hi all having just made my first long net about 40 meters streched have put selegved in top and bottom i am now in need of some help my first question is how long should i make the head/ foot line some say 50% of streched lenght others 75% the net is 16 mesh in height made from spun poly from agoutin with a gauge of 2"1/8 this includes the sleveged the other question is how big / size of net pin im going to make my own so a skecth would be idea have a welder / steel so seems silly to buy some PLEASE EXCUSE SPELLING JUST SEEN HOW PORT IVE DRUNK WELL

hi have a 2.5 pajero i am wanting to get shot of been well maintianed as was used for towing my 16 ft boat has mot untill march i think have sold boat now so no longer needed the beast £700 ono if your interested i,ll take some pic and give you more information

you can get large split rings from here onestop-key-rings.co.uk i,ve got 75 mm split rings and one thats 120 mm its the sort for holding lots of keys and gets joined by a small threaded furrel

a exellent book is called net making for sport by howard glynn publisher is tideline show you the basic,s then goes on to show shaped nets, net bags longnets gate nets for longnetting the book to get for long netting is called long netting from peg to peg the author is martin king publisher quillar i belive he comes on huntinglfe as well both books make interesting reading and good reference with the vides as well look on you tube for purse net making hope this helps

being making nets for years but new to here spun nylon seems to be the best / most used don,t need drying unlike hemp hemp is the best to work with but tends to rott after a while and needs drying after every outing nylon cheap but hard on hands when making and hard to use in the field (tangles easly) but last time as for rings stainless steel is best but chrome steel a close second

hi i get all my net making gear from bridport net, a good book to get is call net making for sport can,t remember the autor but all you need to know about making nets, i just enjoy making nets my grand father taught me he use to make nets for the fishing industry in brixham can still see him now out the back yard breeding nets fag in mouth have a look at bridport nets i use them all the time and found very good on price/ quaility and delivery i just make nets for a hobby why her in doors watches all the soaps (crap)

what sort of size do make them as i use a bag but think a box would be better

hi takes me about 45mins just find it takes the stress of the day away my grandfather taut me he use to make alsorts of things ex navy/ fisherman even use to make prawn nets about 10mm mesh complete trawls i,ve just made my 1st gate net doble knotted with 6z nylon dont do any ferreting now just like knocking up nets while watching tele funny what people do behind close doors :

hi have started making my own nets and have now got the bug would like to know what others think about the best book for different types of nets /best materails have used hemp but prfer spun nylon as saves all the drying

make sure your ferret bag is on some flat ground once had to chase the bag down a steep slope ferret was dizzy not hurt but by the time i got back was worn out
