  1. Thats a decent price, there usually a lot more.
  2. Mind and dry the hemp net before putting it away, I like hemp. went for a mooch the other day with a few hemp nets in my pocket, they must be 35 years old, and in great condition, I don't find them any trouble, just hang on a hook after use to dry. flops nicely, and they don't pick up too much debris. its a pity hemp has gone out of fashion, mind you don't know if i would fancy it in a stop net or longer, heavy when wet.
  3. Years ago i took a friend out lamping with my Whippet X Bedlington, he had never been before. He put the lamp on a boulder, thinking it was a rabbit, she ran down the beam and struck, and broke the top of one of her canines .
  4. It takes a lot of time and patience to end up with a good rabbiting dog, so cant see anyone selling a decent dog. Why don't you go for a pup of your liking, and train it up yourself.
  5. So far so good with the litter LC, looks like you have decent brood Bitch as well as a worker.
  6. I feed raw Rabbit, raw turkey thigh, mince etc and I have a bowl of Gain Puppy sapling fed adlib, the pup can help himself when he wants. If you can afford it, buy Penny Taylors excellent book Running dog Maintenance. Cover all injuries you could come across, plus chapter on conditioning. and a good chapter on feeding pups to adults.
  7. Bill, is that yer Ferreting Trews on that washing line.
  8. excellent price that mate. Did he point your fibreglass poles?
  9. 20 inches, will be six Months on the 8th of September. Had him out today for a wee mooch, took one Jill Ferret, and a few nets in my pocket, pup raised a Rabbit in a wood, lost sight of him, but found him marking the bury, popped in the Jill and a few rumblings, and one rabbit hit the net, All good experience, he is coming on fine.
  10. 20 inches, will be six Months on the 8th of September.
  11. Hope he makes 21, 22, or 23 not interested in anything bigger for the bunnies. not interested in deerhound or Suliki crosses . 3/4 Whippet X 1/4 Bedlington with a bit of Greyhound on the Grand Dams side.
  12. Nowt wrong with that Lawrence, mines out of a Granitor strain KC
  13. The old Lad that taught me, used to say, you have to regulate the net. He didn't like the bagging tied in, I would run the net out down the park, before a nights netting, pulling the bunches, like above, having no tight lengths , bagging equal right along the net, Then gather up, and your ready for your drop.
  14. The most unusual Animal i took out a net at night, was a Whippet X Bedlington. Balled up in the net, the first and last I took her out with the webs at night.
  15. Its a lot easy to learn now a days, with DVDs and sights like this, when i started there was nothing. and the old lads who worked the webs at night, wouldn't show a lad a birds nest, Luckily one took me under his wing and showed me ropes. I would suggest, if you cant get anyone to show you, try some of the dvds on long netting, some of the Lads on here will know the best ones on the subject. nothing better than hands on, but at least it will give you the basics.
  16. Getting my pup checked out with the Vet, and temp taken, he was running a temp, and the antibiotics cost me £18, the vet told me it could have been more serious if the dog was vomiting as well. and you state your pup is.
  17. I had the same with my Whippet when he was a pup, but no sickness, had a course of antibiotics, which cleared it up quickly, then a few days feeding Chicken. But I did not wait for four days, before going to the Vet. I would get the Pup into the vet, as four days for a Pup in this condition is not good. especially as the pup is being sick as well as being loose.
  18. That looks a nice wee set for a nights netting.
  19. Strange one, Beddy Whippets usually take to rabbiting, like Ducks to water.
  20. In the end up I used to keep an eye on her when walking through fields with Hares, as she became an expert dabbing them in the den. not very sporting.
  21. My 18 inch bitch raised a Hare many years ago, in January, and after a course over two fields caught it, I was so chuffed I had the Hare mounted, but my wife hated it, so being really stupid I sold it on.
  22. A lot depends on what ground you are ferreting, i have ground were letting a dog catch with no nets, you would not have many rabbits, also there are places where a few stop nets will not work, and others where they will be handy. So really you take to your ground what will work best.
  23. I have the book, excellent, covering feeding and all type injuries, you will come across, and of course, conditioning, recommended.
  24. Being serious, I usually take, 2 Jills in a small carrying box, Net bag with about 30 nets, Small stop net basket, takes 4 stop nets, Bulldog spade, Locator and collars. Knife and secateurs. Sometimes take my old post office bag for the rabbits or take a rabbit carrier, My PO bag has a probe in the bottom of the bag, not necessary, but I find it useful. its 2ft so not heavy. and not forgetting Jack my 3/4 Whip 1/4 Beddy pup who is serving his apprenticeship.
