  1. Does anyone know when I'm allowed to shoot canadian geese? A bloke on a shoot told me theyre classed as a pest now and their protection has been lifted. A local farmer has asked me to look into it as he has hundreds on his fields and theyre wrecking the grass and river/lakes. Whats the law folks?
  2. Top advice. otherwise you may as well take blanks!
  3. I wasn't aware the firing pin came into contact with the 'bullet' at any time, only its casing. perhaps your puttin em in the wrong way pal.
  4. A Rimfire weapon only pinches the rim of the ammunition to detonate it. A Centrefire weapon strikes the centre of the ammunition(primary charge),the same as most shotguns. Not sure if you get a rimfire shot gun, would be nice to know but i've never seen one. Hope this is of help,Jim.
  5. The problem is Jim, you have to have good reason for the Semi. Also, every quary you want to kill has to be approved and listed. So if you have a 6 shot semi for Pigeon control (good reason) you couldnt use it on pheasant or Rabbit, unless listed. So if you use your shottie alot, you do need an SGC. Ridiculous.....really Matty I see now. seems daft but i suppose thats life! Thanks for all your comments.
  6. You'd think you could keep a shotgun on a FAC. as specially if it was for a large caliber rifle. So if got a 6 shot semi auto variation on my FAC,i can do away with a SGC? seems daft to me.
  7. I use shooters aid as well. top notch plugs!!
  8. Hi again, my FAC expires in july 2012 but my SGC expires in september this year. Firstly,do i need to re apply for it with the same form as the original one when i first applied, with plenty of notice, and secondly, how do i go about getting both on one certificate? Or is there a separate form for this? My issuing force is Winsford,Cheshire. someone told me i couldnt do it because of the differing expiry dates. Its all seems a bit complicated to me. but i might be being thick!!
  9. Both have good and bad points Dive bottles need filling from time to time, are bulky, need an annual safety inspection, but a doddle to fill up your pcp. Hand pumps are lightweight, fairly maintainence free, but not cheap(£70-£100) and using one is like an hour at the gym! HARD WORK! It depends what your using your pcp for,if your always at the range get a dive bottle,if out in the field controlling vermin, get a hand pump. Ideally get both if your pockets are deep enough! Hope this is of help Jim
  10. There's no set length required by law as long as its secure, and i guess it depends on how big your cabinet is, and the wall your fixing to? I used 3''(76mm)x0.5''(12.7mm) Rawl bolts into a brick wall for my 4 gun cabinet. make sure you use the right drill bit!! Most cabinets have holes in the base, so you always have the option of floor fixing as well for extra security. Hope this helps you mate JIM
  11. You can download a PDF from here: http://www.czub.cz/navody/cz511_en.pdf The trigger unit is released via a push-in clip. That just comes out and the action can be dismantled for cleaning. A bit of a tip is to take the magazine apart aswell and give it a good clean out. Mine were full of crud, and were not cycling subsonics properly. Nice one mate.
  12. Anyone any tips/clues on how to dismantle the firing mech on a .22lr cz511? took the stock off but not sure after that! bore snaked the barrel and cleaned as much crud out of the chamber as i could, but the action still feels a bit gritty. bought second hand with no manual.
