not this place we have been going for months and its crawling with them. this farmer is well and truly peed off with them. hences us going early than we would like. myxie is just starting to show but if we get rid oif them now then hopfully it wont take hold and we can enjiy the true ferreting season as well. Up at one of the farms in the Dales again today. Me Nigel & Harry and the 2 whippets Fly and Dodger arrived to find lots of low cloud and a very grey day. We had a couple of large sets to ferret to begin with that we had seen the last time we were up on this place . We ferreted these with good results and soon had a few rabbits in the bag. As we walked up the fell we came across a ram in a ditch that had been on it`s back for a while. We tried to get it up on it`s legs but it didn`t look too good. A quick call to the farmer notified him of the ram , which he came up later to sort out, We

pest Control in the Dales
Chickens4ever05 replied to Chickens4ever05's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
we know the land and our limits. what i dont understand is if the ground is 2 hard now when do you run the dogs. in england we have about 5 days a year with ideal ferrting weather the rest would be to hot, 2 cold, ground baked 2 hard, frozen solid to muddy, 2 boggy, 2 dusty, grass 2 sharp nettle to high. to many rushes, to many hedge rows, 2 many rabbit holes, when would you take your dog out for a run in ideal conditions we just dont get them. THE WAY SOME ON HERE GO ON YIOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE ANTIS. tell me what is wrong with this dog, he is mega kean and loves every minute wil -

Chickens4ever05 replied to Chickens4ever05's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
get over it my dogs are more than capeable and have proved it. At least we all know where we stand with the whippets. good quality proven dog good stamina, nose, FEET ect why not offer him out to stud, i have not let him be used yet as i dont feel the [bANNED TEXT] bitch has come along that deserve what this firey young dog can offer. As for kits i bred 2 jill last year and kept 2 jills back for myself, i have some cracking young kits on at the minute which alot have gone to pet homes and a few for working i dont breed anything i dont have a demand for. your [bANNED TEXT] these fields -
pest Control in the Dales
Chickens4ever05 replied to Chickens4ever05's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
as for other methods niegther of us shoot and we all know snaring has to be check morning and night and a 2 hour drive aint feesable, as for winter crop its called grass used to make silage, haylage and hay. dontr worry about us if you dont like it dont post if you had the permission to go on you would be at it yourself, why is it always leeview on working whippet post having ago, think you need to spend more time in the field letting the dogs and ferrte do the job they love the ground at this place is nice ground for running on and one the more piecs still very wet. happy hunting -
pest Control in the Dales
Chickens4ever05 replied to Chickens4ever05's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
great pics its seems its always seems to be new permission for the reason for the "pest control" would ya not think instead of ferreting young rabbits and killing them in their nests that snaring would be a better alternative than bolting to whippets on such hard ground? therefore saving the very young rabbits and saving possible injury for yer dogs? why would you save young rabbits? its pest control these farmers are wanting rid not someone to come when it suits them for a bit of sport or conserving pest till wintert a working whippet can manage that ground all day long -
pest Control in the Dales
Chickens4ever05 replied to Chickens4ever05's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Tell the farmer that when there cutting crop for winter cattle feed and he is getting % less grass of his field than last year this farmer is well and truly peed off with the amount of rabbits hence why we are there this time of year, this is new permission and a quick impact needs making to keep permission. plus its not just crop its the digging causing injuries to cattle and damage to ground. yesterday myself and Nigel were out with Dodger and Fly revisiting the farm rom last week to keep the farmer happy. Fly has really matured over the past few months and really coming in to her own in the field. here are a few pics a nice Squatter this was a real good run strike abd catch for Fly a photo of one of the warrens with 15 rabbits sat outside

My self and Nigle had a trip to the dales this morning to a farm which needed a visit before the end of the season. The Farmer showed us the where he had seen a few and there was certainly a few knocking about. with the jills being in season i took my sandy hob and a sandy jill who is not yet in season, they worked hard to give a few bolters, the big fell killed in under a tree which was hard digging, and unforchanatly the jill found a nest and wiped them out so we called it a day. Jack and Dodger worked well and seened to work well together with Jack basically flushing them out of th
