  4. I used to visit an old Flapping track Greyhound enthusiast, if you visited him at teatime, his Wife would be cooking the Mince and Tatties, and on the next gas ring would be the Sheeps Heids boiling away for the Dugs. I will never forget that smell.
  5. Thought i was on some form of porn site.
  6. sorry i never got it, maybe someone on here will know if its still running.
  7. im from south west Scotland i inquired about this sometime a go. the nearest south is Lancaster, and North Kincardine near Stirling, bot would have involved a round trip of about 200 miles, which made it a no no for me. i live in no mans land, good hunting, but as far as racing, and shows if thats your thing, theres nothing.
  8. Fair enough your dogs are looking good on it, but why add more protein with meat, when you are feeding 28% protein. I received info on feeding gain from the rep, for my working whippet, who said to feed Gain 28% on its own. if adding raw meat which i was planning, to feed Gain 20% with a supplement. I'm sure you did mate...he's a rep...on commission maybe?????? Feed it on its own...feed more... shovel it in...don't add anything and I'll deliver another two bags next week... The way I have always done it is...feed the complete...whatever % and add meat or fish or whatever...so,
  9. I dont think the rep thought he was getting sales, as i told him right away, i only had one whippet, and i fed raw. we all have different feeding regimes, and what ever works fair enough, i am currently feeding my 12 wk pup four times a day, two meals of Gain puppy and two of raw with veg. i am only saying what done well for me, when my whippet was an adult and working, he was fed 1lb raw mince Beef, Lamb, or Rabbit veg, a handful of Gain 20% and a scoop of Keepers mix. two raw chicken wings for breakfast, and he looked well on it. This is what my pup will eventually go on. I would neve

  11. I worked a Whippet X bedlington for nine seasons great little bitch, best marker i ever had, you rarely went for a mooch without bringing back rabbit, or Pheasant. Was impressed, i got a pedigree Bedlington from working parents, but was not half the dog the bitch was. I have worked the Whippet x Bedlington the 3/4 whippet x 1/4 bedlington, and bedlington x Greyhound. and pure Bedlington. current pup is Dam, Bedlington X Whippet with a touch of Greyhound. Sire 23 inch mike brown bred Whippet. 11 Weeks.
  12. The Whippet X Bedlington are great little Dogs, good pot fillers. but i would prefer the 3/4 whippet x 1/4 Bedlington. should still have a decent nose, most will enter cover, and should give your more pace, I have worked both types, and would recommend them both.
  13. Like i say its a difficult one, if lets say you have ferreted for a number of seasons with a collie x whippet X greyhound, and the dogs been a good un, then this is the cross you will recommend, same with other crosses. that have excelled at the rabbiting game. Its all about what you fancy in the first place, one thing a rabbiting dog does need apart from nose and the usual pace etc, is a good set of feet, as these dogs usually work difficult terrain, woods etc. which can be dangerous places for a dog running flat out.
  14. Found a tube of Bob Martin spot on for ferrets, i don't use bob martin products, but i picked this up in Aldi for next to nothing. just put it on Ferrets says it protects from Flies, Fleas, Ticks, Lice, and Mites gives one Months protection.
  15. Looks a good product, but doesn't mention Ticks. 4 Spot on pipettes for the effective control of external parasites such as lice, fleas, mange mites and other mites and the control of internal parasites such as roundworms for up to 4 weeks. Suitable for use on small pets weighing over 300g.
  16. I discussed using Piriton with my Vet the other day, for Bee and Wasp stings, its very simple just one tablet for any type of dog, said its a very safe drug to use. on Nettles if your dogs are anything like mine have been, they hunt rabbits every day, so come in contact with nettles daily, so i would be given Piriton daily which i would not do. if there is some sort of wash, that would be useful rather than given a tablet.
  17. i agree, you wont get anywhere with this thread, ferreting lads all have different views, some like a bit of collie, others Bedlingtons, some like lurcher to Lurcher, and others the Whippet. All types should make decent rabbiting dogs, the thing is to get them out often enough, so they will hopefully pick the game up, They have to be fully stock proof, able to mark the burys, work with longnets, stop nets, and hold the rabbit in them. and of course get on with the ferrets. Theres a lot more for a good rabbiting dog, to learn than the point and go types. I would go to a few shows, there ar

  20. One of her pups. Whippet x whippet x Bedlington.
  21. genuine first cross Whippet X Bedlington.
  22. not wishing to be critical, but if you are planning to use the dog for rabbiting, should you not have asked this question before getting the pup.
  23. Always has, and always will be a popular cross, seems a strange question to ask on here.
