I see where you're coming from hedz-the thread has gone to shit as it always does with plummers. I'm guilty of being drawn in,but its obvious that its all futile,Like arguing with a premenstrual woman. (No offence to the ladies-you actually make more sense!) I have a few years back. All the game and vermin you need out in the "wilder" areas. Gods country for hunters. I showed a couple of lads the lamp before it took off up there and they made some BIG catches. A lot more pressure up there now though i expect. You, showed lads the lamp before it took off up there, it must have been a long time ago mate.. Over 35 yrs ago. Not many on it at that time but these lads were working 2nd shift, (thats the 4-12pm i think?), full time, and slaying stuff big style for the rest of the night.

Precise early date ..impossible IMO...but dare i suggest when the defintion could easly been applied once or twice ..once with vipers stock and secondly with cerbys stock. Years apart..both had impacts and made big differences...but new studs are also doing the same now even tho there is no doubt whatsoever the terriers are a breed with a good viable genetic forumla. Better held back from reynard at 7 months. Same as 3 month old puppies and mink. Experience should tell you that. BTW I never asked for the definition of a breed glenn-nice dodge though. A simple "dont know" would suffice.

A lot of talk about lies,dishonesty,deception etc. This,that and the other dogs weren't or aren't plummers. who knows? Can anyone answer one simple question i asked previously and was met with BLAH BLAH BLAH unquote. When did the plummer terrier become the plummer terrier? Just a simple answer would be appreciated-no arguements,just a straight forward answer. Cheers.

Glenn-If plummer was such a twat and the PLUMMER terrier such a mongrel,and you are such a genius,why dont you start from scratch and create your own breed of terrier instead of riding on Plummers coat tails while slagging him off incessantly,as well as anyone else that has a different OPINION from you. Hector was a b+w collar marked marked f2 owned by a good friend and terrierman. Saw regular work with the south Hereford hunt. Another underused stud due to being b+w. He would throw roughly 50% b+w pups (random-red+white pups would breed red+white mated to red+white). Black+white not sale-able. If your dog has 2 lines to pip its no bad thing. a lot of the later stuff plummer bred via pip were good earth dogs. Shame their percentages made them inferior!! Individual dogs can be homozygous-breed true,regardless of the percentages of other breeds,once line bred,in a relevantly short time. Clear enough? Its not that difficult to fix traits,esp. in dogs of similar type.

The o.c. were intended to go back to "pure" bred dogs. Brian advised against doubling on the bull i believe. From photos ive seen, there are some tidy dogs emerging now. As a point of interest, while the pta have voted not to allow "new" blood onto their register,the epta have, despite the VERY vociferous dislike and scorn poured on them by their founder! Surely these eptr dogs, lauded as the cream of plummers,should be able to stand alone without the addition of "inferior" blood? Btw hayley was a bitch,so would offer very few qualities as a stud dog!

A lad near me used a 21-22" collie on the lamp and with the gun. The little bitch bagged a good few rabbits for him. He mated her to a greyhound just before he retired her but reckoned the lurcher wasnt as good as the bitch.

Wirral I think you took me the wrong way,I wasn't having a dig(excuse the pun)at dogs that bolt their foxes,quite the opposite fella.I'm of the same oponion as you,a few places I work are rock piles,disused quarry's etc so the use of (in Darcy's words)a "jacker" is a must if you want that fox out.My idea of a jacker was one that wouldn't enter,wanted nothing to do with its quarry etc......atb John Very true John. Some good points raised there lads. Back on the working track,Does anyone or has anyone worked the "new blood" (bull oc.) to ground? They seem to be decent hunters from what i've seen on some forums and some very tidy lookers. (I know looks dont mean a lot,just an observation)I'm told they're a little more placid than the old blood temperament wise. THIS QUESTION IS NOT ASKED TO STIR ANY CRAP ABOUT WHETHER IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED OR NOT-THATS HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH-ITS DONE,LIVE WITH IT! I havent seen them work so cant comment. It would be nice to hear from those that do work them.
