If you disturb a Rabbit and it pops down a hole, theres a good chance it knows you're there, or if your dog puts a rabbit into its bury, If its not deep then you can go ahead, and if no bolt, should be easy to dig out. if it looks deep, sometimes best to leave it, and ferret other burys, going back to it later, and the rabbit may bolt, but not everything works in ferreting, but the above method is always worth a try, I have done this many times with success. but would the rabbit had bolted if ferreted right away, well who knows.

He is doing okay, enjoys his ferreting, .

Moleskin Breeks Or Full Trousers
Country Joe replied to Country Joe's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
Good advice Netrigger, plus 4s would be right up my street, always wanted a good pair of shite catchers with bloomers. -
My mate feeds raw meat Salmon etc, he has four Greyhounds currently running NGRC he has a trainer's licence, and they are weighed before a race, and have to be spot on, and he manages it, on this type of feeding regime.

Thinking of buying a pair of moleskins, years since i last had a pair, as i do most of my ferreting in wellies, what would you prefer, the breeks or full trousers?

If anyone has land with a lot of Rabbits, I don't think they would put the info up on a public forum.

Aigle Parcours Wellies Help Me Out.
Country Joe replied to Country Joe's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
Sorted bought a pair at Campbell's Country supplies, 30% off in a sale, see what you mean, these are not neoprene, but I can get a thick pair of socks on no bother. Tried the same size in neoprene, far too tight, would have to go up a size, which they didnt have. Will see how I get on with them, and if I like them, will order a pair of Neoprene. -
Your dug, will soon learn to jump the nets, i'm sure you will have a good days sport, cant beat it, watching the rabbits bolt and the dog chasing them into the net. different from the purse nets but exciting sport. ENJOY.

Been looking at this post, and it pops up time and again MBs Strain are not as fast, im sure if you were interested in racing, you would go for lines with top class racing blood, but speed is not everything. Im sure MBs Whippets will be fast enough to pick up Rabbits, and thats all you want, I had a 18 inch Whippet X Beddy, that took plenty of rabbits on the run, and im sure a MB Whippet would be capable of showing her a clean pair of heels. Regarding the peds V hard bloods, I have never seen non peds worked, I can only go what an owner told me, said they can be too fast for their own g

My pup was worried by a Lakeland when he had his milk teeth, there was no need for it, just a full attack, the owner had one of those extended leads, which was fecking usless, it just shot out the full length to get the pup. my pup was not on a leash, and he claimed i was in the wrong as his dog was on a leash. cost me £20 for treatment. Im sure your pup will learn to cope, and will put game in your bag. You have to be congratulated for sticking with the dog, He or she sounds a right game tyke. ATB.

Aigle Parcours Wellies Help Me Out.
Country Joe replied to Country Joe's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
will do, decided after 40 years of hunting rabbits, to buy a decent pair of wellies, and might as well be trendy, so im going to buy a pair of moleskin breeks. and with my old torn wax proof jacket i will be ready for a good ferreting season. -
Started 30 years ago, only night work with the traditional. Don't really do night work now, but enjoying the basket system with stop nets when ferreting.

Thanks everyone, will head out to this store, not too far away from me, would have used on line, but prefer to try on footwear. if they don't fit its a hassle sending them back -
You never know, but I would be looking at 19, 20, or 21, could be a little over, you will just have to wait and see, has she much knuckle? had two beddy crosses many years ago, both were 18, never held them back catching rabbits.

Thinking of getting a pair, theres no shops in my town sell them, so cant try them on, im a size 9 but usually get a 10 in wellies, would Aigles be the same? wanting a pair to wear summer and winter, what would you suggest, a 10 with thick socks for the winter? would imagine neoprene would be too warm other than winter. some are giving away a free wellie bag, any good as my Wife always complains about wellies in hall?

I bought a pair of Muck boots the Tay, be warned they were 2 months old, I was going down a hill not to steep, with wet grass, and a fence running down the side, feet just went from me, grabbed the fence, and ended up in A&E 4 stitches in my finger. Emailed muck boots telling them the tale, and they never bothered to apply. their soles are shite. Now going to buy either Aigle Parcours or Le Chameau. What ever i look good on. those superlights, for some strange reason, they have stopped making them.

Have a look at the post Rabbiting Dogs, there a lot of photos on there, different types that are used mainly for rabbits. do your homework on a type you really fancy, then look for a pup out of good working stock.

Keep the priest for the silver fellas, and learn to neck or chin them.

When I ordered poles from Nelson, he put in a stop net free gratis, bagging on it was perfect. Good man to deal with, my only gripe is him not pointing his poles, as i don't have a grinder.

White feet, that is one bonney dog, got a nice deep chest on him.

You get lads saying they cant be bothered with hemp nets, but you just take them out your net bag and hang on a hook in your shed, only takes a matter of mins.
