  5. DAF, say this is a good seller offal based Lamb and Beef plucks am i right plucks are from the lungs, any good as a feed? Have used DAF in the past, those that do, how you finding the product? and what range does your dogs do best?
  6. I just used two rabbit snares stripped down and made into one, with the brass eyelet. tightens up really well, and never been broke. the thiner the wire the better on a good 6ft stick and wheek them out The bush hunters here use a length of fence wire, bent at the two ends with your hands, rigid enough, will not snap, and a lot thinner than a stick.
  7. I ran both, decent dogs, the Beddy x Grey was the better lamper, the beddy x Whippet was a better ferreting daylight dog. don't know what you mean by, not holding on, beddy x Whippets are Rabbiting and Ratting Dogs, and should be well able to hold onto the above prey.
  8. I bought some fiberglass poles from Nelson, at a good price, and he even flung in a 5 yard stop net complete with poles, as has been said a top man to deal with. Highly recommended.

  10. The kits were on preloved 30 pound each and I was looking for a silver ferret so I thought 10-20 for a silver these days and 10 petrol to pick it up. so I offered him 20 pound and he said yes he will take and so I set off and I saw the hob and jill and looked at the kits and I took the one I have. So what will you get for your £20, work wise, how do you think it will compare to your standard ferret. just interested in why you wanted it, was it colour, or do you think it will work better?
  11. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay, or was he free gratis?
  12. I dont usually post on these type of questions, but surely, this has to be a wind up, i'm surprised at the amount of members giving advice. but there again i could be wrong, hope not.
  13. Or go out with single ferret box, one ferret, half a dozen nets in pocket, no spade, no dug, and paunch your rabbits on barbwire.
  14. Bag, Probe, Secateurs, folding saw, cocktail sticks, stop nets. rabbit carrier. Last but not least, a marking Dug. Four poke nets.

  16. with the amount of Hare coursing threads on here from the UK, i'm surprised not more of you are done.
  17. For night work I only used 100 yds single handed, but sometimes went out with an old poacher and we would work 200 yds between the two of us, but have to say i caught more when working myself, this was traditional nets.
  18. The thing about me is the antis think we are heartless B------s my whippet had a serious accident, rushed him to the Glasgow animal hospital, cost me 3 grand but lost him.
  19. They way I see it, it doesn't matter what sport you go for, you have to spend money, if you take up shooting, you have to buy a gun, not cheap, archery your bow and kit etc, The dearest kit you need to buy for ferreting is the locator but once you have it, and look after, it should last for years. I have a mark1 which must be over 30 years old and still going strong. good bit of kit for a learner, teaches him to locate the rabbit with a dig, the more you use it, the more confident you become, and you should know where your ferret is underground, and save you a lot of waiting which can be a

  21. Well done, I see you have those square pins, how do you find them? They do the job, i've tried them, but didn't like them, prefer the round pin.
  22. All greyhounds MUST be muzzled in public....any smaller dog is potential prey, My mate races Greyhounds he has a NGRC trainers licence, i sometimes go down the shore with him to give them a run, the dogs are muzzled. These dogs are in training, and have been told by the owner they would kill a small dog, we have to make sure even when muzzled that there are no dogs about.
