    used to work terriers ,always kept an interest in them but now Im just about to get a new dog so hoping to start working it ina year or so,we shall see.though I live in kerry Im actually a glaswegian.
  1. there was a good coursing meet at abbeyfeale first weekend after christmas,was very good well organised loads of courses.i think its on every year well worth the visit and loads of good pubs in abbeyfeale too.just on limerick kerry border.

I first worked terriers about 15 years ago and I got into it by accident ,I bought a wee jack russel as a pet then found out my uncle was like an institution in the glasgow area for terrier work although it has to be said he only used lakies and patterdales)anyway I started going out with him at first ferreting for rabbits and later on for the old red haired one I was hooked and after a short while I ended up with a russel /lakie cross to go with my first dog and it all went well working the dogs when I could and enjoying every minute of it.It has to be said though even then,it wasnt the most
  3. hello everybody, great site been following the forums for a few weeks now.Im really more of an ex hunter used to do a lot of terrier work back in the day well about 15 years ago to be exact but working away from home a lot ,divorce etc etc etc put a stop to such things for a long time.also liked the ferretting as well.was lucky to have an uncle in glasgow mad for terriers and the whole scene he still is (hello peter if you go on this site at all)anyway that was glasgow ,now i live in the south west of ireland and quite by accident my wife decided to get a wee jack russel terrier so my interes
  4. youre better to go out yourself.then theres no pressure on you or your dog.just let the dog find its own way,it might not stay the first few times anyway.pointless going out with someone till you know the dogs a stayer anyway.I havent had dogs for years but used to keep jacks.I started out going out with an uncle who had lakies and patterdales that would just close with the fox and by the time youd dug down that was that.My dogs were more bayers and bolters ,but I always felt like the pressure was on for my dogs to do the business but at the end of the day there totally different types of dogs
