  1. Had this problem, don't bother, with all the remedies they don't work, have tried them all. I have this with my present pup. they get better as they get older. I dont feed in the morning if taking him in the car.
  2. When it comes to ferts weld mesh is the way.
  3. If yer Mates Whippet is any guid, take it to another working Whippet thats throwing good stuff, If you don't fancy that, find a good working bedlington, they are the speediest in the terrier world, and their conformation compliments the Whippet, And if you breed right, they are usually sought after little dogs.
  4. I've been unlucky,Jack acts like a Bedlington Hopefully will get back lawn back to scratch in the Autumn.
  5. I know what your saying leeview, in the bad old days when a lot of ferts were fed bread and Milk, and the odd Rabbit in winter, now this was bad, and glad it has stopped, but I would have been giving Kits brought up this way, and i had some cracken workers. Would they have been better workers reared on meat, who knows?
  6. Maybe just the photograph, but it looks too long for me?
  7. We know this, but his Sire does what it says in the tin, and theres a few on here that would give him kennel space.
  8. Grandam was a 23 Whippet with a bit of Greyhound in her breeding. Grandsire was a Granitor strain Bedlington, Dam of the Pup 18 inch They are 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Bedlington. Grandam was a Whippet with a bit of greyhound blood. Sire was a 23 inch Mike Brown bred Whippet.
  9. Not all is lost, if you come across a good source of working strain kits, that have not been fed as they should, cat food etc, and this should not be happening, you can still take them and pump as much good food into them, they will be fine.
  10. You wouldn't go wrong with the R Month. better when the cover is down.
  11. if your dogs are kept proper you should have no cause to worry, ive been involved in running dogs for 45 years, and never had any problems from RSPCA, and I doubt i ever will.
  12. My mate had a visit last year, someone must have reported him, He knows his rights, but had nothing to hide, could have chased them, but let them see his dogs, he had just been inspected and passed for a NGRC licence, his kennels are brand new and heated, dogs run A1 races, they had a quick look, said everything was fine, and went on their merry way. Now cannot see any organisation going into premises taking away dogs and pts and then returning leashes, they would be leaving themselves wide open. You say the dogs were thin, how thin, is thin?
  13. Im pretty useless at sharpening knifes, my Daughter bought me the Lansky sharpening system, which i do okay with, i suppose a stone is the best, but I never got the hang of it.
  14. smear of gun oil What difference would gun oil make, compared to All in One or any oil?
  15. I like dogs with Bedlington in them, my preference is not going to far, just the first cross Beddy X Whippet, and finally back to the Whippet 3/4 Whippet X 1/4 Bedlington. When breeding again say two 3/4 dogs, you can end up with some whippety in type and others more to the Bedlington, not saying they wouldn't be good Rabbiting dogs. Funny all thing genetics, I really don't know much about it.
  16. Paulas do you keep the blade with a smear of oil or Silicone, or do use something else, or don't bother?
  17. My favorite jess knife for Rabbit paunching, very small fits in your pocket. He calls it a Moochers knife, i just wear it round my neck, as i lose things easy. Very light you wouldn't know it was there, and keeps a good edge.
  18. I have a piece of Cherry tree trunk as a chopping board, and use a small axe, which wasn't expensive, and is easily sharpened. My Rabbits are just fed to the dog and ferts.
  19. i have permission on a golf course, and the above post is the reason i have never lamped it. They do hold a lot of Rabbits, you need a dog with pace, but they are dangerous for a dog running flat out at night.
  20. What reason did they have to visit?
  21. Funny old site Ebay, was bidding for a King Keg Beer Barrel, they sell new with post £46 It was used and went for £55 plus £6 postage.
  22. Yer missus will never know its in the hoose.
  23. The conformation of the Bedlington, in my opinion lends itself to be a more suitable mating to a Whippet, And if its its for Rabbits and rats, then the Beddy cross should excell, not the easiest to find a good working Bedlington, but they are out there. Theres appears to be a good demand for Beddy X Whippets, and the 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Beddy. So if breeding of good stock, less chance of being landed with the pups, But like all breeding should be, unless the Bitch is an exceptional worker I would just look for a pup of the breeding you fancy.
