  1. the pups are doin great growing daily really starting to get mobile now il get some more pics up as soon as there eyes are open. cheers steve
  2. both for me my gundogs (3 of) live outside as do the terriers(smellie) the lurcher lives inside partly because i work nights and the missus likes him in partly so he dont get nicked and parly because i dont have any more kennel space. the gundogs are girls and he would kill the terriers who also have to live seperately cause they would kill each other (brothers never get on). the lurcher will not go up the stairs or into the kitchen and if he goes in the bathroom he gets a bath so thats the most avoided room in the house.
  3. puppies this is a link to some pics of the wee blobs hope it works the missus had a helluva bother getting them up. I had nae chance of doin it. I live near Dumfries in SW Scotland. parents both hard workin dogs. I have 2 yellow bitches 4 black bitches and a dog of each colour. all very greedy, fat and content.
  4. the little bitch on the right is my current worker the bitch on the left is her mum now aged 12 and semi retired.
  5. will do as soon as i figure out how to use new phone there just wee fat blobs at the moment.
  6. put an obsticle between him and his food at feeding time and when he jumps over to get his dinner give a command such as over dont make it high make it easy at first. thats the best way to get them started then later just climb over a stone wall and encourage the dog to follow you as for gates i never taught my cocker to jump gate as legs can get caught and broken she deos however jump them if she thinks she can gives me heart failure evry time think she just copied the lurcher and the lab to do this. i think they are better trying to get through a gate between the spars. its just the leg b
  7. you really should have started before now, but does it have a toy ie a sqeaky one is best i find (gets there attention) start playing with it with the toy get it carrying the toy about. then start calling the dog over but dont take the toy straight away, praise the dog then ease the toy from its mouth and throw it again repeat the process for a while five mins or so. only use that toy for that type of play that dog will hopefully prize the toy highly as it doesnt get all the time. progress slowly as some lurchers are not natural retreivers and it can take along time to get them going. hope thi

  10. cheers for the advice guys. yeah its the wee box bit that is the main problem as it pops apart, how much did the pouch off strong stuff cost darrell jnr. also how much does the bellman and flint stuff cost. the collar ive got is ok its just the box on the collar thats the problem. cheers turnerboi. thanks again guys steve
  11. does my gundogs 2 cockers a lab and a pointerxlab hunting the cover pushing out for my lurcher who keeps pace on the outside of the cover counct as a pack in really thick stuff i hunt 2 terriers as well thats 7 dogs working together but not hounds, do you consider that a pack.
  12. does anybody have the deben terier finder 3s is there any stronger collars that will work with them mine is chewd to f*ck and has to be taped up to stay together. is there anything i can do its the kinda flat plastic grey locater part have they sent me a ferret one by mistake ive had hobs in the past that would carry it no probs. its only the 16 foot plus version orange top with black bottom bit. cheers. steve
  13. just have a load of auld cushions in the back of the van but ive got a cage i had made for a vitara i had that i can put in if im going out with other peoples dogs as well.
  14. Very nice lookin! this is my lad he was kinda a late starter so this will be his first full season, have picked up a few with him and hes keen to go. hes bout 15 to 18 mnths in the pic.
  15. as the dog gets up to you try running backwards a bit so it has to come to you or stand with your back to a wall so it cant run past you dont over do the retrieving training as the dog may get bored keep it an exciting game. hope this helps if not post again. atb steve
  16. sorry mate but this could be a hard one. the old saying you cant teach an old dog new tricks might apply here. making it all a game is your best bet. if the dog still retrieves balls attach wings from pigeons etc to the ball and use that. dont over do it or the dog will get bored cover the ball with a rabbit skin so the dog experiences different tastes and textures in the mouth and keeps his interest up.
  17. i cant beleive i just read that load of sh*t the bodies such as basc etc should get on that straight away and get a retraction of some sort.that kinda stuff makes my blood boil. these feckers need to get some education on what is legal and what isnt. the worst thing is there will be loads of dumb feckers beleivin that sh*t.
  18. all the above methods will work as i have tried them both with labs and spaniels as well as lurchers, i little tension on the lead deos no harm as it is makin his leg muscles work all the time. you could also try and it something every running dog needs and that is road work. dont take him to the fields every time you go for a walk do some exorcise walks on the lead round some quiet roads if he relises he mite not be goin to the woods and field it may curb his enthusasm a little. i also tried waving the above meantioned stick in front of his nose all the time so if he goes past he gets the gen
  19. they are not all for the same purpose i have 2 terriers, 3 gundogs and a lurcher so this would be another lurcher, all my dogs see work fairly regularly.
  20. usually i just turn up with it did that with the last 2 cockers an she went a bit mental. may try the meal deal.
  21. cant breed pigeons off of crows and those two look the bollocks so all the best with the pups my kinda dogs.
  22. thinkin of getting one of the pups my dog has sired, this may lead to divorce but i want one. Is SEVEN dog too many, oh aye the pup are collie/greyxbull/grey to a kelpie/greyxbull/grey. parents good dogs, [bANNED TEXT] do you guys think should i risk it i have the space.
  23. I believe it was the Terriers hitting into him? the guy was worried it would kill his terriers if left. He's now staying in a foster home with other dogs and apparently is fine. Yeah it does, have you checked his ears mate? Doesn't look like it. What would a Tattoo mean? that it's a pure Grey? Yeah if its one ear its uk bred both ears Ireland bred, not always that easy to read and they fade with time, but now there is a bigger picture, it looks clear. All the best with him if you go down that route, one things for defo, if you don't try you wont know. my mate runs a ma
  24. im not sayin that these would be any use but the rottie was originly a herding breed as well as being able to guard the flock. has anyone seen a n z huntaway they look just like a athletic rottie has anyone seen lurchers with this cross in it there big dogs with alot of power a mate of mine has one to shift big flocks of sheep. its clever and has alot of prey drive.
  25. dont know, have only been out hunting with him once and that was with the lurcher, will find out soon as winter kicks in! my old bitch used to retreive everything live to hand except rats this is the only thing that bit back she would take. in her later years she stopped retreivin hares but this was after we moved to the mountains and she did alot of blues and they could be long retreives with them kickin the hell out of her so she started to give them a shake but still brought them home when they were dead. roe deer got the rat treatment but she would try an drag them in the right direc
