  1. i know the wee spades ar handy, but i will stick with my Bulldog rabbiting spade, must be over 30 years old, did a lot of work. and never needed to replace anything.
  2. I catch more with the ferrets, there are pockets that hold them, Last year, I ferreted a hedge on a dairy farm, I took 8 rabbits. this year none, when i lamped the farm last year to see what was on it, there was an average of 14 rabbits in each field. I went to the same farm two days ago, with the lamp, I saw two rabbits on the whole farm, and one Badger.
  3. Was going to take the Ferts, but blowing a gale and forecast heavy rain, wish i had, but just went a mooch, no Rabbits lying out. Whippet kept looking at me, as if to say wheres the Ferts.
  4. Well done, its good to get out, those hedges, and clean grass land, look ideal to use long nets, stop nets, with the Ferts. Keep at em.
  5. The Lad that was looking for purse nets, came across to me as genuine Guy. Even if i am wrong, its only four nylon purse nets, that i found in the shed, and would never be used. The lad pmd me, saying he would pay postage, but it wont be much, so I will pay, From lads on this site, I have had a days ferreting, a nights lamping, free Ferrets, purse nets, poke nets, and stop nets. I dont mind helping anyone out, its just trying to find out who is genuine.
  6. Rabbits love tree roots, and for me, they bolt better, you get a grand rumble. Although this thread is about loosing rabbits not covering all the holes. Its good with the opposite, i did a bury in a banking recently, netted up about 10 nets, when I noticed a bury, really far out from the Warren, when i looked at it, I thought no way is that connected, but decided to stick a net on it any way. I heard nothing, but the whippet took off and there was a bunny in that net, must say i was well chuffed, my partner was with me, and she said I was beaming like a Schoolboy.
  7. Pinned at the top of the page. Where to buy purse nets. A few lads on there selling quality nets.
  8. I just work the two Jills, but have started getting last years vasectomied hob going, two ferrets should work a large warren, if they are good uns. You must have a lot of permission to keep and work 7 ferrets, You can get a good days ferreting out of three, thats the most i keep.
  9. I was out for a wee mooch last week, was just after 2 pm and the Whippet marked a big warren, I netted up and there was two burys left. Should have known better, two rabbits bolted from the unnetted burys. was in a wood, the Dug missed the first, and put the second into a deep bury, know way was I going to net up, it would have been a dig. Because this happens regular, you start to wonder if they knew theres no net on. that bury i missed the two, I must have put on 15 nets, you would have thought the law of averages, at least one would hit a net.
  10. Just as Darbo said useful for tree trunks, and larger burys. Always worth having four in your bag. This is a Netrigger net.
  11. ive got 15 purse nets but im still coming across burrows with more holes, it would be greatly appreciated to have some but atleast let me pay for post. No your okay, im a WOOP, WELL OFF OLDER PERSON. :D Its a pity i didnt have more, they are good nets, and will catch Rabbits. PM me your name and address, and i will post them down.
  12. Its queer that, but true, the bury you dont net, you will get a bolt. have to agree with Bob, if you start blocking holes, theres a good chance you will have a dig on hand. I dont know how you are financially, but surely you could afford a dozen nets. I have four nylon purse nets with pegs, not as good as the spun poly, so I dont use them, I had more but gave them to a young Lad. If you send me your name and address I will post them down to you, and i will also pay the post.
  13. Bill, a number of years back, did ye no add a bit of Crocodile to the strain. :D
  14. correct, but when I tried a little warm milk and egg, it was just a one off, to try and get them drinking out the one bowl. It is correct about milk, but just one small bowl between two, once only.Should be okay, but not to give regular.
  15. Wish you well, i have two Jills, one a wee cracker from Netrigger strain, but she hates my other Jill with a vengeance. Both are cracken workers, but i have tried everything to couple them up, without success. tried them together for a month, but the wee Poly, who is the more aggresive, took over the nesting box, and the other jill slept in the far corner, and they kept out each others way, but if they met, there would be a fight, tried feeding them a wee bit warm milk with an egg, which they ate together, and when finished the fighting would start. same with rabbit. even tried putting feret
