Spot on mate, we had a Sunday dinner with our own potatoes at the weekend followed by strawberries and cream for afters....tastes better when you grow it yourself I agree mate.. We've had a couple of roasts with the spuds and the onions and garlick have been out in some nice curries... The kids love it though, for what we get out of our small bit it's a lot of effort, but that's not the point, is it.... well done newkid ,its not all about the amount youve grown ,its just nice to put something on a plate you have grown yourself, its a great way to get kids to eat veg especially if they

i use mainly 3 jills and a small to medium sized hob,ive found they seem to cover the warrens faster than useing large hobs ,ive also found i seem to dig far less. the last couple of large hobs i used, definatly killed in more and were more lightly to be dug out , the last large hob i kept i only used when their was a stubborn rabbit that couldnt be budged, needless to say 9 times out of ten i had to dig him out ,it got to the stage that thier were some warrens i wouldnt dare use him on as some places i ferret are very hard to dig .

i have 2x50yd quickset longnets , 1 is a MASTER HUNTER LONG NET , the other is a cheaper net . the master hunter net and bag are about half the weight of the cheaper set up , the net (6oz) catches and holds rabbits very well ,both the bag and poles are top quality and the bag is none snag or rip its great to use and a top quality net . the cheaper net (that i bought second hand cost around £100 new )the whole set up is far heavier than the master hunter set up ,the frame that holds the net is a little more climbsy to use and the bag catches on bushes/ brambles ect , the net still catches f

to be honest bud ,my veg patch isnt the biggest ,but it takes a lot of looking after (keeping weeds down ,watering ect) ,and at the moment moment it gives me a lot of pleasure( as a hobby) ,i could in theory extend to 4x the size ,but then that brings other problems ,freezer aint going to be big enough for a start ,then just the work load alone would be so time consuming ,also because of the climate being so unpredictable and having such a short growing season you would be under pressure from the start , i would love to give it a real go ( i would need more land) but its just never going to ha

i cant say ive grown enough to feed ourselfs 3 or 4 times per week ,but over the last few years ive started to grow more stuff in the garden ,last growing season i grew enough spuds ,onions/leeks,kale ,to feed us for about 1 or 2 times per week for 6 months ,i also filled the freezer with runner and french beans ,that kept us going for about 1 or 2 meals per week over a 4 or 5 month period ,we also make jam and pickle onions and beetroot , the wife is a wizz at cooking rabbit mainly stews and pies ,and the whole family eats them. ive swapped rabbits for free range eggs, plants and a parrafin

i think its only right that responsible breeders charge a fee (no more than a tenner)to people they dont know ,ive bred a litter of kits this year ,a few will be going to friends for nothing ,a few i will keep myself for the coming season . the only reason i would charge strangers ,is a friend of mine advertised some kits for free and the people who came and got them ,SOLD THEM FOR A TENNER EACH . its the first litter i have bred for years both parents have worked weekly over the winter months, if strangers dont want to pay up to a tenner each then they dont really want them that much ,i wou

pretty much as the title says , over the years iv tried to grow (with some sucess ) cabbage/ sprouts/ ect , but what do others use to keep aphids/catterpillars a bay ?ive tried soapy water ,various organic sprays ,i was also advised to chop the end (the green leaf bit)of rhubarb and let it rot down in a filled water butt and water greens with this ,and it worked pretty well . has any body any suggestions ? or can recomend any product ? im toying with growing some greyhound summer cabbage ,but i want to be prepaired . many thanks.........jim
