Excellent news. I await the results and will take the spade next time as digging that far down with a trowel just ain't cricket,

The change in circumstances can trigger a bout of the runs with most dogs because of the stress etc. As has been suggested try him on a boiled rice and chicken for a few days and then gradually move him onto whatever food you want to feed the dog.

Right, just been up to check the traps. I had put them where I had found moles to be before but nothing had been triggered nor touched in two days so I upped them all moved them. I started probing a mole hill just to have a dig about really, see what was what as it's a glorious day up here, and by chance I discovered one where the tunnel goes straight down to about a foot in depth. The tunnels down there are as smooth as anything so I guess they are used quite a bit and they are dry as a bone so I also guess they don't get used for worms. The tunnels I have been setting on have been about

Cheers LB. So far I've had the honour of going out in sunshine, rain, high winds, snow, frost and just an overcast average day. None of it has remained constant for a while so I have no reference as to how a few days of rain or sunshine affects them. God bless these weather systems. I've got the setting of the trap and the securing it at both sides so it doesn't wobble all over the shop, the thing I am trying at the moment is cutting a shallow groove int he tunnel floor to let the trap loops on the tunel traps sink into to see if that prevents giving the game away there is some wire kn

A trying few weeks with some decent results. I took delivery of the mole catching dvd from fourteen acre and slapped it straight in the dvd drive of my laptop at work. With the office noise blanked out by the headset I watched and listened to the bloke explain about "clarty soil" and the adjustments he made to the tunnel traps he had. I drew the conclusion that I was getting so many filled in tunnel traps due to the trigger not being delicate enough. The pile of moles he pulled out was rather impressive. I set off home that day with a plan of action. I was working from home the next day so

I've dealt with her through work a few times and she is a real genuine person and a great laugh. She has such a foul mouth too

Taxidermy folk might take a few and fly tiers will use one or two for dubbing. It's a shame there isn't much use for them as the fur is wonderfully soft and there are large numbers of them so it seems a waste to just burn them or bin them.

The Most Pathetic Footballer In The History Of The Game...

can you imagine someone going down like that after an ear flick in a Sunday league match  he'd probably earn a switch kick in the gonads and be banned from ever playing with them again! and rightly so, embarrassing! Banned from playing with what, his gonads again? I've seen more broken limbs on a sunday morning than I have at any other time in my life. The most memorable was my mate went into a 50/50 with a lad and the lad ended up snapping his shin on my mate's leg. Our middle aged defender pretty much got spear tackled during as corner and lifted his arm up to summon hel -
It can have its days Downhill all the way, granted some of it on my arse I bet you get a good chorus of skylarks up there in a few month. If you need a hand lugging shit about or just being picked up off the deck give me a nod, I enjoy a good wander to wjile away the time.

The Most Pathetic Footballer In The History Of The Game...
hutch6 replied to rob190364's topic in General Talk
Footballers are pathetic excuses for anything. I've stopped watching it because of all the play acting and carrying on over nothing. If any of the games played on local parks on a Sunday morning were played under the same conditions as the pro's the games would have to be abandoned either because each team was down to just the goal keepers with the rest being sent off, the players would be dead on their feet because of the 6 hours of injury time and because of the length of the games and amount of stoppages the crowd wouldn't turn up to watch so no money would be generated. -

I make a trip to a chicken processing place a couple of times a month in North Yorkshire and pick up boxes of carcasses. You get the odd wing in their and they still have loads of meat and skin on the carcasses. They are 50p per kilo and I can happily pick up what you want if you give me a few quid on top for the fuel as the place is a bit out of the way. There is a farmshop on the way there too and I have had discussions with them as they do all of their butchering onsite and I keep meaning to call in to sort an agreement out for beef off-cuts, hearts, livers and fingers crossed, loads of -
Ex-GF used to say "lickle" for little. It was like being lashed with a farrowing mesh. Good job she could suck a golf ball through a hosepipe and had breasts that were like the cold side of the pillow. One I have found really head banging recently is the Pete Kay effect. "T'internet" - F-off!!! Even my dad says it and he's about as trendy a corduroy so that speaks volumes. God forbid I am out for a meal with people that are enthusiastic comedians as I actaully like garlic bread and cheescake. You know the lines for these and it is usually follwed by them repeating them, laughing and look

You Asking About What Food Is Best Etc?
hutch6 replied to hutch6's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
It is linked to soft diets and also kibble diets. The facts are plain as day to see for me as virtually all of my friends who have dogs feed them on kibble and out of fourteen dogs all fourteen have browning teeth with around 9 of them having to have at least one tooth extracted and another dying of heart issues and liver issues aged 7. The youngest to have a tooth extracted was at four years old. My eldest dog is only five and still has a lovely set of pearly whites - plenty of crunchy bones to munch on cleans them up nice and good and keeps them away from ther vets. He did start to get brown -

I love the fact you can make a decision on which trap to use when you've opened the tunnel up. What are the deciding factors or is it just a gut feeling? For me the deciding factor is "Have I dug that a bit too long for the Talpex? Better sling a tunnel trap in then." :D Need to get myself to the DIY stores to look for a decent implement for the job or just cut down a spade to suit this weekend I think with a good old grinding wheel, sparks will fly.
-
I'm going to have to switch to a spade I think or a modified one as all this digging with the trowel is killing my wrist - I work in I.T so suffer from RSI, not from disciplining the primate
-
So how did you finish the blighter off, just whack it on the bonce? A shame you haven't been called back if there was more work there as all in all it proved you could catch and rid them of the issue as proved in person.
-
Cheers Dave, I got moles in both types of traps which was nice and also means it's a close call to which I prefer. From testing the mechanisms I would say that the Talpex are slighlty in front because they are just so powerful so ensure a really clean and fast last rights. Having said that if I get a double with a tunnel trap the top is getting pulled over my head like a goal scorer and I'll be not too subtle in my celebration.
-
Righto. I've got to get some sort of clearing methid going so I have started at the are with evidence of movement and the furthest point from the other fields. Before I was just setting them willy-nilly wherever I saw fresh movement so thought it best to ensure one set fo tunnels was clear before clearing off. I thought it would be one mole to one set of tunnels with a shared communal tunnel system near things like walls or fence lines as I was under the impression they're pretty teritorial buggers. Have I got this totally wrong? Still waitin gon the DVD turning up so don;t know if

Never used it but 1 part to 7 parts water makes it pretty potent.

It still has to be paid for out of taxes for cleaning up and does cost the economy when things that would otherwise generate money don't i.e. people getting to work, public services, farming etc. It may not "claim money from the system" but the system still has to invest in facilites for it. Just saying.
