  3. Not unless they came via Virgin airlines matey, we don't have a population of raccoons over here. Could be mink but more then likely otter, we had a koi breeder here in the Lincolnshire wolds, the otter decimated the koi pond until they installed an electric fence around the pond 6 inches of the floor......... I saw a bloke walking one on a lead down by the Trent near Notts a few months back. Not wild obviously but i could hardly beleive my bloody eyes!
  4. The photos piss all over the cuntryfile callender!
  5. Dont buy this expecting a book, buy it expecting a piece of art. Darcy's love of the hare, the running dog and the course. Its fecking great, nothing like it out there.
  6. Listening to you lot isnt doing my patience any good. Cant bloody wait to come home to find my copy!
  7. no shame in putting a coat on a dog if it suffers from the cold, part of good stockmanship. imo only if necessary though, dogs wont harden to the cold (develop thick warm coat) if kept away from the seasonal temperature, jmo

  10. Well done, i know the feeling. sounds a nice cross, any better pics of him?
  11. Alot of half rate pups being bred and alot of half rate owners trying to work them, imo. Too many pups arnt given a fair chance (either because poorly bred or poorly entered) and then passed from pillar to post.
  12. good post and well done! Wait untill november with frosty mornings and the smell of each shot hangs in the air, thats what rough shootings all about.

  15. I should imagine they had fat staffs that if tested are probably about as game as a yorky. Needed somthing to brag about so set about an old boy and his dog. Maybe a few lads with a bullx or 2 should take a walk out with the old boy... I cant think of a better reason for a spot of vermin control.
  16. 1/4 bull 1/4 whippet 1/2 greyhound assuming the dam is a first cross bull grey put to a straight whippet

  18. If only I could find a deerhound lurcher pup like that. I think deep down almost all lurchermen would like to work a decent, hard allrounder of deerhound blood, something very attractive about them. The old pics do add a special atmosphere to the pics ya just dont get with modern 15 meg digi cams.
  19. Very easy to nock someone when your behind a computer, screams of maturity and self confidence... I cant speak for Penny's dogs working ability as I havent witnessed them grafting but I have met her in person for a very lengthy chat and advice and her knowledge, experience and helpfullness is second to non in my experience. Her reputation preceeds her and its clear to see why. Its very easy to spot a fecking clown in the hunting world and Penny most certainly isnt. I beleive its been said before by someone but ill say it now "there are messers in all walks of life, but working dogs seems t
  20. Depends on the circumstances pal. If your ferrets have never seen rat before you cant garuntee they will do the job. The hobs probably the best choice but may have trouble working the tight spots. Sure you cant nock up a smoker? Or dig them out if possible. Where abouts are you? Possibly someone could come along with a smoker to help you out. We have had some great fun with a chainsaw smoker in and around outbuildings using various methods of despatch depending on the circumstances. If theres a few of you just use a decent ratting stick, often more productive than shooting, and safer.
  21. From this; to this; to the first success; The land i run is bloody hard for a pup to kill on but every night out shes noticeably sharper.
