June 2013 THL Airgun Section Shooting Meet
hutch6 replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Sling my name down. I'll pop down for a day so no breaky needed. I am not the best shot in the world but I think I can hit Nottingham with a car OK and maybe learn a few tips from the Jedi masters. -
Loose leash walking for me changes the concept of the walk and what we would generally measure it by, some folk's opinions may vary . We tend to think of a walk in the context of how far it was or how undulating the terrain etc but when you have a dog that pulls or one that just makes it a pain in the backside then the walk becomes a tedious battle which is marched around in order to deliver the distance required to meet a dog's needs. Mileage is how walks are measured, mileage over time. What you need to do when training loose leash walking is swap that equation around - time over mileage

Essentially all you are trying to do is control the chase - "Don't chase that, come here" or "Wait there until I get to you" - which one works for you. If you do fetch training with the dog then you can incorporate this with the training and you can train it on the lead. If you go to throw something and the dog blasts off before you've even started your forward throwing motion then there are a few things you can do. You can let the dog run away and wonder where the chuff the object has gone, then call the dog and once it looks at you then throw the object. This allows you to slo

I don't know the individual you have experience of but I agree wholeheartedly that only a fool ignores the instincts and genetics held inside a dog. A puppy class made up of all pups of about the 8-14week mark isn't too bad for just using food to get a few tricks almost there as they are good for socialising a young dog that has just left it's littermates and parent/s so a good knock about with dogs helps it learn a few manners and get the dust ou tof the system. It is the trainers that hold the ppuppy class and then a mixture of young and old dogs of all breeds using the exact same method

But that is the difference, APDT deal with Pet dogs (hence the Pet Dog bit in the Assocaition of Pet Dog Trainers title) where as you're referring to a working dog. I doubt if you had issues with your spaniel's send away or a collies lift or outrun they'd be the folks to go to but if you want a steady family pet (% of dog owners) first an agility, show or leisure partner second then yes. Many of the APDT trainers do work with working dogs by the way. There is nothing wrong at all with using treats to teach recall as the dog won't or will but only reluctantly return to you if it is associat

HI mate, I never had a dog as a kid (dad hates them) but spent every summe rholiday on a farm and would often wreck the farmer's working dog by playing fetch and taking it on adventures when it should have been working. When I was in a position to get one I did and got my collie. It was a moment of enlightenment for me and since the day I got him home I wonder what goes through his head. I did a canine psychology course through Open College. I passed with 99% and was told it was the highest mark they had ever received for any of their courses yet I only really had experience of one dog.

You lost £5K per year just on depreciation on a top spec model? Salesman saw you coming and you must crap fivers whilst wiping with twenties

Here's a little something that I've found with my dog and applied to how dog’s think and how she’s wired. She's a saluki cross (could be pure, I have no idea) and she is ruled by the two windows on the front of her cranium. Using sight and ears at the same time doesn't come naturally to her unless she is listening for something in the undergrowth. It got to the point where if I wasn't in sight i.e. behind her, then I didn't exist to some extent. When we go out she goes through various stages in attention and once I understood them I found it easier to recognise the first few stages and I c

Can I ask why you are choosing Cobbydog? If you look at their site at the dog food and then look at the rabbit food there isn't much difference which says a lot abotu the quality of it. My mates fed their dogs it and their dog's teeth are horrendous and need scaling at vets every 6months along with tooth extractions.

Red Bull Stratos jump was a scam !! Proof !

Because a nice dangle below a balloon as it gently glides upwards at about 30ft/sec is a very similar scenario as a space craft blazing up as it hits the atmosphere at over 1000 miles an hour with red hot metal things peeling off it and racing passed your head when you manage to get out, meanwhile there you are stumbling to the exit through blind panic and then there are the G forces that may restrict your ability to wind the window down if the door handle doesn't work. I can see the logic in the test they did for sure If you do manage to make it out in one piece then you are free falling -
If the rest fo their pet foods range is anythign to go by then the bag it comes in has more nutritional value. It lists the ingredients in descending order but gives no value or percentages of the ingredients. In their pet foods section they list that their adult dog food contains just 23% chicken. the next largest percentage is rice at 20% which is totally useless for dogs as their intestinal tract isn't long enough to do anything with it to gain any value and the rest is just a mixture of bits. So their top two ingredients on equates to 43% of the food. What actual value do the rest hold

What games do you play with your dog when out and about to be engaging to the dog? Does the dog have a favourite toy?

If you already have a permission or three then ask the land owners for a reference and then at least you have people's written word on your behaviour and how you deal with things. I got a glowing one from my first permission as I help out with reporting stuff, clearing stuff up that have blown into hedgerows etc and just general updates on the situation. Once the farmers or land owners have their say then ask if they would be open to a short trial and only in areas they select. That way they aren't committing to anything long term, it gives you a chance to prove yourself and you aren't ask

Your solicitor can request a traffic report from Orange. An itemised bill will only show outgoing traffic but Orange should be able to provide your solicitor with a full record of what traffic was going to and from your phone and to what cell mast. Even if your phone is idle and not in a comms session it still sends requests to the network for registration, updates and of course to receive signal. It is all traceable through the network and what is even better si that the police have the same access as well so if they do their jobs and get that information you may find it won't even get to cou

Sorry to hear about your experience and good on your for taking it to court. If I were you I would contact your mobile operator and ask them for an itemised bill to show the dates so that you have a clear record of what calls and texts were sent and at what time. I would then ask to get a record of the IMEI registration records. This shows you what mast the IMEI of your handset was registered to at various intervals. If your phone was registered to the mast near your house and you were outside of that masts broadcasts area (usually about 1Km) then it proves without doubt that you could no

Just had my house broken into and my rifle and DSLR camera taken. Keep your eyes peeled for a BSA R10 MK2 serial no. R776554 It had a hawke sport HD-AR 4-12x50 AO-IR scope and a tracer ledray tactical 400 light. Bugger!! Much appreciated.

You having any pups out of the big hound on the right? Looks like they'd be good over the rough stuff

Well done. You are very aware of your limits and know what path it leads down. Excellent control and keep it up.

A very close family member is on the stuff from about 10:30 until about 10pm every day and it's not exactly soft stuff either. They'll easily do a 1.5ltr of vodka a day and I can't talk to them gone 1pm as they become a gibbering gobhead. Worked for probation service for a while and saw the effects it had too. I've dine the whole smashed every night of the week as an early twentysomething but I only drunk to get drunk, never did like the taste. I have very rare one here and there but I could easily never have it again and it wouldn't bother me one ounce.

So they should all be arrested and dealt with accordingly. I guess the main issue here is the media puts country sports in a bad light because it sells articles and if a reporter was to ever write the truth I presume they would not be in the editor's good books. -
I belive she mean to say: "I am so glad I am black. The question never got answered and as I am not up to speed with the actions of these folk I was interested to know how they manage to stop shoots taking place? Do they scare off the birds (free beating)? Do they trespass and walk in front of the guns? What do they do? Who calls the police them or the shooters? I am all for field sports regardless of which you choose to partake in so I'd happily turn up and face them no matter who was getting harrassed from a man out for a mooch to a ful organised shoot that costs £££'s just to get on the list of invites, without the face mask, proud of wh -
I get 30Kg of chicken carcasses ( a few bags of wings out of them too) for £15. It's a nice drive over and I pass loads of farms etc so going to get some flyers printed upo and do some door knocking with lots of land changign hands that way recently. If you mince it up then the dog's teeth suffer as there is no cleaning going on and the mince can get stuck below the gum line easier meaning it's just as bad as kibble for destroying your dog's gob. It's not so bad if you are out in the field with the bags of mince etc but try and feed the backs whole as much as you can. You can mince the veg
