Thanks a million to Russellyard and Cleanspade for the photos, some of the finest typey working russells i have ever seen a credit to you both. a.t.b. Burrowman.

Presume u mean grey x gwp Asbo, i often thought about that cross; plusses would be good nose, strong retrieve trait, both breeds similar height and athletic should cross well with good even size to the pups and good coat , one real bad possibility imagine if the dog froze and pointed instead of chasing flushed game. a.t.b. Patterdale cross breeding with Staffs
burrowman replied to Pipey Magregor's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Reading all the replies to your question Pipey and the answer lies within; lads that put staff blood in their terriers had over hard dogs that died young or spent more time healing than hunting......"if it aint broke dont fix it". a.t.b.Burrowman. -
Fair play Stevie honourable reason for neutering. Donny, of all the breeds youve worked whats your fave 1.2.3. and why?
-
Powerfull photos of your border Donny did he kill the game himself on that dig? of the breeds you work whats your favourite? Ahh Stevie i knew u had a soft spot for the borders how come you didnt keep a line from your first?
-
Hows it goin Mart, do u dig fox with this dog, if yes does he still sound or does he try to kill the fox. a.t.b.Burrowman.
-
Question to Steviemann and Donny c; How come ye have pictures of borders in your avatar photo but ye dig to russells and plummers, sentimental pics of ye're best dogs ever maybe?
-
Well done Stevie, how long did u leave him before u broke through? thats a powerfull pup to kill his first fox aground.
-
Awsome utube videos Mart, you have proved that there is no need for bull blood in terriers to work badger. Wish this country would class them as pests they ruin my days huntin tryin to avoid em. a.t.b. Burrowman.

Lucky fecker that much action on first day, i started lat sunday got wet to the skin one fox bolted off big ditch never saw him lurcher came back with tongue hangin out. Still didnt come home empty handed lurcher caught two bolted slips. Like that young bitch of yours nice and slim for the tight burrows. a.t.b. Burrowman.

Powerful photo Mart, are u standin in the hole u just dug, looks a big one? whats the av temp in your country now must be ok for diggin youve been busy. Whats ways your dog bred, a lot of lads would say a russel needs a bit of bull blood for badger work but yours looks pure russell ? a.t.b. Burrowman.

Well done Carl, nice strong terriers u have there, what way is the black and tan one bred it could almost pass for a JAGD. a.t.b. Burrowman.

Once again an excellent, well informed post by Bryan, also like to thank Barrie for his excellent advice. Thanks to all lads for the helpfull advice. a.t.b. Burrowman.

God help the future of the working terrier, first we have a lad offering his 12 month border pup with one ball for stud, now we have a rat killing rosette collecter that wants 200 quid stud fee. Lets get real here a yorkshire terrier will make a good ratter, only when a terrier has worked fox alone underground can it be considered proven. You say the dog has best of breeding, thats no guarentee, ive a border bitch with dandyhow and oxcroft lineage in her but she didnt make the grade underground, shes ok for bushing/ratting but i wont breed her. As the other members said she has nothing to offer

Nice pack Marcos, are they hard, mixers or sounders. What is the longest time you have seen it take for a border to start going to ground and working. What other types of animals do u hunt downunder? a.t.b. Burrowman.

WELL SAID MATE, FUK THE ANTIS THIS IS A HUNTING SITE IF WE WANT TO SHOW AND TALK ABOUT PICS OF OUR DOGS WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO,WE CANT LET THE ANTIS CONTROL EVERYTHING THERE JUST A BUNCH OF SAD TREE HUGGERS WITH NO LIVES AND NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT WE DO, IF WE SHOW ITS ALL LEGAL THERE SHOULD BE NOTHING WRONG WITH I. DID DARCY REPLY TO YOU No reply from Darcy yet Terrier man. The dog in your avatar photo is a beaut is it a lakeland or a welsh terrier? a.t.b Burrowman.

Some very interesting facts there Bryan and i must confess to not knowing all of them. Its people like u we need in this fight to keep us aware of the sneaky moves those b--tard politicians make to bring these laws in. Hope u stay with us til the end. thanks Burrowman

Good on u Mark P, keep the real borders goin, wish i had as much game in my area as you have. What age is she, is she the same bitch in your avatar photo?
-
Shovel is right if we can get a big turnout in Nass on the 17 oct it should be on tv then the bast--d politicians will sit up and take notice.Great to hear the support from British hunters....sad to see some of our lads have give up the fight already. Stand up and be counted the fight is only startin. Remember the sight of grown men cryin at the last Waterloo Cup i doubt any greenies will ever love the countryside like us.

Steviemann you are better off buying a remote training collar as Steve mc said. The bark collars work but once your dog is cured they have no other use.If you buy a good training shock collar with a range of at least 100m, then say over one weekend you can press the buzzer while watchin tv etc in your house when your dog barks. I fixed my lurcher over one weekend, then you can use the collar to zap your dogs if they worry stock, hunt too far ahead, lurcher dosent come back soon enough, dogs get too interested in your ferrets, etc and many more uses.I used the innotek it works fine. a.t.b burro

The Working Border Terrier Club
burrowman replied to PICK AND SHOVEL's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Well said Mark P and The Breeder, finding a keeping a genuine working line of borders is not easy. Most diggin lads on this forum have probably seen a bad border fail at work [hence the slaggin] but the few that see a good one work dont forget. I know the k.c. has ruined a lot of workin dogs but it is possible to find k.c. reg workers and its the only way to keep the breeds pedigree, im not goin to raise the money issue if you want a cheaper breed go get one, if u want a border pay the goin rate END OF. -
Great pics of your borders Mark P but i prefer the ones of them aground workin their game, glad i saw them before they were removed. Its sad to say that on a hunting forum with members from all over the world that u cant post a photo of your dogs at work. Would it be possible to make the forum more secure e.g. every member must send photos to the moderator of themselves and their dogs on a dig with a photo of them dispatching the game that should weed out the antis......no photo and your kicked off the forum. One last question to mr Darcy, what about lads from ireland and the rest of the world

The Working Border Terrier Club
burrowman replied to PICK AND SHOVEL's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I fully agree The Breeder, it is not an option to outcross to other terrier breeds we must preserve the characteristics of the border and remain true to type. If the gene pool is too small in G.B. then hopefully this club will bring together working border owners from all over the world, theres a few here in Ireland, i remember a feature on borders workin badger in Finland, Digaman has seen 40 borders at earthdog trials in Hungary so perhaps the border is not a lost cause yet. To Cleanspade you have some very good points but if we outcross we just end up with another crossbred terrier and
