  8. im the same but mine are Rabbiting Dogs, i like them starting to mark, working with the ferrets, watching the rabbits hit the nets, and hearing the ferrets working the Rabbits below ground, all good experience. Talking about ferreting, not lamping, or long runs.
  9. I remember being at this show when it was at the other venue, standing watching the Lurchers, it was a warm day, and there were a few lads striped to the waist, beer cans in the back pocket doing a lot of loud swearing. Two women turned up with Kids to look at the dogs, but didn't stay long. hate to say it, but this was the only part of the show, that this cursing was going on. so we can be our worst enemy.

  11. Yeah there is a wee bit Greyhound in the Grandam.
  12. He is not chasing Rabbits, its a yorkshire terrier.
  13. Couple of nice images of jack he is looking good at five and a half months. Had him out with the ferrets the other day, for the first time, nice and steady and gave a positive mark on a bury that produced two rabbits. Well pleased. Aerodynamics are in the lugs.
  14. Not the same as a rescue centre, but years ago i always sold my spare stock at Lowther, which gave me enough to buy a replacement with new blood, The Lads with Ferrets could have told me anything about their stock. I have to say every one that came from Lowther turned out a decent wee worker. don't know if they still allow ferreters to sell their surplus at the show. I think the ones from a rehoming centre, would be certainly worth a punt.
  15. I have found its the same all, Main ring, casting display. Falcons, a few hounds. a bit of Gundog display. and usually Terrier racing.
  16. Contact pipa on here, he is the Man,
  17. You can't go wrong with peg to peg, you shouldn't be cutting hazel now, but when the saps at it lowest, September to february, You need to cut the wands the thickness of your little finger. Take the hazel and put one end into your arm pit, where your palm sits on the peg, is a good place to cut. point them and round the top and take the burrs of them. I tie them in bundles, and put them in the roof of my shed to dry out. Most of above is taking from the book, so buy it, and it will give you all you need to know. I was lucky I was taking under the wing of an old Poacher and netter, who sh
  18. I sometimes work wood piles, with stop nets some of these warrens are a fair length, and if on my own, an Albino, or Sandy is better for me to keep it in sight, than a Polecat. thats the only reason,
  19. Years ago the Lads I knew that bred Lurcher to Lurcher, if you were a potential buyer, and liked a certain breed, say a Beddy or a Border Collie, you could guarantee you would be told that it was in the breeding.
  20. Sorry about your loss, good to see you kept him to a ripe old age.

  22. Dont think its good enough they had plenty time to organise a proper Lurcher show as well as racing.
