  1. easy mate, friend of mine has a 6ft tank with small common and ghost carp in it although obviously they will out grow it in time, a good filter and excellent water quality is the key really Thanks for that. What kind of cost would I be looking at for a decent set up? Say a 3-4 ft tank and a good filter. Is the water quality hard to get right/ keep right? Many thanks, HJ cold water set up,4ft tank and filter, plus your bits and bobs although no need for a heater prob around £150/£200,rough guess lol, also you will need something very sturdy to put it on,heavy as f*

  3. On photobucket there will be a little box near the picture that says 'IMG CODE' just copy and paste that onto your post and the picture will come up when you post.
  4. How hard is it to keep coldwater fish? like small carp, roach, perch etc? Im moving house at the moment but once im done I might look at getting some fish.
  5. Ive done it with fully grown hobs, you have to be condent, quick and firm with it. Really push back into its throat. I've often thought about putting lemon juice or similar on my knuckle first as a double deterant. Cant do any harm. I would perservere as your fighting a losing battle when they are older. I've never found any other techniques work, flicking noses etc is all shit. edit forgot to ad that when I do it I offer the knuckle in the middle of my fingers not the one at the base of the fingers. This way you can push into its mouth alot more. It will hurt and it will chew somet
  6. Ive used this stuff too and worked well for me.
  7. Offer it your knuckle if it bites it push it gently down the little feckers throat so it gags, that way it instantly assosiates biting with that. It works very well, feck all this stroke it gently for 3 years and it will come round. Just do what I said and it will work in a short time.
  8. How would farms opperate? You sound like the ignorant townie tossers that 'escape to the country' around me
  9. Titchy what kind of weights are the plastic boxes in comparison with the wood? Would be good to know what a double plastic weighs and a double ply wood? atb, HJ
  10. The trouble with warm and waterproof is in my experience it also meens big and clumsy. They are warm to a point, a lot warmer than bare hands! I dont really suffer from cold hands though so I might not notice it as much.
  11. I normally wear a country shirt, moleskin trousers etc ferreting, good to look smart on permission. I've got a few fleece lined shirts that are fecking good anyway. To be honest I dont see why I wouldnt as its good gear more comfortable than jeans etc. I wouldnt go overboard with it as you end up looking a tosser..... Its the ones at the game fairs that make me laugh full tweed, full camo etc they all need to feck off and get a life lol.
  12. Nice if you want to look a twat lol. Do you do them in black/green etc? as to be honest I think the camo looks abit naff.
  13. 4-5 inch is as big as you need. Some pegs I see people use could stake up an angry rhino
  14. Just be greatful of the permission to shoot. Paid rabbit work is a diferent ball game and best left for the pro's or at least until your more experianced.
  15. What kind of an example would that set to the public about ferreters? Just treating it like a play thing, abit of a laugh. You wouldnt do the same do a dog (and dont tell me you would) so you shouldnt to a ferret. If you turned up ferreting with a ferret like that my first thought would be messer and second would be 'piss off home'. Permission is hard to win easy to lose I think its important to look and behave professionally and that ferret just makes you look a complete and utter amatuer.
  16. My collie whippet grey has a coat similar to this. Her hair was like a cat when she was a pup but has gone abit more smooth now, long on top and on the tail and around the ears. Will try and get some pics up soon.
  17. Fecking joker just snip abit of hair of its tail....or better still get to know your ferrets..........
  18. The bulldogs are ideal for small holes but arent worth a wank when you have to go deep as you cant remove the loose quick enough imo I think your best of with a trench type spade/shovel with a decent angle on the head. Around here anyway as alot is sand so digging small narrow holes is worthless.
  19. Nice fish, I would say about 5lb. Strange rod?! Thats a drennan if i am not mistaken, the best imo lol atb, HJ
  20. November, but january-feb are the best months for me. I never ferret in the summer months, I'd rather not have permission that do that.
  21. Thats a nice old mark up on them fish, great deal to fellow hunters. 38 dollars on that site, and thats to the public! ps, whats advantages does the 'multi layer hardwood laminate' have over ply wood? lol.....
  22. Ive got a pair of macwet gloves and think they are excellent. I hate gloves normally but you dont even notice they are on they fit so well, I wear them ferreting all the time, great around nettles, hawthorn etc. They are not waterproof but rain etc ive never noticed my hands are wet, and they dry out very quickly from body heat. As I said I normally hate any gloves but these really are good if anyone is thinking about getting some. They come in sizes like 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5 etc....so you can get them to fit just right. They are not massively warm but take all the windchill off and alwa
