  1. hi. i have been fly fishing for a couple of years now for trout. but have always really wanted to catch bass on the fly. i live in north devon very close to the sea and estuary. and would realy like to give this ago. i no that people are catching bass in my area so now i guess is the time. however i dont understand the right tide times to go,if mirky, rough water matters and what lines to use. i also dont understand how you get a good cast when the wind is nearly always strong straight in from the sea? making it impossible to get a cast worthy of the title a cast. i no its alot of question
  2. it doesnt matter that you dont have a dog. but taking your lab even though untrained will still probably help as his nose will no doubt still work and he may just put up something you dont no is there. aslong as he is not afraid of gun shot. but yes rough shooting is really all about just walking about being satified with anything be it a woodcock, snipe, rabbit, pigeon, pheasant, hare or partridge you really could get anything and thats the beauty of it.its not about big bags its about just having a mooch.
  3. there are all sorts of different types of push in ear defenders available the ones that are made custom are very good not sure where you can go to do it but look out for them at game fairs as they will do it and you can pick it up later once there set. there are also ones that you squeeze push in and they expand and mould into your ears these are very good and very cheap. so i would say look out for one of these types. hope this helps. gossy

  6. hi there mate. your dog will naturally just chase anything. and the best way to get them going is to give them easy ones this can mean a few baggers (precaught rabbits) or by taking her out lamping and only letting her run at easy ones i.e squatters or rabbits in the middle of a big field to give her a chance. you also want to make sure the field is a good flat one so that you can always keep the lamp on the rabbit which is obviously a good thing. and it never hurts to run them with another dog. the main thing i think is to keep them confident dont keep running her on something she cant ca
  7. hi mate! in answer to your question one shotgun will do both jobs perfectly and with regards to make and model, in my opinion you want to just walk into the shop and start picking up different guns and just buy what feels good to you. i did the same when buying my first gun looking at reviews and pictures and choosing which gun i was gonna get when i got to the shop that all went out the window and i bought something else purely because it felt good. however i do believe that you get what you pay for in the way of build quality and reliability so beretta and browning would be a good place to s

  13. i have snared several foxes now using a hazel tealer with a split in the top but quite often find that the run or gap is to awkward for the hazel that cant be bent or shaped. i watched the warreners video on snaring and he uses wire tealers. but it doesnt show a good close up of the tealer. if any of you could describe how you do it or add a photo that would be great thanks all gossy
