Heritage, I know you're not into the moles, but really appreciate your input with your engineering background As I understand it, there is some financial outlay needed to change the current set up and produce new tooling. But..... the tooling currently in use will need to be refurbished before too long anyway, so any changes required could be incorporated into that refurbishment. Anyway, we're not that far down the road yet. What's being suggested is that some copies of the original design could be made to see about the feasibility of offering them as an option within the current

how true however like i always say to mr farmer when he tells me that "old bill, bob, jim, ect from the village catches my moles" theirs a difference between some one who can catch moles and a mole catcher as i side note..... is it silly i was all giddy about this new trap lark and couldent sleep last night!?

excellent! its been talked about a lot and if it happens then GREAT! theirs only 3 maybe 4 things i would like to see change 1.trigger holes a LOT smaller 2. trap like you say 60mm wide 3.the trigger material has to be strong enugh not to be bent by a mole but still tuneable 4. if i have to be picky..the arms a few mm longer and the loops slightly smaller but over all well done to them for atleast thinking about it..and it good to know that our voices are being heard

Finding A Main Mole Run
perthshire keeper replied to RossR's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I’d say my time is rarely wasted just standing looking at mole hills on the other side of a valley (whether I've got a job there or not) , just trying to work out what’s going on. Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m sure I soon start seeing patterns and get an idea what the moles are up to. I’m even considering getting one of those drone things, so I can take an aerial photo of a site before I start work. That's such a good idea! There's a field I used to watch on a hillside when i was trapping one farm and there was a line of hills almost right across this field at the top then -
Trapping Ducks
perthshire keeper replied to will_cox's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
imo their is simply nothing more easy to catch than a hungry duck! we used to get hundreds a day in the pheasant catchers! put a full bag of wheat on the floor by the pong once its all gone put a bag down again with a trap on top of it......simples..also ducks like partridges can often find their way out over time -

What's 'expensive'? I'm happy to pay a premium for a decent trap that doesn't need 15 minutes fettling, and lasts a good few years Mr Wasp or Nicepix will be happy to confirm, I'm sure, but I think the length of the trap body is about the only thing that hasn't changed By the way PK, I wish you'd download a spellchecker Being the spelling fairy on here is wearing me out i have one...just don't use it where has the gap between the springs come from? or am i being dumb?
-
That's interesting Nicepix To be fair, I've never actually seen one of the stainless versions up close and personal; as I posted earlier, the problems I had with my original batch of Flatpacks put me off ordering any more I'd ask, nay beg, anyone reading this with an interest in the subject to get hold of Flatpack ASAP and ask them to read what's been written here Here's a link to their contact page be be blunt...as long as they keep selling a great heap of traps then they wont give a toss and no one can "not" buy traps..... new question...where can i buy say a dozen

Are you talking about the fenn mole trap? no they were..to look at a talpex trap but without the trigger we know insted they had the ring type trigger of a normal scissor trap...the trigger sat between the cross bars and they had not setting pin. 100% not the fenn Solway sell the traps exactly as you are describing mate; but they are the fenns http://www.solwayfeeders.com/products/fenn-scissor-mole-trap-p1904-c424.html noooooo 100% NOT the fenn i have a dozen fenn sat in my shed right now......and they are not the fenn lol Ok, so now you've dropped a subtle h

matt i realy must get that trap too you! but its currently sat in a run that has been polished like a clay pipe! any how that is my main gripe with all barrel traps, the size of them holes! we have talked about this before thou. also i have just started tightening up all my barrel traps...it struck me a few week ago when i pulled a set trap out their was a clear cleaving line round the dig out where the trap had dug in the sides..now their just and so wide enugh to let the kill loops thru -
