  1. ok so maybe im after a beddy/grey to use for lamping and general mooching about, done a search on here and cant find anything about them and dont know anything about them either. only seen two in my time on the lamp and both were yappers which is slightly off putting but hey probably down to the owners ,right . so where do i start in getting the dog i want, like i said will mainly be used for lamping rabbits but nice to have something capable of retrieving fox as i do quite a bit of shooting as well. how much beddy do i want in the mix?do they generaly have good feet?what they like
  2. change it then log out then log in again, worked for me
  3. not at all mate,i quoted what you said to point out this is what i will do,as in will do cheers lads
  4. suppose the other way of looking at it is that he knows the answer is obvious and he is implying to the reader that although there is a ban doesnt mean people have given up because of it,thus still keeping particular types
  5. someone went to a lot of trouble for a quite drinking den great pics though mate
  6. certainly does not always go are own way but then that would get boring,i understand what your saying just an observation that was all
  7. yes but it did have three homes
  8. dont take this the wrong way mate but seemed a lot of faffing about, stalking that rabbit that was already aware of your presense,ok you walked it up then got down into a slight bit of dead ground but it still new you was there, all that crawling only to sit up at the end of it to take the shot which is when the bunny done the off and your dissapointment although obvious, was to me to be expected, surely stalking is about the quarry not being aware of you at all if possible,id be sticking to the fence line if it was me,just my observation mate not up for a row or anything if you leopard crawled
  9. spot on, if lamping is your game you got take the 2 out the same night, or as you say leave 1 at home, and the dog left can play up. I am going to face this prob later this year, my bullxgrey Tod is whinger i found alot of bullxs are . Even though i had for differnt work than Bryn, i think this when 2 dogs can get to be a pain in the arse.!! i agree it can be difficult keeping two but only taking one on each particular night out, never had a winging bull x myself but i always fed one dog while the other was getting put in the motor, they were usualy none the wiser but did help that
  10. i dont dispute what your saying mate, just seems to be leading the readers to believe that these types, with the current ban in place are no longer needed, which is obviously not the case, just how i read it thats all I haven't seen the article Watchman, but I agree with your point. Especially since Terry lives in Northern Ireland and did all his running in Ireland where there is no ban. The lads who are now running hares on the same land where Terry ran years ago are mostly using dogs with plenty of saluki in and their dogs are judged by what they can do single handed in the main.

  12. thats hardly the point is it,its not about who prefers what its about lads still keeping dogs for their own purpose
  13. what you on about? ,i done what you said,i cut the nail back last night let it bleed out, still swollen this morning but will put the hose on it couple times a day to help as well
  14. ok so read his article,a lot of it makes sense for instance opening quote"the smart hunter picks the dog to suit the quarry and terrain"think we would all agree with that, just cant quite get my head around the closing quote though"now as hare and fox hunting have been restricted, the question is:why are the saluki and bull types so popular" surely the answer to that is obvious
  15. very nice them mate, pity about your motor
  16. it is no more, checked it couple days ago she was sitting tight went up today, empty

  18. i know what you mean, got a doves head on it,perhaps they call them pigeons over there, although not sure where "over there is"
  19. iv never seen one work but seriously thinking of getting one myself, prob go for a 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy, hopefuly make a handy little lamping dog, have seen a couple beddy/grey but both were yappers which is slightly off putting so guessing they need treating with kid gloves so to speak when starting them off,il have to wait and see till i decide for sure
