  1. I should also add, that alot of the 'moderators', are actually 'valuable contributors' ,themselves on here ! LOL
  2. Does anyone know if "loguns" "facebook" site, is still on the go ? ,because i thought all the 'moaners' on here, would have jumped ship by now. LOL
  3. I know what you mean, also "rolfe" ,and a few others.I think the final straw for "moley" was a mods attitude,(personality clash ,or whatever) I know for a FACT, a few of the 'moderators' ,are extremely disliked, but i dont think its right to blame them, for everything.Im aware the mods can be wrong,on occasion, but on the whole they are usually 'fair' with everyone. You also have to recognise,it cant be an easy job for them,on here. ps (Please correct me if im wrong,Moley. LOL)
  4. Litters can be slightly later,up here.(scotland).There was still a few 'sows' bursting to drop,as late as the 9th may,in my neck of the woods.Theres been at least two golf courses, and a couple of gardens,i was to attend, but havent bothered, since mid-May.Ive decided to let the young 'wean', become semi/fully independant, etc.I dont usually do this, but i must be getting a bit 'soft', as i get older.......ha-ha-ha.
  5. Funnily enough, i just bought " Sporting Gun " today, ( a new one for me ) because i heard an article, i was interested in,was in it.I was pleasantly surprised, cause there was a good range of topics, and a fair amount of interesting (to the countryman) stuff.
  6. Thanks for telling us,mate. I dug deep, and purchased the magazine today.Enjoyed the read.
  7. Good question mate.I wonder what percentage 'National trust Scotland' wanted left,So they were at an acceptable (or manageable) level.
  8. I should know,i got some before. But i cant remember, they were there for a good while.Mines might have been justified at the time, but other guilty parties involved, were strangely overlooked........Something to do with, if you want to be a " girl ",and complain, about a member.I could have done the same to my opposites, but just took it on the chin.......LOL
  9. Known about this job for quite some time,..the lads are local to me ... The rat baiting gig went to some pro's from New Zealand,...it cost thousands ! Was chatting with the Contractor recently and he mentioned how difficult it was to move rabbits with the ferrets.. The rabbits seemed to stick tight, rather than bolt ... He also told me that they had to travel back into England in order to sell the rabbits. The National Trust owns Canna and, in this instance, they were not keen on risking lost ferrets, possibly ending up, as the only predators on the Island,..so it was strictly a sh
  10. just out of curiosity mate, why do they want the rabbits culled,in the situations your refering to ?
  11. originally, it was estimated there could be up to 16,000 !! bunnies on the place.I heard (on good authority) not quite, but still fecking thousands.....lol
  12. I only learned recently that a couple of rabbiting boys from down south, were awarded the contract,on the wee island of 'Canna ' ,up here off the west coast. The same place had a massive rat problem, previous to this, but unfortunately an outfit from New Zealand, got it that time.So im obviously glad it went to a crowd from these shores at least LOL, (even though their englishmen !!) he-he-he.
  13. Youve certainly highlighted the potential pitfalls with it there, mate LOL . I love this line, at the end of the article, " To date David has concentrated on the more lucrative retail market, but would be happy to hear from professionals ". Two responses to this, i dont think you would ,really, and pi.. o.. !
  14. Youve got to laugh, Moxy. I see on the site, that some "master" molecatchers, from the "Guild",are recommending it !!! Says it all really...........The trap looks ' amateurish' to me.Again,Professionals, encouraging the householder (potential customers) ,to do it themselves................
  15. These 'organisations' are encouraging people with 'mole problems', to learn to do it themselves.Rather, than to pay a professional molecatcher.... Dont get me wrong, this ' type' ( who are usually not short of cash), dont want to pay,a moleman anyway. With all the 'training' available nowadays, they now have the option...........Also how 'sustainable' is it really going to be for everyone whos interested,in the long run, with the amount of people being ' churned ' out , who want to start up ?
  16. I know im moaning about it all....LOL.About 10 to 15 year ago, a mole trapper (like myself) round here, was as rare as hens teeth ! I just didnt expect the current level of interest, in the game, that there is now....with all the 'newbies' coming out the woodwork. The BTMR claim to be for professional molecatchers, and encourage you to join. The trouble is ,that they are also MORE than happy, to train up the molecatchers clients/ potential clients !!! on these courses..........and the GBM,are much the same........
  17. Recently, a farm manager, asks me to tackle some silage fields.Went along today ,and noticed some ' markers ' on the ground.Turns out a lady relative, from a neighbouring farm,is having a go with some traps. (free of charge,of course ! )The FM wasnt aware, but it turns out,she was given some instruction, and supplied with traps, from a local business man, (with too much time on his hands, apparently !) Surprise Surprise ! , he attended the BTMR course at some point,so it seems hes some sort of authority on moles now ! Someone else from the farm suggests, that there is plenty of ground to go at,but
  18. No offence, but i just dont see the point,of this.............
  19. This doesnt necessarily mean, that the mole has departed............
  20. Not court anything? Easiest quarry of all to catch,,,,,you must be doing something wrong,,,ile show you if you get up the dales with me this week Well, thats a matter of, opinion...
  21. Ive enjoyed this topic. Ive never tried snaring rats, and im impressed by the skill involved,in this method.
  22. Just bagged a pair of brasher hillmasters (original) i think, off ebay.Paid £79.99.Ive had a pair of ' supalites ' a while now, theyre well beat up,but still waterproof, and both types are leather lined,in the interior.Cant believe i got them for that price, the seller had quite a few up,in a range of sizes.
