Thanks guys. Have done a bit more research...........Slow day at work.....Appears he was let out of jail on a technicality, and was never cleared of the murders. Hence no big lawsuit payout by the state. Very dubious case. Boxing rankings though according to "ring side" magazine at the time thehighest he got was #3.and his form was a 7-7-1 and going down hill. He also lost his eye in prison from another prison punching him. he got a detache retina that became infected. Still reading a lot of the case. From what I've read of the docs so far it looks like he did do the crime and he played the

Listening to Bob Dylans Hurricane and thought I'd google Rubin Carter. Very Interesting story. A story that would appear to be another example of Hollywood distortion and one that Mr Dylan was perhaps hoodwinkedd too. Does anyone remember the case? He was supposedly a good boxer and was a middleweight contender for the world title. Or is that just Mr Dylans take on it. Be interested to hear from anyone who can remember. Help needed Wire haired hungarian vizslas
Swampy replied to 3175darren's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
Lovely looking dog. I've got a smooth haired and he's just coming up to 3. most of my shooting is rough shooting on my own or with my mate who hs an ESS. My dog is absolutely brilliant in this situation and knows that when I'm carrying a gun he's supposed to be working. If I go on a beat with him (no gun) he's the same. However if there are lots of guns around he is extremely nervous and wont leave my side. After a couple of drives he gets better but he's nowhere near as good as when we're on our own. I've blamed this on myself as I've no good experience of training a retriever. He is what h -
Top quotes from the man himself. (ripped from the web but I can remember nearly all of them. Not the Jona Lomu one. That did make me smile! Rgds Swampy. "It’s high enough, it’s long enough AND IT’S STRAIGHT ENOUGH." "He’s like a demented ferret up a wee drainpipe." "He’s like a raging bull with a bad head." "That one was a bit inebriated – just like one of my golf shots." "He kicked that ball like it were three pounds o’ haggis." "The All Blacks that day looked like great prophets of doom." "My goodness, that wee ball’s gone so high there’ll be snow on it

Are you trying to say Ireland are becoming the new France? The last thing ANYONE needs is a "New France"! rgds
-
Trouble with Ireland is that you can never tell who's going to turn up. On their day they can't beat anyone, on another and anyone can beat them. You can't beat this tournament for entertainment. Old scores, traditional battles and players vying for domination sometimes against club team mates. France and Italy bring a little style to the tournament that just adds the icing on the cake. I'm genuinely excited about this years tournament Pure magic. As you say though " If they do well, it'll be 'A bright new future' plastered all over the papers. If they get humped, it'll be 'A team in transit

You shouldn't have been done at all the law allows 10% + 2mph above the posted limit before you get nicked to allow for speedo error. Therefore, you can get away with 46 mph in a 40, 57 in a 50 and so on. Oh no It Does Not. It is purely discretional. Which is my gripe. The law is the law. Get stopped by a copper who doesn't like the look of you or your attitude and you're toast. Why do people have to speed anyway? Have you notice that when an accident occurs. its ALWAYS the other persons fault. Therefore when you're doing 120+ and the car in the middle lane has blow out, swerves

Nings Mal. I really don't understand why its your favorite time of the year. Surely it is frought with dissapointment?! A challenge for England this year and to be honest there will be no easy matches for them. Apparently Gavin "Tango" Henson has been included in the West England squad. Why? As for Murrayfield. That pitch doesn't have grass. Just banana skins for England. I would love to see Italy progress but can't help feeling that they will be the weaker of the six yet again. If nothing else; Let the banter begin! rgds Swampy Ninging low in a very sugary carriage.

Key element to your statement there seems to be "If you believe the papers". I guess it depends on which paper. All papers have an ulterior motive for printing their take on events. And they target the readers that they wish to impress. Sorry I don't believe it. If 40% turned out to vote I'd be amazed![ I am slowly coming to the conclusion that independence is being sold on the permise of freedom. But in reality it will be nothing more than symbolic. Can't help feeling that yet again the general public are being conned! I will of course be happy to recant that statement if I'm wrong.

I shall not make the error of quiestioning some of your statements as I suspect that most are of a factual nature; However what you have outlined is the basis of independence. It does not take into account the massive amount of legal hurdles that would need to be completed. There is also an argument that England should have one aswell to determine whether it is acceptable...but lets not go there eh?. I think that the biggest question that needs to be resolved is who qualifies to vote in any referendum. Lets face it most Scotts live outside of Scotland and have done for decades. Look at Corby

I get pee'd off that the police actually treated it with such diligence. Thank fek our rural bobby wouldn't entertain such a complaint. Common sense is a rare commodity these days someone got arrested for killing f****n rooks, what next??? It's almost like they covered all the proper crimes with the various laws, but decided to keep going and introduce laws for things that really do not need controlling. Fair enough, protect endangered species and song birds........but having a law that protects f****n pest species, what gormless brain dead moron passed that law???? totally and utte

www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14631856 I didn't know this! Ignorance really is bliss. I know the BBC sometimes get a few facts wrong so would be intereste in folks views. My understanding of "rook pie" is that it had to be the young birds as older ones were too tough (To eat not fight/shoot) First time I had it was when I was about 8yo. my great uncle gave it to me without telling me what it was. Can't say I didn't like it. Had it since and can't say it is something I would choose to eat again. Thought comments and abuse please rgds Swampy crow ning

The European union has great potential BUT and it's a big but, the need for each individual country to have the right to govern it's own land with it's own laws is paramount!!! To be told what to do by a foreigner goes against ALL European nations nature and all this bollocks about paying a tax to the central European government is a fookin joke each country should be resposible for it's own borders be it Roads, benefits or freakin Laws with it's own money. The Euro is doomed is some countries and possibly ultimately doomed fullstop. The EEC was a phrase coined originally in 1939 (I th
