Well then you know how good of a bitch she was. She threw Hope, Sunny, she threw hazel off the fireman's saluki, and the stuff most serious coursing men have now is comrades and second generation off her. Now mate let's not run the bitch down, your father in his own words made a fortune from the bitch. She was bred by Phillip, and ended up with Owen from sligo who sold her to Chalky in England and then she ended her days with your Father. Now we're all entitled to our opinions, but this was fact the bitch produced the best coursing lurchers in Ireland and in your own Father's words "you could

I have a bitch that came into season in March this year, the fella' I bought her off told me she had an eight month cycle? By that calculation she will be coming into season November, smack bang in the season. I was wondering is this for definite? And can I suppress her heat?

Andy, important having that history I read about that dog in your thread before he must have been some tool. The knowledge acquired is through generations of dogs that eventually makes them unique as a line on their own. Love the game when people know the family and comrades of dogs back to the dot. It's like they say here when people die, memories make them live again!

You have me hooked Andy on these Minshaw strain.

Jesus Andy that's serious haul! We'd be lucky seeing 126 hares in a season over here! Fair play is right, are those two dogs responsible for that spree?

Bitch is dead, about 2 years ago. Paddy Sweeney down n the middle of Ireland ended up with her. It was said you could put a labrador across her that would kill hares.

Bitch knocked her toe up on sat. Now I know the usual craic, 4-6 wks to toe calllouses and I have been painting bone radial onto the toe, anybody else there with any old wives tales to speedy recovery with knocked toes, more wishful thinking ?

Size in my opinion has absoloutely nothing to do with it! It's heart, agility, speed and lung. Big ones, wee ones, it's irresepective. Although I do think a smaller dog has more of a target to hit (rabbits, long ears) and tend to scoop them by the arse.( My dogs anyway the kill ratio is quite high with the smaller bitches) Whereas my larger dog, has to bend and wrench, and more often than not is injured. But I always remember this old saying in the greyhound game "a good wee one is better than a bad big one, but a good big one is better than a good wee one..." Not that I believe that eithe

Keep at THEM Get These Fu-----s Good Luck Bump Mate there's none dirtier than a dog thief, I hope you dispense proper justice. But tell me this mate, that's a hell of a reward I can't help being curious, is it sentimental reasons or is the dog a proper tool?

Brookie, I've done them both. And I think the difference is the terrain, and diet. Your hare over there is eating a much varied diet and better than the ones here. Cereals, beet on big land equals an athlete, not to say we don't have impossible hares over here either. It's a question of strengths too ours is that our dogs on a whole excel around cover and obstacles, the english stuff I've seen here had difficulty with the obstacles. When we went over there, our stuff did ok, but our host brought us to impossible hares! And red hot land so we really didn't get a chance because we were harrassed

Mostly old long ears, I am at. But within my experience, a dog that age will not be wedded to that type of quarry no matter what you do! Also that land looks familar with your greyhound in it, is that beside a college?

Was out with her and her litter brother Carson. A certain member of this forum owns on flinty (not great) land pre ban. Dangerous, busy wee dog, keen to end her hare. But the dog that day was Carson who won the comp, and seemed the more robust and stronger running of the two. Hope I don't start a row between B&G as both are nice lads with fine animals.

Being bored like I'm sure the rest of you, I'd like to throw this one to the masses. Over the years, and probably since time began, hunters coming back relaying details of the hunt has been a huge crowd pleaser back in the day it was the Native Americans, chewing the fat around the fire about the buffalo? Now recently I've found myself with ex hunters or those getting long in the tooth, telling them about the day's craic and how much they appreciate the yarn. Maybe it's the familiarity with the land that was tilled, or the lines of dogs involved but they can't get enough off it! What became ap

Bitch is a bitsa, saluki x whippet x deerhound all figure in back ground. Like I said exercise is a walk, when the season starts her conditioning will begin.

Alright lads, I have a big bitch here who just turned a year old, and who has a back end on her like a bus! Bitch in question is undoubtedly greedy, so over the past few months I have restricted her food. With the summer and heat, I basically let them empty and chase each other but will up conditioning whenl season begins. My question is she is hardly a puppy now so why is she still carrying this beef? P.s littermates are all like razor blades. I was also wondering epecially after the last month restricted diet, can a dog like a human have a genetic dispotsition to carry weight?

To all the coursing boys with nothing better to do! What stud dog is producing consistent long ears stoppers over there? And if so have these dogs threw pups that were better than themselves?
-
Years ago, while ferreting in a quarry a greyhound I had picked one up, the fox wheeled and bit her just above the wrist severing an artery, snow on the ground it was a blood bath by the time we got home. Greyhound died

Have a cut on dog' s stopper that is recurred. Read somewhere that if you put cotton wool and masking tape you can run a dog anybody here anything on this?
-
Haven't heard of that in years. Let me get this right mate, a piece of bread in a sock, and wrap with a bandage?
-
I have been mate. Still the same, there must be stuff that will draw the dirt/thorn/ stone out? Anyone?
-
Run my bitch last week, noticed her lame on back toe. Have been washing it regular in tcp and salty water, noticed a tiny cut to the side of her nail, had her out for a spin today noticed it tender - Squeezed it and a little pus and blood came from it , which leads me to believe she has something in her nail bed, anyone any ideas of how to get this out?
-
"SELBY"!? Don't talk to me about that place, they'll probably impound your vehicle just for having a lurcher! And just for the record there is a bunch of f**k wits who own lurchers, who phone the cops on other lads with lurchers You know who you are.
