  1. I have a young 18 month springer, he has been out a dozen times thtis year, absolutely no problems and he hunts like hell in the brambles, it doesn't seem to make much difference, i have wondered if it is because a full tail wags slower, or maybe the extra fur helps?
  2. Mine is keen but you have to be a bit careful with him, we only use him on open land we know well. the retrieve can be a bit patchy as well....but seein him run up the lamp the speed is awesome, he is like a f****g rocket. i don't think the feet thing is any worse than most fast lurchers. their main trouble is that their coat is so thin and so is there skin, barb wire shreds them instantly, even thorn and brambles can cut them up quite badly. You can work a greyhound like a lurcher, they love it (and are good at it), but you have to be that much more careful, and you do need open land coz
  3. I will check it out and see if there are any near me down here thanks
  4. good point, but should other people be able to stop my dog if he is being a pain? will get on amazon then, Ta
  5. I got an ex racer greyhound 4 years old, he now lives in a house with a cat, doesn't eat the ferret, can catch a rabbit on a lamp and doesn't p*ss in my front room anymore......anything is possible, it just might take a little bit longer than you hoped!! i am now going to try the same with my new springer from who knows what stock.....god help me.... you get out what you put in ....best of luck and enjoy the ride
  6. Thanks for the reply, i will get him trained to that, my dog is not kc registered but he is an english springer no doubt, do these clubs allow him in or does he have to be registered?
  7. i am new to the whole world of spaniel craziness, and whilst i know what i want to train the dog to do, quartering, retrieving etc, i am not sure about is whether there are a certain set of commands which everyone uses or does each dog have its own set of words and whistle blasts which he understands?
