  1. Thats almost identical to my fx2000....cracking gun and accurate too!!!!!
  2. Sounds like you'll be shooting HFT mate. Use your normal pellet, the one that works best in your particular gun.
  3. Have you tryed dropping the red filter for a 30 , 40 yard shot ? Impossible with a 70 meter beam . Trying to lamp a decent size field when using a red filter is hard work aswell, i tend to use the red filter all the time as the rabbits round my way are pritty shy so 120 meter will be benificial when using the filters. atb migmog. fieldcraft!! comes to mind? Its not always possible to creep around and stalk one bunny at a time. There are plenty of places that I shoot where I'm most successful by lying up in a hide and waiting for them to show. But these could be anywhere from 15
  4. I have to echo most of what has already been said unfortunately, which isnt good for me as I have a lightening that I'm about to sell!!! I still hold an affection for bsa guns though, not because they are good but more because of the nostalgia of happy memories I have of using them. Remember the old Airsporter and Challenger? I've had many a happy day with these models. Bsa have taken on an impossible task with the lightening, compact and lightweight dont really fit into a spring gun very well. You need a bit more weight to supress the action of the piston and spring. I can see what th
  5. Do you have the SR6 reticule.....how do you get along with it and what range/pellet do you zero with. Think they do a slightly brighter stinger.
  6. Daystate Huntsman, Hawke Nite-eye SR6 4-16x50, Tracer stinger and a harris bipod. In .177.....
  7. You really need to pick a few up, shoulder them, try them for comfort and fit. So many guns will perform to a similar level but you'll shoot much better with a gun that feels right. I have an FX and I love it, think its the best gun in the world, others may not like it but it suits me and I shoot well with it. Thats all that matters to me. Calibre is the same. A matter of preference. I was a dedicated follower of .22 until I spent some time with .177. Now I dont think I could go back to the bigger calibre. Its a little confusing to hear of .177 being more accurate. It isnt!!! Its m
  8. They are all maximum penalties not mandatory penalties. discharging an airgun within 50 ft of the centre of a public highway is only an offence if it causes a nuisance. There are 120 pages in the Firearms act. There are plenty of specific entries relating to air gun offences, when I get some time I'll go through it and list the relevant sections just for anyone as a reference. Interestingly, definition of a firearm in certain circumstances for legal purposes is a little more tricky, which can only be decided by a court. I'm not trying to skirt the issue but am busy for a couple of
  9. http://www.sussex.police.uk/online_forms/f...ms_new_laws.asp Most of the above relate specifically to the use of airguns....... and when you break them you are committing an airgun offence. Get caught in the park with an airgun and its unlikely you'll go to prison. Get caught with a firearm and you will.
  10. If you want to clear the bunnies away a drop net would be hard to beat in those circumstances. If its just sport, wait until the wind is howling toward the fence, really dark night. Keep low and creep as far along the fence line as you can. When lamping up just for a quick look, shine higher than you normally would and lower the light slowly until you get an idea of where the bunnies are. Tends to spook them less than if you just turn a full beam on them.
  11. I have two coming on. One is 11 months, the other 7 months. There are advantages and disadvantages. They certainly are close and when together operate as a gang, they are starting to work well together which is something I'm happy with but I've also been careful to give them individual time. The best thing to remember is that two pups will be different so dont expect to compare tehm like for like. You'll need to weigh up the progress of each seperately and respond to their needs differently. I think it can slow maturity a bit as they retain the puppy play attitude for longer but dont s
  12. If you go into or onto a public place with a legally powered airgun you will be committing an airgun related offence not a firearms offence. Public places are anywhere the public has a right to go, bridleways across private land are public places, so if you were trespassing on private land and were caught shooting from a bridleway the more serious offence of using an airgun in a public place would apply. You are not even allowed to carry a covered gun without good reason, you cant just take your gun for a walk because you love it so much. Even if you have a good reason and the gun is covered i
  13. I get a lump in my throat when I have to despatch them in a trap.. They almost seem to look at you through sad eyes. Town foxes are often quite tame too so it makes it even harder. There's no shame in being compasionate mate....!!!!!!
  14. Thats a real nice setup mate..... If only I could justify another gun!!! Good luck.
  15. The stock of a lightening is held on with allen screws. You wont undo them with a screwdriver. But if the allen head is rounded out use a star drive in a battery drill. Take the scope off and wrap the gun in a soft towel. You'll have to find a star bit that is slightly bigger than the rounded allen head. Dont hammer it in but lean on it and use the battery drill in short bursts. If that doesnt work you'll have to drill a small pilot hole and screw in a left threaded self tapping screw. Only drill deep enough that the screw will bite and that should bring the allen screw out. If you
  16. I have a Garmin Bluechart G2 Vision card. Coverage area is Central Engish Channel. This extends from Eastbourne down to Portland Bill and across to the French coast including the Channel Islands. You'll have to check for compatability with your own chartplotter. Its boxed but has no manual although this is available as a free download from the Garmin website. £70.00 to include the postage.
  17. Its seems unlikely that a keepers dog would kill chickens... Would be a bit of a liability to someone whos living depends on keeping birds alive to have a dog that killed them....... And it would have a hard job getting into a secure chicken run......If a redcoat cant get in neither would a terrier..... Great read though...
  18. Just about spot on I would think.......I wouldnt expect too much from her until she's 18 months old. Between now and then just show her as many different situations as you can. Plenty of socialisation is key. Good luch with her...
  19. If Carlsberg done lurchers..... Cracking mate........A couple of years too early for me but the best £200 anyone will spend. Hope they get sensible homes, it would be a shame for them not to realise their full potential. Good luck with the sale...
  20. The first cross is more of a general mooching type animal, usually top out around 23/24 tts. Not overly bulky for a first cross but not pre ban hare coursers either. 3/4 is a generally a bit taller, 24/26, faster. There's probably not much to choose between them to be honest. Either wil take rabbits and in the good old days foxes and deer. Neither are out and out hare catchers though.
  21. Good luck mate........ I hope it works out well for you.....if you have my number still give me a call.......
  22. After much thought I've decided that my lovely little boat has to be sold.... She's a 17ft Hardy 17 fishing with a 40hp 2stroke autolube yamaha outboard. 4hp suzuki auxcillary. Both working perfectly and regularly maintained. Has a chartplotter, fishfinder and vhf radio. Tricolour nav light, anchor, chain and 100 meter warp. Was antifouled in November but I'll take her out and wash her down again. She cruises nicely at 18knots and returns around one mile per litre of fuel. She's a solid and seaworthy little workhorse. I'm looking for around £6000 ish.. I'll be happy t
  23. There are plenty of bream showing out of Portsmouth, Rays ands moothound are on the move too. Maybe a bit early for the tope yet. How many of you are there.
  24. Why is this even a thread if you have the biggest medical kit in the world....Use it on the dogs tail...!!!!! Oh....you cant.....you dont know how to......not much point in having it then is there...!!!!! Here we go again...!!!!!!
  25. The best thing to do is forget about chasing anything, he's obviously not interested and trying to force the issue will do more harm than good. Dogs will chase when they are ready not when you want them to be ready. Just keep walking him and showing him, thats all you can do. If he runs quarry and keeps missing he'll give up, will lose heart, maybe start yapping, things that you'll find hard to change. As far as putting weight on him. There is a difference between fat and muscle. I know it sounds obvious but if you feed him more without excersising he'll get fat. Build him up slowly. At hi
