  1. Can’t argue with that advice I don’t think. I have an L200 and a Rodeo I prefer the Rodeo as an all rounder but the L200 has its points. Defenders are F**k**g use less on road and off road with out a winch but cheap and miserable that can be hosed down easily + they look the part!!

    big hobs

Jigsaw I was answering two questions in one in my last reply. I tend to use Hobbs for most of my ferreting as I find jells kill more but……..a big Hobb looks good I think not fat just a nice wide strong back. My working Hobbs are all medium to large size but if you can be arsed digging a Jill does get 'em one way or another!!

Im sure that jills kill more than hobb do know i tend to work just hobbs. Plus you cant beat a nice big ferret it looks the bizz!!
  4. Well this is the thing I hear to very different things about the pure whippet those who have them would have nothing else those who don’t have them seem to hate them!! Some say great ferreting dogs others say the have to short a concentration span. Some say they take the odd fox others say the fox gets the odd whippet!! ….? Some opinions based on photographic evidence would be great thanks
  5. So what do you all think of the pure whippet as an all rounder. Please give a for and against answer or two of the same, cheers.
  6. I had a staff x jack and it was with out doubt the hardest f**cker I have owned I’m sure I will live to be with out him but he was the best I have had to date miss you fellow…..he died last Sunday two years old shit happens
  7. Well done you! It’s sad but this time of year I seem to get the odd one hear and there till the season starts again. Some of my best workers over the years have been rescue ferrets. I feel that too many people buy the ferrets first and then come on this site and ask what to feed them and so on when I started I read as many books as I could and had plenty of backup off family and friends that kept them already. I’m all for giving (and asking) advise but not on basic needs of an animal.
  8. Breed albinos then As I said im looking for a black eyed white not an albino if I need to breed an albino or two along the way then so more the better as I want a black eyed white stock bred to my persnol needs. not a stock of albinos! as that would be easy!! As I dont hunt with hawks what is it that makes them esier to train to albinos Millet?
  9. Nice one gnipper! Any one got an albino Jill’s then!! I know that it makes no odds to a ferret what colour they are its just I like breeding to get a ferret that has all the qualities that I am looking for in a working ferret. And now that I am happy with there temperaments I would like them to be of a white colour due to the kind of terrain that I work them over and it makes for an exiting breeding season trying to achieve this.
  10. I think that is very early never had them that early before. Congratulations! Can’t beat watching them grow up can you, love it!
  11. I have sandy coloured hob and Jill (related) would like to bring in new blood as well as a new colour. Have plenty of hobs so don’t want to get one of them really but have got space for a Jill. I also have a silver hob but has a faint mask which I don’t want as they will be more than likely polecats too. What do you recon?
  12. Has any one in the North Wales area got a black eyed white ferret Jill for sale or swap for a polecat Jill or Hobb? Or if any one has a black eyed white Hobb for loan please PM me cheers, Branch.

    BEDDING

I always but down wood shavings (it keeps dry for longer and easier to clean out) but in the winter months I will put a slice of straw loosely over the top as an extra layer and so they can drag as much as they want in to there sleeping boxes. At summer just the wood shavings and if it happens to get cold or wet I have an old carpet which I can roll down to cover the front of there courts.
  16. The tomtom one is spot on simple and well worth the money. my advise for the sake of £50. get the europe map just in case you have it then. Used mine to as a street map in france and spain whene walking around so well worth that extra at the time of purchase.
  17. Good one!!! Goog looking lurcher too.
  18. I have to agree with DS there does seem to be a lot of mention of digging rabbits on here. I have been out with people who get very twitchy after 10 mins of no ferret popping out or a rabbit bolting I think it’s the same illness as the one fishermen who reel in to check that the bait hasn’t come off every minute have. Some people my self included love the hunt AND the wait I love to watch the dog pace the hedge twitching its head following the action anticipating the next bolt same as I enjoy to see a ferret smell and judge its next move before it enters and thus as DT said is ferreting
  19. Where in wales you based beagles?
  20. Well if your bought nets are that bad you have nothing to lose! It’s a great satisfaction to catch a rabbit in your first home made net. When I was first introduced to making purse nets I was shown a simpler way of adding the rings after the net has been made up. But a good video clip none the less better than some I have seen!! Hope you have a go let us know how you get on.
  21. I bought it after using a mate’s lightning and had to have one and though I’m not a huge air gunner I do enjoy this gun. I mostly go out at night and have been thinking of getting one of those luminous scope jobbies any good or just yet another way of shafting no nothings like me out of my cash?
  22. Yes I can’t shoot for shit with out it its embarrassing really if the grass is to long I cant go out to play! It’s a great little thing handy when I’m pigeon shooting in hides and shooting longish distance on a couple golf courses I shoot on for rabbits I love the cartoon.
  23. Hey mad Al what’s that BSA Lightning XL Tactical like I have the BSA Lightning XL (With an AGS 3-9 X 40 mil dot scope on a pod and logun lamp) is there much difference or does it just look sexier? Some nice air sticks around fellows!!

    Fencing

Hello every one. Just had a friend of mine on the phone for an hour asking about erecting stock fence (pig netting) I have done my best to explain but as you know its easier to show some one than it is explain to them. So was wondering if any one knows of any web sites where they have a guide with pics on there to save me having to draw ridicules stick men with double shovels and seven in ones!.( Plus my drawings would just confuse things even more)
