most important thing is your veg plot in a sunny position ?if it aint then you could struggle ,and if your garden is hard to dig why not grow things in tubs .in tubs you can grow ,dwarf french beans ,carrots ,spuds ,raddish ,letteuce, spring onions ,cucumbers, courgets ,tomatoes ect,you could also grow hanging basket tomatoes these are cherry ones and you get loads off one plant ,the easyest things to grow in the garden are are raddish, spuds ,beetroot,.i try and avoid brasicas (cabbage ,brocali, sprouts)as nearly every garden pest trys to eat them ....hope this helps ..jim

next time you take your dog around sheep stick a muzzle on him first .at least if he sets about sheep theres less chance of him killing one .

Hi all im having a bit of trouble!!!
jimster68 replied to ryangolding's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
covering your hand in vinagar it has the same effect as aftershave ,if they bite you they soon learn hands dont taste nice, seen a guy tame a ferret in a few days doing this ,no harm in trying a few more days if youve had the ferret months . -
arron ,not sure if this is the answer your looking for but here goes ,if your gog weighs about 50lb depending on what you feeding i would start by giving the dog about 1 1/2 lb of meat a day , every morning 3/4 lb chicken mince every evening 3/4 lb other meat ,lamb, beef ,tripe ,what ever you can get from you supplier ,2 times per week add a bit of oily fish i feed pilchards in tomato sause, one day per week give an egg raw with shell on ,2 days per week add offal meat ,kidney or liver (cut up a piece about 2inches square and add to mince ).if you like you can add a bit of veg or left over food

im not a racist ,but things like this make my piss boil,i could have a real rant ,and on this day of all days ,these people have no respect ,if they hate britain ,our troops ,and our laws ,why are the here ?brittain dont need them why do the goverment let things like this happen ?im afraid the more i see things like this the more i want something to be done about even if it means supporting groups like the EDL or the BNP ,the goverment should man up and not tolerate such people .they really know how to take the piss ...

thanks for your reply CASSO ,hopefully your right the only time his retrieve goes to pot is when its something he really values (when its alive and kicking )but i dont want this to become a habbit ,for the time being im going to try getting him to retrieve lots of different things ,maybe because its something different he values it more ?im also going to try and get hold of a couple of dead rabbits and get him retrieving them again .if anybody else has any good ideas they would be very welcome .if this fails can anybody recomend a good dogman who could point me in the right direction ......che

i have a pup 8 1/2 months old ,from being very young he has been tought to retrieve and he took to it like a duck to water at one stage if he picked something up he would bring it straight me no matter what it was .he moved on quickly and by 5 1/2 months old he would retrieve a dead rabbit no problem .anyhow at about 7 months old he was taken on a rabbiting trip more of a schooling trip than anything else (not because i wanted him to catch rabbits ).so he quickly learnt to jump long nets took great intrest in rabbits jumping from hole to hole and didnt bother ferrets ,he then managed to catch

sorry meant to say i am based in leeds, but willing to travel within reason. at the urban farm in question you are not allowed to walk among the sheep.
-
I posted a while ago that i was having trouble getting permission so i could stock break my pup. any how over the last few months ive been making regular trips to an urban farm where i can feed the sheep by hand and take the pup with me. but i am still unable to let my pup off around the sheep. at the moment he takes little interest in the sheep when i am feeding them and i am sure he wouldnt harm any if he was let off. so is there anybody out there who could help me out, i need to be able to let the dog off around stock but i cant get permission to take him on anybodys land. he is still very

i took my dog to the vets to have stiches in a neck wound ,she checked my dog over and commented on its lovely condition and brilliant white teeth ,she said the dog was a credit to me .she then asked [bANNED TEXT] im feeding as her ex racing greyhound has never looked like my lurcher ,i replyed barf ,she said that she couldnt recomend feeding barf as its not a very good diet .my reply was dogs have been eating it for thousands of years and could she tell me where i was going wrong . theres an element of risk no matter what you feed ,my dogs have never looked better since i started feeding ba

same happened to me a couple of weeks ago ,i got invited out at short notice so i took my pup along (we were long netting )so pup settled very quickly ,looked really interested in rabbits bolting from hole to hole ,jumped nets ok and didnt bother ferrets ,at home he retrievs for fun ,but on this occasion he cought a small bolter ,well i nelt down and called him but he were having none of it (he was prancing around like a young lad who had shot his first load )i dont think it helped that it was squeeling its head off ,he was throwing it in the air ,rolling on it ,letting it go and grabbing it a

could be a number of things ,have you checked pads for thorns glass ect,has your pup got soft pads like tissue paper and running on concrete /tarmac ect,if its limping when running after your other dog then probably best keep on lead for a couple of weeks ,whatever it is it dont sound too serious ,rest is best option .do you know any other good dog lads who you could get a second opinion from ?
