  1. You will do fine, it just takes practice, I think you have made a great start.
  2. I think they look a little over saturated. I see you use Element 8 Sharpshooter. That can help you a lot with your post processing. When you get used to how the camera works and read the light conditions better in relation to the cameras settings you will be delighted with your results. I had a little play with a couple of your shots, hope you dont mind.
  3. I agree £650 is WAY too much for a pup, but again, its much less than all of the designer crossbreeds, and the Saluki's etc.. In fact Borders are probably one of the cheapest pedigree breeds around if you consider all the others. Hope the pup does well for your mate, if you know the dogs reg name, Ill keep my eye open and say hello. No you havent offended me, I respect your opinion, I just didnt want another KC argument thread. My dogs mean a lot to me, I can take them shooting, ratting, Squirreling, bushing, tracking, showing, and in all those pursuits they do everything required of
  4. No probs Clash, here you go: http://www.emblehope.co.uk/border-terriers/hand-stripping-and-grooming/
  5. Thats so true, Id not want the Patts registered, never!! I spend forever telling people they are working Terriers with exceptionally strong prey drive, still, some dont listen and end up with problems. Same with Borders, so many in Border Welfare come in because they chase, catch and kill furries! I knew somebody would have to have a go.
  6. Whats silly about £500 for a well bred, well reared, microchipped, registered pedigree puppy? Whats FAR more "silly" is Saluki's at £1000 (not registered) and Doodle this and "Jug" that at £800!! Oh and a few chocolate Patts at £600! For the record I have turned down many thousands of pounds for my dogs, I have "orders" for 5 puppies and Ive never bred a litter! I have people that want my males semen in Canada, the USA and Australia as well as bitches travelling from the continent, guess what? I had him a Suprelorin implant so that HE would be happier and settled when my pup came

  8. nice borders Dawn B Thank you. Cheers, I do like a decent head on a Border. Thanks, appreciated. Thank you Macker. Not these two, but my older bitch has been dug to, and my first three males were, including the 11yr old I currently have also. The blue pup is by Lisa Jenkins Dog, Percy, he is a son of Bonsai, both work.
  9. There are some poor coats, and heads certainly, decent heads are few and far between. Thanks for your comments.
  10. Thanks Busterdog. My male could be considered top size, but is easily spannable, the bitch is more "racy" and easily spannable too. They both have good coats, the male is in full coat as you can see, the pic of the bitch was taken some weeks ago, she has a very good coat too, but is easily tidied and hasnt been fully stripped out yet. She is my fist blue and tan, I must say the coat seems easier to maintain.
  11. She has never been fully stripped out, you tend to be able to get away with it with a blue, and roll the coat. The male is in full coat, stripped out about 13 weeks ago. Thank you all for your comments.
  12. Cheers, they do everything I ask of them Jordb, Im happy with that.
  13. Thanks Wxm, appreciated. I havent found it difficult getting them to retrieve no, its my bitch in the thread you posted about, she is the best though. I use toys as puppies and develop it from there. Its just these two would retrieve ok until one went ratting and got the "kill" fever, and the Other (male) was fine until he came across a live Bird, as soon as it flapped he went into kill mode, and although he will still retrieve, its always mushed! These two are better "terriers" than allrounders.
  14. Please, I have only posted this so people can look at my dogs if they wish to, I dont want to start any arguments on KC or showing etc.. 3yrs old male, pictures taken today. This dog tracks for miles, has found injured Deer after a mile and half track. I also use him for Ratting and Squirrel retrieval. (cant use dogs to kill them now ) He also does bushing with my friends Whippets. This is my pup, she is coming 10mths. I do show her, she is doing very well. She has been ratting a couple times and acquitted herself well, she will retrieve feather but not fur since we ha
  15. She could only just see where she was going, but got it to us in the end. As you can see, she also retrieves Crows, I know many Gundogs that wont, dont know why?
  16. She is fine with anything that is dead, fur or feather, but crushes if its alive. Dead game is perfect when she brings it to you. My male was ok with dead stuff, till a Woodie, flapped as he got to it, he minced it and I cannot use him any more, he minces EVERYTHING dead or alive. Dont mind though if we are out after Squirrels, I still use him. He has a super nose, will tack for miles, the bitch will find and mark.
  17. Yes, I use my Borders for this. My bitch will point and mark too.
  18. Go see him work again, he may surprise you.
  19. what about Bonsal have you seen him work ? Think he is pretty much retired now.
  20. My Borders regularly work Rats and I have 6 Cats. They are absolutley fine with MY Cats, but anyone elses are fair game. Just be patient and firm, the Cats should be fine, and I personally see no reason why the dog shouldnt distinguish whats "his" and not. Same dog.
