  1. Thank you for your answer, Allysin! Could you please check it on your terrier if it is not incredibly huge on it? I have terriers of about 12" and wonder if it will not be too heavy and big for them? Well, maximum their neck will get more muscular hihi. :-) What is the price of it at your place? I am about to check it in more countries, because I guess we (Hungary, Central-Eastern Europe) are an expensive country for these kind of things. Thank you in advance, Anna
  2. Hi, I used to take my dogs out for bigger walks on the fields and in the forest and we also go to wild boar hunts so I think to buy a locator for them. (Pretty much like the Deben/Ortovox/B&F, but it is for above ground and for more range.)Do you have any experience with it? Which one would you buy and why? As for GPS I checked the Garmin Astro 220, for Radio there are countless options, mostly are smaller and for smaller range, which is also influenced by the geographical sites (but also cost maximum half of the price of the GPS). I have Jack Russells and I was told the coll
  3. Mate, don't take it as an offence, please, but in my opinion it's not a working dog you are talking about. "the dam is used for rats and has never been to ground" and "the sire was a stud dog and i do not know if he has beeen worked" means you have 2 pets which have a litter. Not many terriers would tourn away from a rat - but it doesn't make them a working terrier! If all the info you have of the sir is that he is a stud dog, it means (to me) that he wasn't worked much. If he would, you would probably hear about its work first. Please don't take it hard, mate, I'm for you and not against
  4. Wish you'll find a suitable one, mate! ATB, Anna
  5. She was most probably kicked out because of holding a non-British dog. *joking* Are Magyar Vizslas (Hungarian Vizslas) are so popular? ATB, Anna
  6. Amazing! Credit to your wife! ATB, Anna
  7. This what i was wondering. I always thought russells where predominantly white. But this guy told me it was a black an tan russell. Ive never came across them before so didnt know anything about them. Just wanted to know what their temperment is like with kid and other dogs. Aswell as the background on the working history of the breed just. So do you think it would be a fell X russell? I think it is a mix. If you want it for work, then check the anchestors working, see if it fits to what you like from a terrier and take it or not. Good dog deosn't come in bad color. I think it is nea
  8. I think B&T and Russells don't match. The dog is either a Russell and than predominantly white with markings, or B&T and then it's fell. You want the dog, or you want a Russell? ATB, Anna
  9. That's nice to hear! All the best with him! ATB, Anna

  13. Very important to make him understand what you want! If you call him, call him only 2, but maximum 3 times, not more! (Otherwise he will get used to you shouting his name, or calling him for minutes and nothing has to happen). And when calling him and expecting him to go to you, don't start to go towards him while calling his name!! It will mean to him that the order "come!" (or "here!") means that you go and (try to) collect him. Many make the mistakes by not teaching the dog exactly what they want by saying "come!" (or "here!"). In case you punish him for not coming, make yoursel
  14. Beware! He may soon learn what you use his squeaky chicken for! As soon as he'll understand that it's a sign of "getting caught" and going home, he'll stop being interested in it - when it's in YOUR hand. If you want to keep his intension to come back to you whenever you want, you'll need more than just a squeaky toy. You need to make order in your relationship (with him I mean) and make him feel that coming to you is a good thing! ATB, Anna
  15. Hi, Some videos of Victoria Steelwell may help you. She is a good trainer and has good tips. I would stratr training with the dogie at a place where there are not many interesting things. For example in your garten. If the "pup" comes back, give it some treat, little foog, play with him for like 3-5 seconds and let it go immidiately! Let it learn that coming back to you is a good thing and not neccessairly means that he will be caught and put on lead, or something (other) boring thing. Reading the book of Jan Fennell "The Dog Listener - Learning the language of your best friend" is als

  17. Tell your wife, us, human go house trained in 1,5 years, so she should be a bit patient! ATB, Anna
  18. Pups mostly pee and poo 1-5 minutes right after sleeping, eating and playing. If you take care that in those times you take the pup out and say "good girl" when peeing outside - it will soon understand what the point is. Never blame them for urinating inside the flat by pushing their nose into it! They just don't get what the point is! And never punish them minutes after the thing is done - they can connect the act and the corollyary (here: punishment) only for about half a minute! Edited to say: yes, you expect too much, at this age they can not keep it for the whole night. ATB,
