  3. i have'nt seen any pull up but i've seen a few good "roe" dogs really struggle to get a good hold on a fallow, let alone stop it, or bring it down even Thanks Lucky, I've just read Jackie Drakefords new book and she describes fallow as "not particually fast" and roe "not particually fast in the open" and a story about a pair of border terriers that "wrought havooc on ther local roe population". Who needs lurchers  :11: HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE GOT SIMMOMAN

  9. BEST THING TO DO MATE IS GO AND BUY A MINK LIVE TRAP CAGE, OR PREFABLY 2-3 REMEMBER TO COVER THEM SO THAT WHATEVER GETS COUGHT DOSNT GET SOAKED IF IT RAINS. SET THEM CLOSE TO THE AREA YOU LOST HIM PUT SOME BAIT IN , AND TRY AND GET IT IN SOME KIND OF SHELTERD PLACE. I HAVE ALSO LOST A NUMBER OVER THE YEARS , THIS WAS IN THE DAYS BEFORE THE LOCATOR. BUT I HAVE ALSO LOST ONE WITH A LOCATOR COLLAR ON ABOU 15 YEARS AGO . . LOST ONE ABOUT A MONTH AGO IT ESKAPED FROM THE CAGE IN MY VAN AND MANAGED TO GET OUT THE VAN SOMHOW WHILST IT WAS PARKED UP, THE FECKING THING THING ATE HALF MY LEMO
  10. its been a couple of months now since i had a paying rabbit job come , but yesterday i was doing some sub contract work for a local firm . the course manager was worried about two jumps in particular where the rabbits had dug in to both ends. basicly there was an entrance at each side of the jump so i put the 40 yard long net right round the firs jump produced 3 rabbits . now my little bitch tara realy is coming on at this ferreting at one point the ferret was stuck with a rabbit and i was having real problems locating it as there was loads of interfearance, but geuse what tara start

  12. MATE THE HANDLES ARE NOT A SEALED UNIT. IF YOU PRESS THE TWO RED THINGS IETHER SIDE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HANDLE , THE END COMES OFF. . THEN PULL A LITTLE OF THE SPARE WIRING OUT, AND TIE A HALF HITCH IN IT . THEN STUFF THAT BACK IN SIDE THE HANDLE. THE KNOT WILL NOT PULL THROUGH THE HOLE SO TAKING THE PREASURE OF THE CONECTIONS. HOPE THIS MAKES SENCE TOMO

  14. perhaps you got some good dogs tomo and some good sport with the ferrets etc but why dont you put a dvd together and show us old folks how to do it its easy to critasise not so easy to film if the lamper and chipper can put a dvd together you proffesionals should have no problems. your right Greygoose it is easy to critasise, and maybee i should do a film. but i and others have the right to critasize, when we have just paid upwards of £20 for a film. and it turns out to be not so good. for example The Lamper 4. you would think that it was about lamping. WRONG. ferreting with

  16. i agree with millet . used that combination for years . nice and light. also i can get the 7 amp gell bateries for a £5 of melton catle market. all you need then is a carrier. i use an old cammera bag with shoulder strap.
  17. YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT A QUIKSET ON ENXPENSIVE POLES. YOU CAN USE HAZEL OR WHATEVER. RAMBO HAS 2, 25 YRD NETS BOTH ON WOODEN PEGS. AND ONLY TODAY I HAVE CUT 10 BLACKTHORN PEGS THAT I HAVE POINTED AND SANDED THE BURS OFF, AND NOW JUST STRAIGHTNING. THESE ARE TO BE USED ON MY NEXT PRESET LONGNET TOMO
  18. ferreting with long nets becomes very adictive, evrybody who has come out with me for the first time , loves it straight a way. it is of course the simplist thing to do on open burrys. but where the adiction kicks in , is when you start looking at evry ferreting situation. and think to your self , could i use the long net here in stead of messing about with all those silly bloody purse nets. and in alot of cases you could, even hedge rows and in some woodland. only a couple of days ago i was setting purse nets under a load of black thorn. i just couldnt get the long nets round it pr
  19. AS RABBIT HUNTER SAYS THEY CAN DO THAT. BUT IN MY EXPERIANCE I LIKE TO GET PLENTY FERRETS IN. THIS REALY GETS THEM MOVING . AS SOON AS THEY HOP IN TO ANOTHER HOLE A FERRET IS WAITING. ALSO IF YOU HAVE ENCIRCLED THE BURRY AND HAVE NET LEFT , OR MORE NETS , THEN CRISS CROSS IT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE. TOMO

  22. the reason its better than legging them is because when you leg a rabbit the meat on the leg that got legged dries up a bit , dont get me wrong this is only a small thing i know. and of course its quiker than legging when allyou do is shove the sharp bit through the rabbits leg .you can put them on the pins whilst walking. although this takes a bit of practice. TOMO
  23. duck wing you can improve those carriers by shortning the shoulder straps so they dont hang so far down. i personly im not keen on those as rabbit piss tends to leek down you. i use these large safty pins which you just push through the rabbits hock. i have been yousing this method for 18 year. its quik and eficiant. each safty pin hangs off the end of a bit of webbibing in much the same way as the neck carriers in the pics. nobby on this site has now improved on my safty pins by making some even bigger ones. i will ask him to put a pic up to show you all. on these new ones i can carr
