  1. only as difficult as you want to make it, take your outfit out stick some targets up and enjoy the winter sunshine I've measured my scope to barrel alignment and it comes in a 2". There are so many factors that can change the ballistic figures, but as paulus says nothing proves anything like a round down range!!
  2. I hit a fledgling Blackbird in the car on Thursday, I stopped to see what it was, it must have hatched around Mid December!
  3. Nice one Chris, its an interesting subject, If I can get out over the weekend I'll do the same and we can compare results, I would imagine different rounds would produce different results so it would indeed be interesting. I'm aware the software I used doesn't appear to alter the Velocity, but I've run the data through different software, and the results have been almost identical albeit the velocity has changed. I think the data above is correct but the velocity figure hasn't been changed if that makes sense.
  4. Online Airgun sales are effectively illegal because the person presenting to purchase needs to prove they are over 18. Having said that you can buy an Airgun online but the gun must be sent to a local RFD who will verify you are over 18 before handing over the gun, also some companies are using a bonded courier who complete the sale on your doorstep once you have proven your age. However you will be charged a premium for this, if they claim its free then the cost is included in the price of the gun. My advice is to go to a local RFD and buy one direct.
  5. I think you may have misunderstood Richies comment You cannot own or keep a shotgun without an SGC. You can shoot at most private clay events, by borrowing a gun though.
  6. My advice would be to go for either a .17hmr or a .22 LR. Both will give you far better sport. You will also find that a .22 will work out a lot cheaper than an FAC air rifle. If you have concerns about you experience then consider joining a rifle club..
  7. If your using IE, then go Tools/Internet Options. you should see it from there depending on the version your using.
  8. A lot depends on the exact nature of the crime and how long ago it was. Theres less chance if it was for violence than if it was for petty theft etc. As long as you can show you are a reformed character and are embarrassed about your past then theres every chance you might get it. Good luck and keep us informed.
  9. I agree but there is still a significant difference between them at 75yds. The issue was that a scope zeroed at 12yds would be "about right" at 75yds, but as this shows it wouldn't be, it would be nearly 3" high. where as if it was zeroed at 75yds it would be a lot closer at 12 and bang on at 18yds. (At least I think I'm reading it correct)
  10. Heres the info plotted on a graph, so you can see the trajectory. at The light Blue line is Zeroed at 12yds the dark Blue at 75yds, I don't know why the velocity is remaining the same.
  11. Have a look. The chart on the left is zeroed at 12yds, yet at 75yds you would be 3.05" high. Where as on the second chart Zeroed at 75yds, you would be roughly bang on at 12yds you can check the figures yourself I used Handloads.com http://www.handloads.com/calc use the following data. Velocity 1050, Bullet weight 40, Ballistic coefficient 120 & sight height 2.
  12. i zero at 12yrds and double check at 75yrds as the zero point is roughly the same this means the round is only ever a max 1 1/2 inch out over that entire distance so up to 75yrds its a case of point and shoot not having to worry about hold over ect. I just ran that through a ballistics calculator for the CCI HP Sub, it would put me 3.05" high at 75yds. if on the other hand I Zeroed at 75yds the maximum I would be high is at 45yds with a figure of 1.33". However at 15yds I would be low by 0.18". So what you said is correct but according to my calculator, only if it was zeroed at 75yds wh
  13. they sure dont sell many ive been buying the odd box for years from the same dealer and as there still the same price £2.99 for 50 i can only assume its still the same stock hes had years They're probably worth more than that as scrap!
  14. As an ex Soldier, I can say 100% than anyone who thinks thats acceptable needs to have a word with themselves! When you lower yourself to the standards of the enemy you no longer have the right to fight them! The first thing any soldier learns is respect for the enemy!
  15. Already been discussed mate, unfortunately its a fraud. It never happened!
  16. Are you getting a grouping or just a scatter?
  17. I love the CCI HP Subs, they are quieter then my air rifle with my parker hale mod.
  18. Well done on getting your Licence! Why did you buy a .410 over a .12 bore? You'll need to be pretty good to hit a fit Phessy this time of year with a .410 due to the tighter choke.
  19. Have a look here http://www.basc.org.uk/en/departments/firearms/recent-changes-to-legislation.cfm Basically to buy Shotgun Cartridges you have to be over 18.
  20. That info is completely out of date. It states that you can buy an Airgun at 17. That changed a few years ago. I'll see if I can find a link to the correct info.
  21. I would love to think its true! Enoch Powell springs to mind!
  22. Forget all that nonsense! get it manned up and trained quickly, then get it out killing asap and hunt it every day. That is the best way to stop a Harris turning into a screamer!
  23. I'm guessing that stung a bit!! The bone you've lost I once smashed mine into 6 pieces with a very large hammer! Lets just say I invented swear words!! Great job of the Opinel by the way!
  24. Theres one on Fleabay! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17hmr-mag-CZ-Rimfire-/160712774452?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item256b3a5334
