This is all part of "The Great Game", as Rudyard Kipling termed it. It has been going on for over 200 years between Russia and the west, and is all about who controls Central Asia. We fought the Russians over the Crimea 200 years ago, we invaded Afghanistan in the 1800's to put a buffer between the British Empire and Russia. The Russians invaded it in the 1900's , and we, (and the Americans), invaded it again in the 2000's ! The West is now trying to do it by stealth, the EU trying to get the Ukraine into the Western Sphere. Russia was never going to allow that, with it's military assetts in C

Stick in there mate , we'll have that chat about the next book when you recover. All the best and get well soon.

The title is supposed to say "Pardew", bloody iPhone !! I don't think he'll get fired, but the FA will hammer him, and rightly so.
-
I've seen players nut each other, even though there has been little or no contact, and the other player goe's to ground like he's been shot ; but for a MANAGER to nut a player ....... Well, I've never seen that before!! The FA will throw the book at the mug !!

With tools, I try to buy the very best I can afford. Buying cheap stuff, just 'cause you don't use them very often, is false economy. They fall to bits or slip and you end up with skinned and bruised knuckles, and you then have to buy something better if you want to get the job done. You wouldn't buy a shit lamp and battery just 'cause you only lamp once a week, would you ?

Harman, Dromney and Hewitt were part of the 60's and 70's looney left; extreme left wingers who thought EVERYONE had the same rights, this included gays, peado's, murderers, terrorists, etc. There convictions have not changed, they just don't shout about anymore. The Milliband brothers were brought up and indoctrinated in a Marxist household by a millionaire Marxist father who they adored and took everything he said as gospel. These are the people running the Labour party. They wan't a Marxist/Socialist European State, and the EU fits the bill perfectly for them. This is why they are for unlim

Hmmm I think it depends on the circumstances. One set out to murder, the other accidentally murdered someone. We've all punched someone, luck of the draw. I ain't defending him, just questioning your logic. Judges in this country are the problem. It's a f*****g joke. I'd have given him 12 years for what he did. He sucker punched a man in an incident that had nothing to do with him, and then casually walked away and left the man to die in the road. You say " we have all punched someone", maybe, but what he did was indefensible, and even 12 years, he'd be out in 6. My logic is it would make

Two b*****ds take the life of an innocent man and get life and 45 years; this b*****d takes the life of an innocent man and gets 4 years, out in 2 !! Where's the concistency or the justice ? Different circumstances, maybe, but callously taking the life of an innocent person should have at least a minimum tariff of 45 years !
-
We've just fought off a ruling by the ECHR that we can't give whole life tariffs, but when Labour get in next time. As they will because all the idiots will vote for them, they will roll over and do anything the ECHR says and these two fuckers will be walking the streets in a few years time with new identities !!
-
But why only 45 years ? The b*****d will still only be in his 60's when he gets out, even if he does the 45, which he probably will only do half! They are supposed to be British citizens, so they are traitors by their own admission, c**ts should have hanged !!!

Can you imagine if Russia started making overtures to Alaska or Canada about joining the Russian Federation ? America would be at DefCon3 already and the world would be looking at the nuclear clock as it headed towards 12 ! Still, it ' nice to have a sensible debate on here once in a while !

I know what you're saying I just think it's hard to justify even in Russian brains........ If the Ukrainians decide democratically to ally themselves with the EU how is that a direct threat to the Russian Fed'? The EU is no enemy of Russia. They'll have a hard job justifying an invasion on those grounds...... I'd personally say the E U is the enemy of democracy everywhere ! They want a "Greater Europe" to rival the US and want to do away with Independent Sovereign States in Europe; so I'm not suprissed the Russians are pissed off.

I meant to say "fracking" not cracking.. Bloody iPhone.

Are we talking a Russian invasion? To what end? A Russian state of Ukrain? To secure military/naval bases at a time of civil unrest? How they react and the consiquences of those actions will have massive implications on how foreign states react. I'm saying IMO there's more chance of snow in hell than Russia invading Ukrain and taking control........ it'd cause WWIII. Would the West just stand by a watch in a dissgruntled maner? I guess we're about to find out.......[/quot America has shifted its geopolitical stance since it has become self sufficient in energy away from the Middle East and

Where do you get your facts from then Rich? Talk about facts all you want, but Russia might well roll over them but it would be at great cost and they'd get more than a bloody nose in the process.. You think those thousands of people out in the streets there at the minute would just stand idly by if Russia went in? Rich ????
-
No way ? Even the most clued up people who study world politics aren't saying "no way" ! As I said, the Russians are VERY unpredictable. I wouldn't hazard a guess what they will do.
-
Malt, the Ukraine is a basket case economically; the Russians have been carrying them for years. They have never upgraded their military as the rest of the major powers have. The russians would roll over them. There is no government or civil service left, the military command is split between pro and anti Russian . Don't take everything you google as fact .
-
"Nothing is going to happen", what, just like Georgia, Chechnya and Daghistan ? The Russians are unpredictable, always have been. If they think it's a threat, they will act.
-
Malt, they inherited an obsolete diesel sub and a few aging frigates. The deal was Russia would keep Sebastabol in the Crimea as a major naval base and guarantee Ukraines safety. Now they want to be part of the EU, all bets will be off.
-
He simply can not allow the Ukraine to fall under western control! The Russian Black Sea Fleet is based in the Crimea and he couldn't allow it to be surrounded by what the Russians consider "the enemy". We should keep out of it, as the Americans will, and let's see what the EU can do without us !!
-
Why even mention the Waterloo Cup in connection with this slaughter ? Killing a hare was never the object in Greyhound coursing; it was the matching of two hounds, in fact the "kill" scored the lowest points. Hare Coursing and Hare Shooting are two completely different things, with two completely different outcomes.
-
This could be world changing; Russia will not let the Ukraine become "European"; they still think the Ukraine is part of Russia, and won't think twice about invading. America and Britain won't fight for a country that will cost us more than it's worth, but the EU will try to bring the Ukraine under it's control and drag us and America into what could be WW3. We should keep the f**k out of it !
