  1. I am not arguing with you, but can you please quote the relevant regulations to support this assertion? Working part time selling Air rifles at a country sports shop for the past 4 years, we took in a second hand Logun S16 as a part exchange. it was sold on to a lad who was arrested with the rifle for shooting in a built up area. The gun was tested and was under 12ftlbs but the anti tamper pins/screws had been tampered with, We had to go to court to testify that the gun was intact when we sold it as he tried to blame the shop. He was fined and the gun was destroyed. I can't quote any le
  2. If you already have an FAC then applying for your SGC is just a formality. Silly really it would be so much easier if an FAC allowed the use of Shotguns in the same way as a SGC does without the need for both certificates. If a person is deemed responsible to hold rifles then it should be a given that they are deemed responsible to use shot guns.
  3. they check your pant draws and everywhere  no they will check you cabinet, drink tea and have a chat PMSL...Great minds!! lol we posted that at the same time!
  4. They might have a rummage through your mrs underwear draw for good measure! They'll just want to see the cabinet mate and ensure its fixed properly, whole visit is usually over in 10 mins for SGC.
  5. I know mate but arguing with the FLO during your FAC interview isn't going to achieve a lot is it! Sometimes its best to just accept things and then argue the toss later when things are in your favour!
  6. And then spend the next 2 years eating porridge after being arrested for taking game at night!
  7. You don't need to prove a need for a SGC unlike an FAC.
  8. I would agree with the above I have a Hatsan 3 shot semi in 20 gauge, it took a while to find a good cartridge that would recycle 100% but its a great gun which I use for everything except Woodcock and thats only because they deserve to be shot with a more traditional gun!
  9. Sorry chap, who told you that bull, just what is it about, for example, a .222 at potentially 1000ft lb+++ that they consider unsuitable for fox?! Ask them if they consider a .223 suitable for shooting a fox at 20 yards in the Hay Barn, right next to the Farm House and Stable block! :hmm: Point them in the direction of Page 77 of the Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to the Police and ask them why they know better than the Home Office? This is rubbish, plenty of people in Wales have less than a .223 conditioned for fox! Bull it might be, but I'm not the one making it up! I
  10. South Wales police will not grant .17hmr for fox and insist on a minimum caliber of .223 However I am aware of someone who has .17hmr for fox on their ticket but I think this may have been due to the previous FLO.
  11. The issue here is that some police forces will not grant you a .17 for fox and insist on a minimum of .223. However if you want only one caliber and they allow it for fox the .17 would be your best choice. However you would be better off also applying for a .22 for rabbits because the bullets are a lot cheaper. As far as ranges go ask 100 people get 100 different answers but .22 on rabbits 75yds-100yds .17 75yds -150yds. I'm not going to give you a figure for fox because I can't legally shoot them with my .17
  12. Nice one! well in that case I'll keep it in the wardrobe for the grandkids!
  13. When you look at the blunt end of the bullet it will either have a smooth flat bottom or it will have a center "cap" if it has a center cap its a centerfire if it doesn't, it relies on a firing pin to sort of clip the edge of the case (rim) to fire it (rimfire) .22 and .17 are the calibers. Think airguns.
  14. Why the hell would you have a loaded gun in a class room. All the weapon training i have ever been involved in uses empty cases to simulate live rounds.!
  15. Yes I was looking at this on eBay earlier its also cheaper on ebay. Just want to see what else people recommend.
  16. I can't believe anyone would be so stupid as to look down the barrel after a HF!
  17. I'm looking for a new scope for my .17hmr. preferably 3 - 9 x 50 or similar has to be mil dot and IR budget £100 - £150. I've used many scopes over the years but wondering what you lot recommend. I might go for something with a bit more magnification and not bothered if its new or SH.
  18. Unbelievable!!! he wasn't even wearing ear protection!!!!
  19. The fact you can see the claws simply means it belongs to a dog, Cats have retractable claws so they don't show up in prints. Don't get caught up in the media hype!
  20. I'm not going to pretend I even know what that is, Can I use it with my .223?
  21. Thanks for that. I've had a few silly offers but I'm not prepared to give it away, It'll stay here until I have Grandchildren otherwise!
