stick with dry puppy food. i started feeding my pup raw, she got the runs, and she sometimes eats some of the older dogs food and that also causes them. its too rich.

if i was you i would take him out during the day and let him find and run a few of his own. then wait for the mixy in the summer and giv him them on the lamp. this how i started my dog off last summer, at 10/11 month and it brought her confidence right up. 21 rabbits and two hares her best bag this season so must have done somthing right

yeah obviously you need drive but i think the sence not to be totally reckless. whos to say that a dog with a stupidly high prey drive is going to catch the quarry no matter how much it wants to, and end up badly injured for somthing it wasnt going to catch any way. i still get good numbers with my dog and know that i can slip her on anything and can trust her decision to weather she can catch it or not as only the dog knows what its capable of. my mates got a dog with a very high prey drive but its always laid up. my dog has never had any injurys what so ever. depends what suits people i supo

do you know what mate, i'm not blowing my own trumpet here but i've been out with alot of dog men seen all different styles and i have had people to embarresed to lamp with me coz they look like novices. its all i do and do it alot, so i'll let these prefesionals talk the talk on here and get out and enjoy doing what they wish they could do. fair eneogh mate im new to this, although i am out all the time. i know i probly will be a novice compared to you im just an argumentative person lol. atb adam.

just because a dog wont run at rabbits next to the hedge dont mean they have no prey drive it just means there brainy, why fight a endless battle. we all know that some of them come back in to the field but more of them get through.my dog does it and at times you think stop pissing about and run that beam but it aint that bad because she picks squaters out of the seat just walks to them a dog that runs the beam flat out will be tired quicker than the one that walks so i can live with missing the odd one on the edge just my oppinion exactly, especialy at the end of the season non come b

sounds like a good nte pal how tall is ur dog pal as ive got a ten month pup witch im hoping to lamp lng ears with and is now 25 tts and had over 40 bunnies all ready happy hunting anyway 21 and half tts. dont need nothing special to catch lamped hares, in my opinion turning and stamina is mosnt important as any lucher is faster than a hare in a straight line, well should be lol. she not a super quick dog like a greyhound saturated but can turn mint and last in a run.

was out last night lamping with my bitch, whos in heat, so took it easy, and my mates pup beddy whipet bringing it on. pup got a few runs but still lacking a bit pace for these hard end of season rabbits, but got a few droppers that my dog brought back live. now the runs my dog got on the bunnys she was making hard work of due to been broke, and was missing quite a few. now when we got high up the land into the big fields where the long ears sit i shone the lamp and one was sitting in the middle of the field, bearing in mind this is lamped a lot. i slipped my dog and with two turns she got it

at the end of the day i want a dog thats calm and nice natured in the house, easy to train, can take any where without a lead and will just walk by my side. can take out mooching during the day and work the woods/bushes to put stuff out, be game for bigger stuff, and can work the lamp and get reasonable bags, but have the sence not to get injured. ive seen bull crosses nearly knock themselvs out 3 or 4 times in one night and come back cut to bits scraping there way through barbed wire after a poxy rabbit, like some one said earlier nice to watch if you not paying the vet bills. my collie cross

which is your prefered cross and what are your reasons for this?
-
its allright saying drive all the way, everyone wants to see a dog trying 100 prcent every run, but it must be some super fit dog if it can do that all night long, everyslip. ive seen bull crosses collapse doing this and collie crosses that have been there that were still flying for another couple of hours after this. my dog pulls up at ones she thinks she cant catch, and most of the time is right to do so, saving her energy for better chances. she still gets decent bags and never had a slight injury ever, she only 20 month like but we will see how long it continues. shes run some rough ground

my mates dog had a similar injurry. i taped the dogs mouth shut and held it down while he stitched it. healed perfect.
