  1. Genuine ist cross Whippet x Bedlington, has flung a lot to the Beddy, but has been bred Whippet sire. Usually its the other way round Beddy sire.
  2. I never said bull or Greyhound had been added. And I never said it had never been added.
  3. The breeder of my pup looked at a few whippets, before going for the MB Dog, his reason for choosing him was, He is a really good worker. he is passing this on to his progeny, when breeding to Whippets or Lurchers. And his conformation. very well muscled Dog. Whether this has been the right choice, we will just have to wait and see. The Dog is KC reg, regarding the accusations of MB using Bull and Greyhound Blood. doesn't work any of his Dogs. And his Whippets are Slow. I know nothing, Ive never met the man, or spoke to him, or seen his dogs working. But im not blinded by MB as my la
  4. Half netters, you must have been on the Solway? thought i noticed Criffel on the background, nice photos.
  5. My Beddy x Whippet always ran silent, apart from chasing in a wood, where she would always give a few yips, but not a screamer, didn't stop her catching in woods. she did this all her hunting life.
  6. Sire and Dam of my pup, sire is MB bred a 23 inch Whippet who is 100% on all quarry. And is a producer of good working stock.
  7. Very nice, do you know his breeding background?
  8. Just had a book delivered by Amazon called Total recall, perfect response training for puppies and adult Dogs, Was recommended by a dog trainer. looks an interesting book with a different side to dog training. Anyone out there read it?
  9. Yes he did, his post was how to repair, just thought hanging the net on a tree line, was a handy wee tip. Im sure TC has put up posts already, on how to repair, a search, should find them.
  10. Not the whole answer, there a lot more lads with more experience than me , as I don't knit. but i found a row of trees nearly in a straight line, i banged in a nail in every tree, and hung out my 100 yarder, making it a lot easy to repair those holes. I don't net in the summer, but have done, for ferret food, and always found Milky Does were the worst at putting holes in your net at night.
  11. Looks a nice Bitch in the right hands, may be a decent rabbiting dog, but obviously has been in the wrong hands, wonder how much damage will have been done, if its true thats its been lamped since 5 months. Wonder if she had any basic training?
  12. Weight, weight, would rather carry two medium size Jills on my back, that will bolt Rabbits, than two heavyweight Hobs, But I also take out my vasectomized Hob on his own to give him a run, and keep him fit.
  13. Enjoyed the crack LC. Dam of above pups Beddy X Whippet.
  14. I knew a ferreting Lad who worked a pure Collie, brilliant marker, good around the nets, and usually positioned himself to catch any that slipped the net. And as above would take Pheasant, a really good ferreting companion he was.
  15. As ive said in other threads ive seen a few genuine first cross litters, all were bred from leggy hill Collies, that worked Sheep. These dogs worked all day out on the hill, not trial dogs.
  16. Theres usually Vets and rehome organisations do Chipping free, just had my Pup done at my Vets free of charge. Hope you find her soon.
  17. BS, you were in the presence of greatness.
  18. I very much doubt there are any wires, you could injure a dog, the cost of the wire, and the Manpower to put them down. I bet if you checked there would be none.
  19. I would imagine the Gain will include some Calcium?
  20. Field craft is a great thing, noticing which way the Rabbits run when bolted, in the first two photos, all the Rabbits were caught in the nets running down the slope, we did run a longer net running horizontal top and bottom, but when bolting, and the dog pushing, the Rabbits were taking in the side nets. So if doing this set again, you could try doing away with netting top and bottom of the set. And see if the run the same way again.
  21. Lads with a really good working Jill, at some point will want to breed to keep the line going. the problem is, ferrets usually have big Litters, which means a glut of Kits looking for homes. The Lads that have been working Jills for years and have developed a good strain, usually wont have a problem, as these Kits will be sourced. The problem is the Lads new to the game and breeding off Jills, that have only seen one or two Seasons work. maybe more need to use a Vasectomised Hob, or Jill Jab, or don't let your Jills near a Hob. Or if you need a replacement, instead of breeding, bring one
  22. Joe, give me a ring when your feeling up to it, and a weekend when your feeling better, we will come down with Jack for a visit. But don't rush into anything, remember and take things easy. And i will carry the big basket.
  23. I dont really know why i entered this thread, sorry Lurcherman, i must be bored, or it was raining. its really quite pointless, as one mans meat, is anothers poison. All depends on what your quarry is, and what land you run on. also if say five come on this thread and say they dislike Bulls, Salukis, Collies Bedlingtons etc. You will get another five that like these crosses. So the thread will just go round in circles, getting nowhere.
