hi guys, i find this interesting. i have a permission which i have held for many years. it was a great year round crow (and rabbit) perm. the crows were thick through the summer but still around in good numbers through the winter.......... until a few years ago 2009 ish when we had the first of the bad winters. that year the crows cleared out to the nearest towns. they were everywhere in the small towns and all the people were complaining about them. the next couple winters were also bad and the crows did the same. this winter and last were no where near as bad but still no crows aro

i have an issue with the black ones on my big permission. theres quite a few of them and they are "not for killing" they "look nice" and his "wife likes them". they know they are off limits. when ever we are out night or day long after the rest have scarpered the blacks are still mooching around muching grass. you can get to 15 to 20 meter away in the landy every time. a few have been caught in snares over the years............. honest it was snares....... couldnt be helped. theres quite a few of them at times. pure white one knocking about this year, p

hi all, i tried the knot option but one slipped pased the knot so stopped that. now i just untwist the wire at the required place and seperate the wire into two lots of three then fit in another eyelet and retwist the snare. did 25 in about 45 min. eyelets were real cheap and fairly quick. no failures yet but on done a few trials. regards Peter

16 grain FX or 16 grain logun penetrators for my R10 in .22 are my fav's but to be honest there is only 2 pellets that i have tried that it dont like eley wasp's were like shot gun pattern and it milbro's were terible. cheers P -
i am with this one. keeps everything above the law. cage trap it and if its ferral then we know what to do if its a "wild cat" it can be released if its a "pet"...........

and would use try calling or would a couple of decoys be good enough to get them in? thanks for all the advice lads much appreciated as above! a good hide is important and a keep still and out of sight until the last second or they will see you..... a call can also be very helpfull if you can work one. they take a bit of practice to master. as for decoys we normaly start with 8 to 12 in a random pattern but a couple or few will do if you dont have that many. and again as above a "sentry" is also great and the higher the better. up a sitty tree if possible or a fence/dyke if not. we d

hi we decoy corvids regularly. the jackdaws will come to crow deeks readily. use the crow deeks as many as you can, random pattern, stay VERY well hidden and still, in the hide until the last moment then.......... "suprise" "Bang" lights out. add the birds to the pattern as you go a call can also be usefull but can take a bit of practice to master. can be very effective when done right. regards Peter

yeh blow from lower down and i try make more of a caaww through it rather than just a blow! does take a bit of practice but once sussed out its worth the effort! keep trying! regards P

hi there i had a similar problem to this. what i did was take a handfull of clays with me to the blind, after the first bird came in my mate threw a couple of clays out for me to hit. did this for the first few birds to get few more shots of and get "the eye in" so to speak found it helped. regards Peeps
