Thanks all for the comments. I love these birds they are so skilled, fast and just stunning to watch and getting photos of them is a bonus. They were even catching flies and butterflies. I have one shot of a merlin I took last year but it was a grab shot. I now know of a patch where I have seen them regularly so hope to get a few, but they are very quick and unpredictable so it is just a waiting game. There is a peregrine nest in Woking town centre which is just up the road for me. It would mean taking photos from a car park but that's ok with me apart for having to pay for it. H

Sounds good but not for breakfast.

I was tipped off last week that the Hobby's had returned, so armed with camera and lunch I took a slightly longer break yesterday for a fantastic show of up to 4 birds hunting. Not a lot of dragons about yet so they were having to work hard. Some of you know I was well into taking photos of Barn Owls which suited me as they were in a meadow 2 mins away. They seem to have moved on to a spot I do not have access too so I took a trip to Kent where there were some sightings, but I have now come across Marsh Harriers. I would be OK but a 140 mile round trip each time? Toad in the hole for tea by Martin Billard, on Flickr Marsh Harrier incoming by Martin Billard, on Flickr A shorty popped in. I know someone who does it but not sure of the kit he uses but I do know some of his photos are excellent. There are a few digiscoping groups on flickr if you fancied searching through them to get a idea of best camera for the job.
