    IMHO there are better calibres for long range vermin shooting, that said the great thing with the .243" is that it's a universal calibre for both vermin and deer. I have two main loads for my .243", 58 grain & 75 grain both driven by H380. Mine has a 1in12 twist barrel and will shoot 58 to 75 grain V-max accurately. "Hot loads" will cause more throat erosion but as already stated under normal conditions barrel life will be okay. I can remember reading that a rifle barrel only has a life span of 1000 rounds, not sure how true that is as I don't normally keep rifles for that long unless I re

    i`m about to get myself a 243 and would like to use it for long range varmint shooting, so the lighter bullets would suit my needs, what i wondered is are these faster, lighter bullets going to seriously shorten the barrel life of the rifle ?

    22 grns of R7 under a 40grn Blitzking is awesome in my 222, i use the shortest oal possible as this is the length that fits in my mag

    I use 40 grn Blitzkings with 22 grns of R7, this produces constant 1/4 inch groups at 100 yds,

    yes gary there rare in 1 in 8 twist as the most factory coopers are 1 in 14 in the br i see inless you ask them for the 1 in 8 or 1 in 10 i think ? the m595 is a lovely action and trigger. im keen to see how the 40 gn vmax go. got some 34 gn dogtowns to for the rabbits 34? They'll be bloody fast for a .222 Let us know how you get on, I'd be interested to know They are fast, on top of 18 grns of N110 they are doing somewhere near 3800 fps, they are far more accurate than the varmint grenades and ive taken rabbits out to 250 yds with them

    This mod is only 6 months old, you all know the spec and the reviews it is fitted with 1/2" UNF thread and has been on a heavy varmint barrel, if you want it to go on a light barrel then im sure the maker can supply a rear bush to suit im asking £100 for a quick sale, either F2F or RFD transfer at your cost there are a couple of small cosmetic scratches but nothing that detracts from one of the best over barrel mods on the market

    As per title, i think it may be made by JLS, it is proofed for Hornet up to 308 win has had very little use but there are some marks where someone has taken it apart, it is fully strippable, weighs only 400 grms and is 11 inches long with 1/2" unf thread, it is not the over barrel type looking for £60 pics on request NOW SOLD

    My old Sako has three positions on the safety catch 1. Safety off 2. Safety on and bolt locked 3. Safety on and bolt unlocked 40 years old but still better quality and has all the answers

    I use an MTC Mamba 4-16x56 on my 222 and with a lightforce 170 it is superb at night, i shot a fox at 300 yds last night with this combination

    I do try and shoot between the ribs so that there isnt to much mess and the two i had were far higher quality shots than Nicks two

    Just to prove that you can shoot Rabbits and a Squirrel with a 22CF without blowing them up i went out at 6 oclock this morning and shot this lot plus 4 more which i couldnt find, they were at ranges from 70yds to 180 yds Some times however they do expand a bit

    Agreed, but i have shot Rabbits at 250 yds with the 222, and i cant quite manage that with the .22lr

    Good stuff mate, what make are the 34 gnrs, where did you get them Cheers They are called Dog Town Hollow Points and are stocked by Midway Uk, alternativley you could try the Barnes Varmint Grenades, they are 36grn

    Dont bother with a HMR, i shoot loads of rabbits with my 222, i load all my own bullets and use a 34grn hollow point for the rabbits, fast flat and quiet but doesnt explode them on impact
