  1. Site is back on, but for how long?
  2. I had my Whippet out ferreting with me at six Months, not chasing, but working the hedgerows, watching the Rabbits bolt, learning to work with the ferrets and use his nose, Has not did him any harm, he has turned into a useful ferreting companion, and has never yipped.
  3. Ive contacted them to see if they do a meat free mixer, cant see any on their site.
  4. The large blue bag is an old post office bag, free gratis. The green net bag you wear round your waist with a belt, made by a seamstress had it for years, really handy bit of kit, i keep more nets for back up in the bigger bag, which the seamstress put in two inside pockets, one I use for poke nets, the other for finders and collars.
  5. Yeh, no good if you have a few Mutts, but like i say i have only the one Whippet.
  6. Try gutting and skinning a Rabbit, leave the kidneys in, this should get them going, then after this, you wont need to skin them. Have to say, after 45 years of Ferreting, and owned a few of the wee beasties, ive never had any that refused to eat rabbit, strange as you say they are good workers, so therfore they know what a Rabbit is.
  7. Good on yeh three Turns, i was just going to have a wee walk with the Whippet, but just as i went I decided to take my albino Jill and my nets. Went to wood I know, expected maybe a couple, but i bolted four clean Rabbits, was only out a couple of hours.made my day.
  8. For a while now ive been feeding Robbies Meat free mixer, which i add to my Beef, Chicken and Rabbit. No Chemical Flavouring, No wheat, Glutton Free, No Soya, No Dairy, No Pork, No Eggs. And hypo- Allergenic. COMPOSITION. Brown Rice, Oats, Carrots, Spinach, green beans, Freeze dried Peas, Thyme, Spearmint, Parsley, Oregano, Sage. All are dehydrated, so it goes a long way, you just add warm water and it swells, £10.60 for 2.5 Kg. i suppose its expensive if you have a few dogs to feed, but i only work the one whippet.
  9. The only problem is, if you have to put a Dog into kennels at any time, you have to have a current booster, plus a Kennel cough certificate.
  10. my partner asked what i was looking at on the computer, i let her see it was a discussion on net pegs, she thinks we are a bunch of sad b-------s. and we should get a life. Thats Woman for you, they just dont understand. :boogy:
  11. 21 inches in Whippet dogs appears to be a popular size, but you never know, could end up smaller or bigger, have heard of whippets making 23, always thought this was a bit big for a Whippet, but that is just my opinion.
  12. Complete food in the Summer Months, Rabbit in Winter Months.
  13. Site is now up and running.
  14. Glad you are well Byrn, aye you've been missed. ATB, CJ.
  15. Aye thats the ones, £1. for 15.
  16. Yesterday i did a three hole Bury, the Poly Jill bolted one and killed one, which was dug out. I have never just flung back the soil, I look for a stone which I jam the hole then fill in, leaving the bury intact. As the Jill was in the bury for half an hour, the smell of Ferret must have been strong, was out a walk this morning with the Whippet and walked past this bury, with snow on the ground, and Rabbit footprints at every entrance. The Whippet gave a positive mark so he was at home. Always been surprised how quickly rabbits move back into a bury that a ferret has been through. You wou
  17. For years I made my own, and also bought some ready made, Recently i sent away on Ebay for 6 inch bright yellow plastic tent pegs. They were as cheap as chips, hold in all types of ground, they are strong and wont break, and being bright yellow, easy to see. As you can see by this post im impressed.
  18. Hope the Dog does okay, the British Countryside can be a dangerous place, have to agree I have always worked the one dog.
  19. Out for a couple of hours bolted four and dug one, one slipped the net and after striking but not holding the Whippet took it on his second strike. It was a good wee course.
  20. I used the grey hemp nets for years, still have them and they must be 40 years old, took a lot of Rabbits with these nets. Then went over to bright colours in spun poly, and can safely say, it makes no difference, they can hit these bright nets like a train. If they are going to hit a net, doesn't matter what colour they are.
  21. I agree with the one, keep your Jill's whole, and use a vacetomied Hob. Then if your Jill's turn oot good uns, and you do need a replacement, then you just need to find a good Hob.
  22. Is it not true, that Greyhound Bitches run their best just as they are coming in.
  23. Right here we go, i soaked the back legs, and back of the Rabbit, in water with some Salt and Vinegar for four hours. I then washed the pieces in cold water and dried them with kitchen towel. I seared the Rabbit for 5 mins in a tablespoon of oil. Then added the Rabbit to a Slow Cooker added Carrot and Onion. Poured over a jar of Patacks Madras Curry Sauce, switched it at 10 pm and switched off at 10 am next Morning. Curry was beautiful just peeled off the bone, next one I will try is, Patacks Jalfreezi Sauce.
