  1. I have a Whippet he appears to be doing well on this feeding regime. One lb raw meat, beef, or rabbit, or chicken, and lb fish once a week. good handful of Gain 20%, grated carrot and spinach daily. 2.5 oz scoop of gain Gamivit supplement daily. Beef and chicken from Durham animal feeds, ferreted rabbits, and fish from near out of date Morrisons supermarket. if feeding meat i would use Gain 20% if not Gain 28%
  2. I think what has been said regarding workers, we all know that they will work, and we know how they are bred, as it says in the tin. but how much exercise do the brood bitches and stud dogs receive daily? What quality of food do they have? are the brood greyhounds bred every time they come in season? what happens to them, when their breeding is finished im afraid i dont agree with puppy farming..
  3. Better keeping your ferret box as light as possible. better using a shoulder bag for your nets, then you can add more or take out, for your needs, your finder can go in your pocket. Have seen these boxes with compartments for nets finders etc, and they are to big and heavy for me.
  4. As the season is about finished, rabbits now in young, its a bit early, but there should be a few kits being born this year.
  5. Any particular reason you emailed them? I expect he was interested in how some sell themselves as more wholesome than others. Likely if you where to walk around the processing plants of the supposedly good or bad it would be a very similar picture. I was in my local pet shop, and the owner was showing me one of completes, and was keen to tell me the chicken in the ingredients was for human consumption, so i ask what part, and he couldn't answer, So I started out of curiosity to look at bag ingredients, and noticed all just said chicken, s
  6. I have emailed a few companies that sell complete dog food including Gain which i use, asking a very simple question, regarding Chicken as the main ingredient. What part of the bird do you use in your product, i have never received a reply. Any ideas why?
  7. I dont mind putting up a post that will help, ferreting Lads ive used most who sort mark1s and Pipa is certainly the best i have used. And im not in any commission.
  8. Sent my mark1 which had been returned in the past with a note saying because of its age, could not be fixed properly. sent it to Pipa, and he returned it in full working order. Have now sent my spare for a full service. Pipa is fast at returning, and at a good price. Highly recommended .
  9. Try and get permission from one Farmer, do a good job, and when he knows your honest, Farmers know Farmers and will recommend you, that's how i got mine.
  10. give her a lot more handling, i can gut rabbits and still pick my ferrets up. work on her over the summer. And yes, unless your a pester, or you have a heavy rabbit population, you will be killing rabbits carrying young.
  11. I just recently sold my mark 3m with collar on ebay, best thing ive ever done, overpriced shit.
  12. Although the 3/4 is a great cross, with your Bitch being Collie Greyhound, you are putting another two crosses into the mix, if mainly for rabbits I would put a decent size Whippet say 23 inch.
  13. The most importing attribute to a Ferreting dog must be marking, a marking dog will put more rabbits in your bag, and save you a lot of wasteful time. also able to catch bolters, and work with daytime longnets Any size would do this, but i prefer Whippets or smaller Lurchers, as i know some farmers that will not let you on with big dogs.
  14. Totally agree, I think you should have a section for auld codgers.
  15. Work wise, it doesn't matter, ive said this before, the best Hare dog i saw in my area, and ive seen a few, was a bitch, she slept on the couch, and at the end of her owners bed.
  16. Whats money BPR you cant take it with you. im a woop, WELL OFF OLD PERSON.
  17. Im getting it from local greyhound track, £13 blue bag 20% mix with a pound of raw meat, veg, and keepers mix which i won in a Countrymans weekly comp. up to now im happy with the result, dog is clearing his bowl. BPR I think we are having a two way conversation on this thread.
  18. My Whippet has always been fed raw, from weaning, recently ive been adding a handfull of Gain 20% mixed with the meat, been watching for the runs, but no sign, stools are spot on. and dog looks good. You can get hung up on dog feeding, like myself but as Skycat and others have said, Dogs are great adaptors, so as long as he is doing okay, I will keep to this regime, and wouldnt bother feeding the Gain 20% and meat separate.
  19. There should be a few Kits coming soon, shame to look out on empty hutches.
  20. Brought back memories of Wallyford and the coursing at charlesfield Annan Was down at Gretna dog track on Sunday watching the opens, first time near a flapping track for 25 years, Different faces, but same skulduggery and scheming going on, never seen as many men whispering in each others ear.
  21. Once saw a dog years ago, that everyone was talking about, caught an amazing amount of Hares saw it catch two out of two, the only time I saw it run, Had stamina a plenty, always caught four and five fields away, must have run them into the ground. not my type.
  22. If feeding raw meat with the gain 20% with veg, and powdered seaweed cod liver oil once a week, what or would be the advantage of this supplement?
  23. Use the search facility on this part of the site, and type in any question you have, and it should come up.
  24. Have pre booked a 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Bedlington Pup so that will keep me busy, usually do a bit of fishing for Rainbow Troots.
