  1. Vibration or whatever, definitely encourages prey movement. You only have to observe the amount of mole activity , along suitable stretches, of motorway/carriageway, verge, to confirm that.
  2. ?, ...& I used to try & find the run between two molehills with a trowel, taking out far too many earth sods, ? trying to achieve it, courtesy of "moles & their control" book , by Guy N Smith ! (way back) a didn't know what a 'probe' was then , unheard of by me
  3. ROLFE, (previously on here) favoured them, & gave a good tutorial with pictures, etc,..if I remember
  4. Sorry, you put "bought" ,..I thought I read "brought" ? (hey, its been a long day,..)
  5. Seen a guy on YouTube, recently routinely , trap place, below the molehill. Used to hear alot (starting out, decades ago) NEVER try & set below a molehill,...
  6. What, you reckon you were the first to introduce the Talpex over here, Phil ? (didn't realise that, either)
  7. Why do you only prefer to use only Talpex, in gardens, mate ? ,..just curious ?
  8. Is this where I first heard about it then...I can't remember ? ?,...& no wonder , anyone giving out good tips, it gets well copied & repeated !,... ? (it's all good, though,..)
  9. Yes mate, am familiar with the speed bump, technique, with the Talpex ?
  10. Probably only the one mole , regarding that photo, Phil. So a man of your experience, will only be setting the one trap, for it , then ? ??,..& a wee £50 price tag, for it, added to the bill !! Iol
  11. Recently had one or two Talpex, fail, (sprung) mole had dug & formed a new tunnel below the trap. Rather than change tack,...I decided to reset in new lower tunnel, again , a miss, mole dug below again. (I would definitely, change tack, by now,...but decided to set the trap again, at the even lower depth tunnel, & bingo ! ,....(2 misses is rare, cause I would normally change things after any first fail) So 3rd attempt , same trap , same hole, captured. I pondered this & realised it coincided with temperature really dipping, through the evening & night,........whether that was t
  12. I'm just glad , it's usually only the odd mole , that's awkward, or doesn't get caught, first couple of attempts, if a high percentage of them were commonly difficult to catch in traps (of whatever type), then it's a whole different outlook, & the trapping game, largely loses its appeal,....then they'd be looking to rely on a chemical control method, solely, for dealing with mole damage.
  13. & forestry companies paying the most per acre, for any ground, up for sale
  14. Tell you, increasing trend up here, is to convert farmland over to tree planting, now ?,...not good, (try reverting that back in future ! ) Grants must be good for it, at the moment ? Quite a few are participating in it now
  15. Sheep prices at market where high for a while up here, maybe dipped slightly now.
  16. Aye, it's all changing now though, that we are out of Europe. Some new grants (England) a heard, might be geared towards , environmental/conservation, as a requirement ? (maybe moles will be preserved in future ? ?)
  17. They are struggling too, but, look at the price of fertiliser, now ? ? ?

  23. I think I could get a moleskin coat out o that lot, now, mate !
  24. Too right , they migrate back in , through main runs,...interesting account there, & multiple catches ! heard random somewhere, young moles can travel up to 1km, too find a territory, whether that's through existing tunnels, or partially above ground, I wouldn't know,..
