Anyone use any flea treatment on there kits ? My kits are 8 weeks old, and ive been told not to put anything on them till there at least 12 weeks old.
-
Runforyourlife, I think you maybe right ,I dont think they will be scared for long as I handle them lots and they seem to be very confident kits. And when I say ive an other hutch, it is 6ft long and 4ft wide. The mother is not dragging them around but like I said in first post its the other Jill that made me think a bit with killing her young at 2 weeks old. You see I am keeping all the 8 week old kits therefore I want to put them all into the big hutch. I could wait a bit longer to put them all in together. cheers
-
Thanks Sue, The other Jill ate her young when the kits were under 2 weeks old, So I didnt think that she would kill another Jills Kits at 8 weeks old. But it came as a second thought after I'd posted my first post. I made a mistake not putting it Sorry

Thanks for your advice mate. I dont think that ferrets are nasty, I should have put that the other Jill Killed 10 of her Kits and was wondering if this may change things putting them all in together cheers

Would it be ok and good for my kits to eat raw mince meat ? thanks
-
Hi, is this gun only or is there any sights with it ?
-
Went out yesterday shooting a few rabbits for my kits placed one into the nest box at the far end. It was brill looking at the kits crawling over to the rabbit it didnt take them long either thanks for all advice everyone PS My other ferret whos got 3 kits and are 20 days old has 2 polecat colours and shes had an albino one as well. I mated her with a polecat hob ? and shes a polecat jill, didnt know that could happen. Thinking I might keep that one (Just coz its different) cheers
-
Thanks kay, I didnt know the jill took the meat to the kits I thought the kits went to the meat thanks for that when would you start handeling the kits now there 27 days old
-
Well Ive still 2 kits left there 27 days old today I been giving the mother fresh meat and she seems to be eating it well, however shes been taking the meat out of the bowl and hideing it it the corner of the nest. I dont want the meat to go off and the kitts eating it so what age for kits to be before cleaning the nest area out ? cheers
-
Same here, My Jill has just had her first kits Shes killed 12 only got 2 left. I had 3 left upto a few days ago she killed the other one when it was 2 weeks old. So fingers crossed she keeps these two. Its crap aint it when your watching them die in front of you and theres bugger all you can do. Good luck
-
would that be a wise move when there are still kits? i know it works normally but is there not a possibility she would eat more kits? Thats what I was thinking, Ive still got 2 left I think it was too much for her,Im very sure that there was nothing wrong with the newborn kits they were wriggling about full of life. Whatever the cause its too late now. Thanks for all your advice everyone
-
Yes I will put rabbit in for the kits & Jill if she wants it, Shes a brilliant hunter but just dont eat meat. Suppose its a good thing rearly as if she kills underground I know she will not stay there and eat it. fingers crossed ive still got 2 kits still in the nest today

Thanks for all your replys and help. I think I will be leaving alone, Its not very nice when they are being killed 1 by 1 right in front of you and theres very little you can do. Thanks anyway
