  1. it is now about 11 weeks since my bitch came into heat, she has just had a phantom pregnancy and milk seems to be all gone. so i took her out on the lamp tonight see if she is getting back to normal (still been getting couple of hours free run a day all the time). any way i slipped her on a few babies and they straigt lined her through a big field and then she started jacking, i couldnt believe it, before she came into heat she was getting 10-20 a night 3 -4 nights a weeks. she was sick about five times the other day, do you think there could be something wrong with her or is it part of her ph
  2. EXactly, the dog has loads of chances at striling etc where as small fields if you miss the first that it most pf the time.
  3. its quite clear, you have not seen a good collie x work, A wee bitch called Tinker 23" Red Fawn, could Hunt a field off the road, and carry back up into the van or car, she killed Hares, all over this country, another one of mine, bred from a first x collie bitch, to a 3/4 Grey 1/4 collie, could murder a Hare, speed, brain, and Stamina, coursing time no more than 1 and half minutes, the Saluki x was a very poor, dog in the 70s but with selective breeding, they have come to the top, but DO not under estimate a good collie x Got a pup of this exact breeding, five and half month, 22 tts and 4
  4. Here you go my friend - whippet coursing under rules. thats a beauty mate.
  5. Wish I had a bitch ive just bought a house with one, you can have her free to good home if you like lol.
  6. That's,the exact hight and weight of my beddy whipp collie grey when she fit. Don't think I would dare take up that challenge like but I can believe it for a one off any day.
  7. No onE is saying they better just that they could dp it Why couldn't they like, all it would have to be was fit and a good turner.
  8. I think it would be easier on fenland for my beddy whippet collie grey. Once she is on a hare in an open space she can stay all day. Fair enough I've only ran them on lamp propperly so far but in big fields and she can stay right on it and put a good course up, she only 22 tts. If she has space she can kill them. Obviously not a coursing dog but she does well.
  9. should i feed my bitch a bit less to get some weight off or should i just carry on as normal and will it come off in time. cheers.
  10. ok cheers. just i was talking to a bloke the other night with a couple of lurchers. he had a beddy whippet and he said the big one was a wheaton greyhound, smithfield-wheaton-grey, i thought smithfelds was a collie type so do you think he meant it has smithfield and wheaton in its make up.
  11. Good anser totally agree with that.
  12. good look mate wish i got into something like that wheni left school. ill have a look out with you when the seaso starts again if the offer stil open. pm me ur number again ive got a new phone. oh and the lamp i got off you needs rewiring, me new pup chewed it too bits lol. little c-nt.
  13. my two are like my kids lol, i dont have no kids and never want any. but i must admit if i got a lurcher that was no good i would pass it to a pet home. doesnt need to be no super dog, but a decent, honest hardworking dog thats loves to please is all. but i think it would be very rare to get a lurcher with half decent breeding and a decent owner that wouldnt make a decent dog. i think some one who can just pass there dog on without a second thought never had a goo enough bond for the dog to work properly in the first place.
  14. yeah your right maye my beddy wip col grey is my first lurcher so i still have a lot to learn. at the end of last season most rabits were shy and near hedges and i kept slipping her on them and she started to get sick. think in september ill start her back on easy ones to get her going again as at the start and middle of last season i was getting 40 or 50 a week with her.
  15. True very true. The amount of work can age a dog quikly same as humans. what so it is better to out less than all the time for a dog? Every thing has its limits of endurance its not in any dogs best intrest to be worked hard seven days a week plus theirs a big difference in running them and takeing them out for a steady walk. ok see what you mean mate.
  16. not all 1st colliexgreys are slow, Bryn is fast+strong for a 1x,alot of lads who have seen him run would would say the same.maybe ive been lucky But yes a lurcher to lurcher, i think make a better lurcher,on( average )for all quarry. does your dog choose runs or not mate?

  18. Not being funny bud, but its folk like you that are the reason we CANT do anything. Make the effort and chap some doors, you cant spit the dummy out the pram for getting hassle for being somewhere you shouldnt. Common sense prevails. Just my opinion though. FTB fair point mate, but if you dont get out there and do it you end up been an internet hunter like some on here................ IMO the way things are now its not worth the aggro to poach. Having to constantly be looking over your shoulder makes for a crap night and takes your mind off the dogs, nevermind the fa
  19. I agree with you their i hunt similar land and need a sharp quik dog i had a collie/grey bitch some years ago and she just was not sharp enough for the rabbits around were i live but did well up in the dales i was told. thats like my dog she strugles on small fields and golf courses but does well up the dales and in bigger fields.
  20. just measured her she is just over 21 at nearly 21 weeks.
  21. yeah mine will hit cover if the rabbits there i mean the likes of bull crosses where if they chase a rabbit through the same fence 9 times they will try just as hard the tenth time when theres obviously no hope. i am a great believer that collie crosses can estimate thier own capabilities and judge weather a run is feasible or not, where other more simple minded crosses only think 'kill'. whos the boss mate u r your dog its as simple as this if u slip your dog on a rabbit and your dog dont move its a jacker simple as whats the point in keeping a dog that only goes for easy rabbits.most col
