I will be sorting another shoot out soon..... hopefully somewhere warmer so she doesn't have to wear quite so much....

I'm sure I wouldn't want to sit my bum in the snow......Lovely little dogs mate.

The ones in nuts will be a little more interesting........ I didn't want to upset anyone but I will be taking some attention grabbing pictures soon....

I was asked to help out a damsel in distress and shoot a few pictures for a portfolio. Tough job but someone has to do it...!! Anyhow, whilst we were out, she received a phone call from Nuts Magazine congratulating her on her forthcoming photoshoot for the magazine. She should be in there in a couple of weeks time but until then here are a few that I've taken of her. Am looking to shoot a few more over the next few months and am looking for suitable locations if anyone has access to buildings such as old wooden barns, stables, old buildings etc.....near to Southampton would be ideal. Whippet/Deerhound x Beddy/Greyhound..... 18 moths old.....slow to mature but coming on ok......he's a big softy too!!!

They look the business.....

Its not really an option for them.....If you look at where the donations come from that support the Conservative party a large percentage comes from the rural economy, large landowners etc. A lot of Tory MP's have strong direct links too, they come from wealthy and landowning families. For them to go back on a promise to try and repeal the hunting ban would have consequences beyond just looking like a party of liars. It would upset some of the major donators to the party. Aside from that, a lot of tory MP's actually enjoy the hunt themselves.
-
You're pretty much bang on about the general public....Most are quite apathetic to hunting. The whole ethos of the vote-ok campaign is to help win local seats for MP's that are sympathetic to hunting. In my own constituancy the seat is currently occupied by a Labour MP who is against hunting. The big push is to help win the seat for the conservative candidate who is for hunting, which in turn will help the repeal with another vote in favour. This is happening nationally and there will be a campaign loca to everyone here. The thing I really struggle with is how many hunters, shooters an

No....you had read it right.....Cameron is a tit!!!! What a stupid thing for him to say. The problem with most MP's is that a lot of their statements etc are written by the spin doctors and brains behind politics. When they are allowed to think for themselves they say stupid things. The repeal is still touch and go right now. Most people, contrary to what the media will have you believe dont give two hoots wether we hunt or not. Most view foxhunting as a little eccentric and think we are all mad. Whatever happens, if the Conservatives regain power, the vote on repeal will be quite

Possibly I missed or misread something so I've reread the article. The guy is hoping to get elected isn't he? Yet he's saying to the many people who engage in fox control, what you do is cruel, no, sorry, that's "very, very cruel", but I can shoot rabbits, because that's... ?? How is shooting, snaring or trapping as methods of fox control very very cruel? How is shooting rabbits, as his father taught him, less cruel? It strikes me as a completely bizarre comment to make. Can you enlighten me further please if I'm taking things up wrong here? (genuinely). I wasn't having a

The comment Cameron made about gassing, snaring and trapping was made directly in relation to the control of foxes and not as a general comment about field sports. This was the same argument used by the Hunts to defend their sport when the ban first took effect. The Hunting act will be repealed completely or not at all. Its not possible to select certain pieces of legislation and leave them in place. The idea of repeal is that one simple line will be entered into legislation and the entire act dismissed. However, this wont give hare coursers the right to illegally course over ground where

Apologies if I sounded flipant. No I dont have a problem with your original post. I'm just a little sceptical about a new member raising a question about something that has been fiercly debated over the past few weeks. I have no problem at all with anyone who trades a service of any kind for sporting permission. I'm sure thats how most people start into fieldsports, there are plenty who I know that would run errands for the local keeper as kids in return for some ferreting or ratting permission. If you have a look back through the last few pages of threads you'll probably find as much

Around and around we go again...... The world has gone mole crazy.....maybe next year we could take a leaf from the lurcher book and run a mole lamping competition.....

The garden twine sold as hemp is actually Jute. Its about three times the thickness of good hemp and doesn't knit very well at all. The nets you end up with are unuseable so what looks like good value is a waste of money. Bridport nets are selling a poly/linen twine which is very nice. It handles just like hemp. You do need to watch what you buy over the net as decent hemp twine is like hens teeth mate.

Cheers... .... I have found someone with a nice working hob who isnt too far from me. I want a litter for a few reasons. Firstly I want some young workers to replace mine as they get older. I have a lovely little jill who I'd like to breed from. It will be good for my small children to understand what goes into having a litter and a good experience for them. I'm not expecting to make any money from this and am more than happy to keep the entire litter myself if there are no suitable homes available. To those that feel I should rehome rescue ferrets.....its not my responsibility to

If you cant find one the jill jab works well had mine done recently. Thanks.....I wanted some kits to be fair. I have two little girls who are desperate to have some baby ferret. Am only mating the one as she is so good natured. Will only keep a couple and give the rest away. Im sure they'll be very well handled by the time my kids have finished with them.

I have a nice, friendly little polecat jill ready to be mated but no hob. If anyone near the Portsmouth area has one that I could use I'd be grateful.

Quite a lot of wrong info on there....such as.....Kania's being approved by Defra for killing woodpeckers! Just shows what we are up against!!

The setting pins get bent when setting the trap. If you dont fully open the jaws of the trap before fitting the end of the pin in the trigger plate, the pin gets bent across the body of the trap. I've seen people use the pin as a lever to fully open the trap which invariably results in a bent pin too.

I'll be down on Pevensey Marsh toward the end of Feb with the beagles. My crew are having a joint meet with the Pevensey Marsh Beagles. Tyla, if you fancy a day out with us I'd be happy to vouch you in mate.

Either 'The Flatpack' for half barrels or 'Magnum Trap Company' for talpex type traps. Good value.

help needed! i need your opinions

Have a look on the natural england website. There are some interesting study papers published on there that bear out most of what has already been said here. They put cull figures as a percentage of population to some of the popular control methods. The figure for gassing seems a little high to me at 95% as they weren't specific as to soil type in the tests. I would say that ferreting would score highly as a control method. It was interesting to note that gassing, ferreting and cage trapping close to bury's produced more does, whereas shooting at a distance from bury's gave predominant -
Good luck with them mate.... I have a real soft spoy for beddy crosses, alas, with two under 18 months myself I cant consider another, Hope all goes well though.

The cat is still someone's pet that they no doubt cared for in the same way people care for a dog. I should imagine a pet being killed in a poorly protected trap would cause cosiderable upset. All those who expressed joy and happiness at 'one less cat in the world' what if that was your childs pet.....would you like to see your chilt distressed over the loss of their pet. A loss that could have easily been avoided. The whole point of trapping is to exclude non-target species. The target species was a rat not a rabbit. The simple addition of some two inch weldmesh over both ends of the
