  8. I`ve recently came home from work to find someone had stolen my jill ferrets and all my nets. They did nt take the hobs just the jills, smashed the locks off my shed and had all my nets 100 in total. I ve now repaired the shed and added an alarm, now have the expensive task of replaceing my nets and get hold of a couple of jills. The police were`nt interested when i called them so that is that.

  10. you would never think it was hard to find a ferreting partner but over the past couple of years it has been a nightmare. I have taken a few people out but they dont seem to stick to it for long. I have been ferreting on my own for the last 2 seasons and i have alot of land to cover and would be happy for a new ferreting partner so if anyone is in the bristol area and want to come out let me know. Cheers Kev
  11. B#*@*~D Things are every where at the mo i have been trapping alot around where i live. We have garages at the bottom of our gardens and the kids get around there on a night and leave all their shite there and the rats love it.
  12. I have been ferreting for 20 years and most of that has been on my own. I have gotten into a pattern of doing things and it works well. I use my Jack russel and 410 shotgun too which makes life a little easier. I live in Bristol and would be happy to go out with you if you need a ferreting companion. Cheers Kevin

forget the barn owl mate you dont get much chance to get things wrong with them as they dont weigh much and it is easy to kill them through lack of experience. Get your self a small male harris you will get more out of one. They are easier to train and are a bit harder to get it wrong with although it can be done. Get someone to help you who already has experience with birds. Good luck with what ever you decide but think hard about a barn owl.
  15. I worked for a while on a landfill site doing bird control work and i would not attempt shooting gulls with an air rifle as i have hit them with a shotgun and not dropped them. The pellets seem to just bounce off. They are solid birds and unless you can get close enough to ensure a head shot i would nt bother. If you hit 1 and wound you it you will have to find it then get a beating from it whild you catch it to dispatch. Shooting them off the roof of your house is against the law as the pellet is leaving the bouderies of your property.
  16. Great idea . What are the age ranges of the people in group as this will determine what you can do. Events such as ferret races are always good fun and family dog shows and stuff like that. As for an event you could do hunt the adult and all the participants have to find clues to track down the adult until they find them and capture them. What area are you in?
  17. Nice one mate its always nice to get a couple with new kits. As they get a bit of experience they will start to go deeper into the warren and push rabbits out from deeper down. good luck for your next trip out
  18. Welcome to THL. Im sure you find all the info you are looking for on the site. Kevin
  19. Nice bit of permission mate but go careful they can collapse when you walk over the tunnels and if you have to dig to ferret you might get problems but take it steady and you should be ok.
