  3. Thanks for the replies lads. Anyone else on here doing a bit of fishing? It would be nice to see pics if any of you have any. Moocher
  4. It would be nice to see a few pictures in the fishing forum, so I thought I would start the ball rolling. The only thing all these captures have in common is, I caught them all using a big worm as bait. No freebies, no groundbait, just creeping around pools and gravel pits stalking, or trundling a bunch of worms down the river. The bait Caught these two last November Incidently, had a nice Tench last week on worm, pics still on camera though. This is a great time of year for a big Tench if you fancy one. This one fell to a worm a couple of weeks ago,
  5. Take the camera mate, lets see some sea monster pictures on your return
  6. Right! Ian asked me if I fancied being a mod on this forum, and I have gone for it. So, how many of you that use this site are partial to a bit of angling? I really am interested. I am pretty well versed in most matters concerning coarse angling but as is always the case with fieldsports I am learning new things all the time. I confess now to knowing pretty much sweet FA about Sea Fishing of Fluff Chucking in its various forms. Must admit, I fancy a bit of a go at fluff chucking. So back to my initial question, Who are the anglers amongst us? What type of angling do you do?
  7. Mr Darcy, nice to hear from you. I am still keeping my hand in here and there. Had to smile the other week when talking to some dog lads at the Lichfield Bower. They were talking about books, and don't blush, they were raving about all yours. In fact, the biggest roughest geezer amongst them made some comment to the effect of "That Dig deep mate, it's proper wanking material!" Now there my friend is a compliment It been a long time since I used an SLR but it's all coming back to me. Seeing the quality of your pictures I will heed your advise mate. All the best Mo
  8. I used to be heavily into the carp fishing but far to many idiots in the game mate that spoil it for the genuine lads. The Carp monthlies are desperate for new material, I understand sales figures are way down on most mags. Mind you, there are about 30 different Carp mags out each month, its a joke! I have had several article in Coarse Angling Today, but have not put anything in recently. Midland Angler is the other mag I have been writing for. I did a six part series which is still running at the moment. I do write articles on carp fishing, but more from an all rounder/ specialis
  9. Hi Lads, The camera is a Canon EOS350D. Just looking for a good deal on a 75-300mm zoom at the moment. Some b*****d outbid me by 20p on Ebay last week on a real bargain. Thats the problem with nipping out and not being sat in front of the screen in the dying minute The river in the pic is the Anker mate. I have been catching decent carp out of it for about 15 years. Loads of doubles and the occasional 20+. It's a good bit of sport. The digital SLR was something I have really fancied for a while now. I have been having a few angling articles published in a couple of the angling mo
  10. Went out for a couple of hours for a stroll and took the camera. I hoped to get some pictures of the carp that frequent a bay I know on the river, however, when I got there it was full........but not with carp Then the only cow not in the water decided to gallop around me in circles for about 5 mins Decided to just have a mooch about, found some nice runs along the sheep netting that may warrant a look at with a bit of brass wire  Where did that come from? The old fallen Mink tree smelt pretty musky.......may have to gut the shed, im s
  11. Not sure if this helps anyone to make their mind up. I had a dozen Fenn type traps a few years ago. Used them for mink on some of the fisheries I use that had a bad Mink problem. I brought the traps job lot from an auction. Only 5 of the traps had Fenn stamped on the trigger plate. Basically that was the only difference between them. They were all upto the job and I had no problems with any of them. At the end of the day the mink showed no preference for the "stamped" traps Stamped or not they killed the little b*****ds. In all honesty there was no difference in build quality that I
  12. Your local McDonalds Drive through! I kid you not Its been I LONG time since I used to take rats on the drive through car park, but they are usually rife with them mate. Once the boy racers have fu##ed off I only got approached once and I did it quite regular as the place was closing (about midnight) Some ponced up McDonalds guy came over and asked what I was up to. I said "killing rats!" He said "We dont have rats," I replied "Im just sitting here with my dog then." Lets face it, they dont want it made public their establishments are akin to Hamelin town. The bait stations roun
  13. Had the same problem with my board mate! The best solution if you can convince folk is to get them to download Internet explorer which is free on the windows site and use this as their browser when using your site. This will sort out their problems The AOL browser causes uses untold problems on forums and various other sites. regards Moocher
  14. Like the look of the forum lads, it seems to cater for the full fieldsport community. It was only a matter of time before someone took on the mantle to become better and more successful than ........... site. I think this site has the potential to do just that. I have had very limited time over the last couple of years to keep on top of the ........... site. It has had to be self sufficient in its existance and rely on the good will of the moderators. Maybe this will be the new home for all UK hunters to gather. If so, I can gradually fade ........... out. I have only kept it runni
