Nice to hear all the same, i quite like the sound of springer x patterdale to be trained up for the beating line but be handy for flushing fox etc without easily going to ground.

Is the tan and choc dog the cockerxterrier? Looks a belter and a cross i really like the sound of. How does it work compared to a spaniel (did you train it to the same standard as a spaniel or more of a free rangeing hound?) and also how difficult was it to train? Good sport daytime rabbiting, the ground looks nice too.

Theres one in running dog addiction. I would imagine a cross of this type would be good in todays climate as the deerhounds coat would hide a multitude of sins.

2" Wide collars for strong dogs ..........
Born Hunter replied to Strong Stuff's topic in Miscellaneous
Will you be at the belvoir hunt open day (asuming the weather isnt as bad as last year, lol)? I wouldnt mind getting one of those 1.5" collars for my lurcher. -
If you have to get him then you can punish him, if he comes to you even if you start to go get him praise him, but for gods sake if he comes to you DONT punish him. I know that its hard not to, lol. As already said, sounds like a typical pup going through its teens, its just a phase but i wouldnt let him get away with anything just because its a phase.

In that case they want to wait out side the garden centers and nick anyone with a bag of fertiliser.......... because they must be growing canabis!!!! Glad it didnt turn into one of the horror storys we often hear of.

I have shot the very occasional hare in the past and if i cant get hold of one then i will possibly shoot one during the season just for the meat. But i havnt had to do this in a few years now. So i voted no, i guess you could say i do shoot hares but thats what i feel is the most honest answer. If the case for shooting hares for pest control arose i wouldnt be against it however its not something i would take much pleasure in. And im yet to be put in a situation where the hare numbers really justify being culled.

your male would put 25%saluki25%grey in to the pot your bitches sire put in(3/8)37.5%saluki(1/8)12.5%grey your bitches dam was a bitza so perhaps unknown%? So at best your pups will be just ever so slightly(52%) saluki, 48% bitza with at least 18% grey+what ever %grey was in the bitza, this would increase the saluki % if there was any in the bitza, but on paper not overly saturated with saluki IMHO Y.I.S Leeview The pups will be 7/16 saluki, 1/4 bitza, 5/16 grey. It all gets a bit fecking confusing and obviously depends on how the bitza was bred. As far as im concerned all

Give yoursely a shake. No true sportsman is against the lurcher game - only hypocrites and misinformed twats. Dont take the opinion that everyone is against you when it simply isnt true. FTB Not saying they all are, not even the majority. But enough to make a difference, just look at the anti lurcher media in shooting magazines (however there are pro as well, sporting shooter being one). Talk to enough shooting men and you will see many only know of one type of coursing man....... the illegal kind. Just go to the deer stalking section of this site a count the times deer coursing is ref

MOST COUNTREY MINDED FOLK GO TO SHOWS WHY CARNT BASC AND LIKE HAVE PERTITIONS WHAT WE CAN SIGN AND THEN PASS THEM ON TO MPS IN THAT AREA BASC dont give a shite and neither do any of the others (infact i think its fair to say most shooting organisations do quite alot to put a bad name to the lurcher), all the CA care about is mounted packs so where does average joe stand with his lurchers and earth dogs?? In the fecking gutter where labour chucked us and other sportsmen sacrificed us! Not so long ago there was an e-pettition to repeal the ban which was among the top 5 largest for a v

Thanks, cant wait untill next season. She a very independant little fecker and given too much freedom shes off 'freelancing'! Im hoping with proper work she will learn to work with me and not on her own, but when theres no game about AT ALL, shes great. Training is coming on well with all the usual stuff and shes 90% stockbrocken but ive not had her off the lead around stock just on a 20 meter line and she understands stock is completely off the menu, however poultry is a sore point, but i can live with that.

Did you get the pup from notts off of slickdicko? If you did and it is the littermate of my bitch, was it the fawn merle pup? looks great anyway

Might he have some saluki in you dont know of???

great, be good to see how hes turned out

A few more pics as promised from today; "Feck the dummy, ive seen a rabbit!"

Fair enough pal, just seeing it from different angles i suppose. Me personally i dont see a deer any different to a fox, rabbit, hare or rat. If the population requires managing then it should be done with equal respect no matter what the species. But thats just my opinion, i know alot of you stalkers respect the deer more than anything, not a bad thing i suppose.
-
Im not a stalker so i dont have the same attitude that most the stalking community do, however hunting ethics are somthing i do think about ALOT. What i am saying is you are all going on about the distance, well where do you draw the line, 100.....200.....300????? Simple and only answer is you draw the line with the distance you are capable of acheiving 100% accuracy within reason (obviously occasionally there will be a mistake even at 20 yards). If this lad feels hes capable of achieving this at 400 yards or whatever, just as you lot feel your capable at say 200 yards, who are we to say hes w

Good shooting, only you know how good a shot you are so non of us can criticise you. Plenty of people who are calling you for 'bad practise' would shoot a fox a 300+ if they felt confident so why not a deer? But thats alright because foxes are 'vermin'... Im sure it makes f**k all difference to the beast what range you kill him at as long as you are confindent in your ability. Regardless of the distance, you killed it humanely after a good bit of thought so well done.
