  4. You should try getting out with a good English pack like the Westerby Bassets There not in decline. Unfortunatley they are up here, the only ones you see are the ones whose owners dont excercise them enough and they dont have half as much muscle as the others pictured below are. Now those are working dogs. Id love to see them in action, good to see them do what they are bred to.
  5. Bonnie looking bunch. Cant blame you for not being able to stay away. unfortunately my lot have not long gone to new homes. Only 3 little guys left but i still remember when they were just 'pink wriggleys' as they were known as. Good healthy looking bunch. Atb Leanne

  7. My mum and dad still dont know that jordan goes hunting. They have a go at the dog everytime he takes off after rabbits too.... I just tell him he's a bad boy. Not like he listens anyway only rabbits and deer on this dogs mind. Think I'll wait till its only the odd weekend, holidays and christmas visits till i tell them
  8. The Basset Hound is a short-legged breed of dog of the hound family. They are scent hounds, bred to hunt rabbits by scent. Their sense of smell for tracking is second only to that of the Bloodhound. The Basset Hound was bred to hunt. Its keen nose and short stature are suited to small-game hunting on foot. Training is a touchy topic when dealing with the Basset Hound breed. Trainers must be persistent with this breed in order to achieve a well mannered dog, as Bassets have a tendency to listen to their noses instead of verbal commands. - those are snippets I copied from a site but from p

  15. Is your bitch the old style boxer or new style with the short snout and short legs? Not the best of mixes its got be said but by the looks of the post your not trying to make it out to be brilliant. Might make a good pet or just a project if you've time but if its old style it wouldn't be so bad but new style.... with legs and faces like them best just find the pups family homes. Atb Leanne

  17. Think id have one just to see how it would do. Might not be good for rabbits but I bet no one is gonna steal anything with that dog on the property. Atb Leanne
  18. Iv got a 5 year old labrador that I part own and his father is a top working dog up in the field this way and his mother is a show dog. Chewy enjoys sniffing out rabbits and retrieving but he is not a very confident dog, he is very unsure of situations (due to a rough past) just wondering if anyone had any tips to get him back on track? Just tips because iv never trained a dog to sniff out rabbits or retrive properly. This is more so for training me than him. Also Iv got a GSDxHusky that is animal movement mad. I literally got dragged half way through a field after a big deer. Never

  20. Hi all. Im new here. Im JordKil's girlfriend and wanting to learn all I can about this sport. Im from the North East of Scotland and Iv got two dogs, one useless bugger who thinks he is a rabbit/fox/deer and anything that runs dog and a labrador that can sniff a rabbit warren out a mile away. Got ten working ferrets that Im hoping to be able to take out properly for their next saeson and not just be an observer. Im eager to learn so I'll probably just have a looky so i can get up to date and not sound like a complete idiot. Thanks for looking folks. http://s475.photobucket.com/alb
